Growing up in the 70's, with no internet, Little River Band was often heard but seldom seen on American television. All we got from Australia were Olivia, Air Supply and of course the Bee Gees. They were all worthy, but the Little River Band had a unique sound. Never be another like them

This song has special meaning for me. I saw the Little River Band in 1979, a week or so before I was headed out to San Diego for Navy bootcamp. I was about to become a sailor for the next 6 years and I wasn't even 20 yet. It was the first time I'd left Missouri. I got goosebumps watching them play this then knowing I was about to become a sailor and had a "Cool Change" coming my way...and still get goosebumps when I hear the start of this song. It was indeed a Cool Change.

This song always brings tears to my eyes. I grew up boating, skiing & swimming on/in the rivers & lakes of Kentucky but it's the ocean that calls to me, always. Every summer we went to Florida for vacation. In my adult life I go whenever I get the chance but not as often as I used to. I actually get homesick for the beach & the water. I love to swim out past the breakers & just relax, letting the smooth roll of the sea lull me & soothe my spirit. Some people just enjoy the water as a kind of playground. Others feel a primal pull that's undeniable & spiritual. I've felt it since I was 3 years old & always will. This song expresses it beautifully. Thanks for reacting to it. And gratitude to The Little River Band for the song itself. 💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊💙🌊💙

I also love this song and being an Aquarian I love the water. We live on the east coast of Florida and being on the water is the most peaceful, relaxing, getting lost in the wonder of it all is the best feeling. And when the dolphins play in the wake of our boat, man, nothing like it. And the east coast is absolutely beautiful like the panhandle.

I didn’t see the ocean until I was 26. And it’s been 11 years since I’ve seen it. Disabled and physically and financially know I will probably never get back there. When I first saw the ocean, the pelicans, the smell of the air, the sound and feel of the waves… knew I was home. I miss it so much. Think our souls lead us there.

Deborah, I completely understand how you feel. Decades ago, when I was just a punk at 15 years old and turning 16 in late August, I signed up for a SCUB diving class out here in California through my high school, that was an occupational program aimed at making me either a lifeguard or if I took more classes, a commercial diver or underwater welder. I did end up being a lifeguard one summer and hated it, but I loved the sea. When I got to college, I took a marine bio course and an oceanography class just so I would better understand the world I loved to explore. I would spend almost every weekend on scuba at places like Crescent Bay, Seal beach, Laguna beach, Corona Del Mar and many others. I had many awesome experiences and learned that I was the visitor, and that mankind is just a tourist down there. I've seen many species of whales and sharks; I've played with dolphins and seals. I watched sharks, little and large, swim right by me and I've been bumped by God only knows what while hanging out in the kelp forest along the California coast. I've drifted on the surface at night and watch falling stars burn up and become part of our planet. I probably have close to two thousand hours on scuba over my lifetime. I used to keep a dive book but lost my gear several decades ago along with my dive card but know people that have their own compressors so I can almost always get my air tanks filled. (That's how dive shops stop the government from taking control of the sport diving industry, by only allowing people that have their certification to get their tanks filled.) The sea if a beautiful but harsh mistress and when she looks her most beautiful is when she is the most dangerous. A siren song actually. Go learn how to Scuba dive and open that world even further than what is just on the surface.

When I get to my childhood home in Rhode Island, the smell of the ocean - even miles inland - makes me happy. When the singer says "when I'm out on the sea alone" - you ARE alone. Lying back in a drifting boat just staring up at the sky and just feeling connected -- to the sea -- to the sky. The quiet - just water lapping at the boat. BUT you know you can't let yourself get too lost in the feeling; you need to make sure you can get back. I was always in small craft - row boats, small sail boats - so a couple thousand yards from shore was my limit. I always wished I could afford something sturdier.

Being on a boat has always given me peace and exhilaration. Any wildlife is an added bonus. This song captures those feelings. ❤️🌊🐬🐳❤️ Calypso by John Denver catches that swell perfectly also.

Super talented musicians, songwriters and good folks. Had the pleasure of working with them on a concert back in ’79 when “Lonesome Loser” was rocketing into the Top 10 on the Billboard 100. Unfortunate and sad that none of the original members are able to perform using the Little River Band or LRB names due to a legal dispute. The current touring lineup does not include anyone from the original/classic lineup and none of the current band members are actually Australian. The original LRB just released two compilations for any diehards out there: "Ultimate Hits" and "Masterpieces"

There were so many good songs in the late 70s that reflected on the ocean. And it seems everyone of them was adopted by my shipmates while we were at sea. Our deployments would last up to nine months. And we would rely on our boom boxes and collection of cassette tapes.

Great reaction video. Little River Band is such a under rated band. Little River Band's Greatest Hits is such a great album. Thank You. Please listen to more of their music, they won't disappoint.

I love this song. I could live on a deserted beach with nothing but the sounds of the surf, sounds of the seagulls and dolphins in the background. I am also land locked in OKie land. Good reaction.

This song brings tears to my eyes. They played it at Seaworld during either the dolphin show or Shamu. It was so peaceful to watch that and listen to the song at the same time. 🐬

Jay and Amber, you've only just scratched the surface with Little River Band. Although from Australia, they are one of the great soft-rock bands of the 70's/80's (right up there with the likes of Bread, America, Eagles, etc).

I grew up with these guys. Glenn Shorrock’s voice is so beautiful and accented perfectly by Wayne Nelson. This song still triggers a tear to this day.

One of the great bands of the 70s. They saw a road sign to a location called “Little River” while driving in country Victoria (Australia) and grabbed that as a name. Amusingly some of the band members had been in another Aussie band called Mississippi. 😊

One of Aussies biggest exports. Best harmonies. The voice of Glen is unmistakable.

I was in the 9th grade and we had to journal everyday in English class. The question was, "What is your favorite song? And why? " We also had to write the lyrics to the song. I knew this song by heart. It speaks to my very soul. They don't make bands and songs like this anymore. I'm 60 and it still speaks to my soul.

These guys did shows with Queen, Supertramp and Fleetwood Mac among others back in the 70's and 80's, and held their own. So many amazing tunes...check out Happy Anniversary by them on that special day, and Reminiscing, another you you will love

The name Little River Band may make you think you're gonna get country music. But Little River Band is from the land down under...and I'm not talking Alabama. Australia. They had a nice little run of hits in the late '70s/early '80s. Their biggest hits were: "Help Is On Its Way" (1977), "Reminiscing" (1978), "Lady" (1978), "Lonesome Loser" (1979), "Cool Change" (1979), "Take It Easy On Me" (1982), "The Other Guy" (1983).
