Great band, terribly underrated for their talent and rich sound. I think their biggest charting song was "When She Cries" and it's worth a listen.

That is a great one, but "Tell Me What You Dream at Night" hit #1 on the Adult Contemporary charts. It also had the drummer John Dittrich on lead vocals.
@jeffwestcott6902 Жыл бұрын
@@MultiEviscerator So did When She cries. Larry Stewart, the original lead vocalist of the band, left for a solo career by then. "I'll Still Be Loving You" was the biggest hit they had with Larry Stewart in the band.
@jeffwestcott6902 Жыл бұрын
also important to remember that after Larry left the band, Restless Heart recorded When She Cries, Tell Me What You Dream, etc, with the drummer singing lead, and those songs crossed over to pop and rock charts - something they hadn't done before then.
@MorrisB1971 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffwestcott6902Actually "I'll Still Be Loving You" with Larry was a big top 40 crossover hit in Spring Summer 1987. It hit #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart and top 25 in pop airplay & #33 on the pop chart

OMG! So glad you reacted to Restless Heart. One of the most underrated groups mainly because Alabama dominated the 80s and 90s. They did have 6 #1s and many charted hits. My favorites "A Tender Lie", "Why Does it Have to be (Wrong or Right)", "Fast Moving Train", "I'll Still be Loving You", "That Rock Won't Roll", "Big Dreams in a Small Town", and "Dancy's Dream", "When She Cries" just to get started....

As a huge Alabama fan, I totally agree with you. Restless Heart and Sawyer Brown never got the recognition they deserved because Alabama dominated the ‘80’s. Another band I’d put in the same category is The Shooters.

I suggest checking out Sawyer Brown... You will LOVE lead singer Mark Miller's voice... He is one of those performers that just can't stop moving... They are quite versatile band, so they offer a variety of music types... They had a huge list of hits spanning the '80s and '90s... All of them are great... I suggest one of their earlier hits, "Some Girls Do"...

From 1984 to 1993, Restless Heart was one of the biggest country bands around, and this was when Country Bands ruled the charts. During this period, they put out 6 studio albums and 22 chart singles, including 6 number one's. They were known for their great harmonies. Larry Stewart was the front man and main lead singer, but every band member could, and eventually did, sing lead. Some great songs from them include: "(Back to the) Heartbreak Kid", "Wheels", "That Rock Won't Roll", "Why Does It Have to Be (Wrong or Right)", "Big Dreams in a Small Town", "When She Cries" and "We Got the Love". If you would like to hear the bass player (Paul Gregg) sing lead, check out the song "Mending Fences."

I saw Larry Stewart with Tim Rushlow of Little Texas and Richie McDonald of Lone Star in concert together as The Frontmen Of Country in Midland/Odessa, Texas a few years back. Talk about a supergroup! They delivered 😮a high energy show packed with their hits with their respective groups and even a few surprise songs from some of the artists who had influenced them. After the show, they stood behind tables with their merch on them and signed anything a fan gave them to sign. I got to talk with Larry for about 5 minutes as the crowd thinned out. I told him the RH songs we played in the area honky tonks and he motioned me over to the end of the table where we just chatted about playing in a group. He was very down to earth and made me feel like I was the one person in the world he wanted to talk to. Of course my date just stood there salivating the whole time! Lol. I love so many of their songs but Long Lost Friend is my favorite. Amber, you would especially love it. I think it would really touch you.

A friend of mine and I went to see them at a country music festival. My oldest daughter was a baby (2) at the time, and she loved Larry Stewart (the lead singer). The funny or sweet part of the story is that when we were getting signatures from the band, she held her hands out to Larry and he actually took her and held her in his lap, for the longest time, while he signed other peoples stuff. He and the other guys her awesome to her and us. Still have the picture of her on his lap.

"When She Cries" was probably their first real country pop cross-over! It was after Larry Stewart left to go solo, and the rest of the band took turns with lead vocals! This song actually did decent on the adult contemporary chart if my memory serves me correctly!

This song hit No. 1 on the Billboard country chart in 1988. I was thinking it crossed over to the pop chart too, but apparently not. Two of their other songs did -- "I'll Still Be Loving You" in 1986 and "When She Cries" in 1992. ETA: Today's country sounds like Southern rock rather than what it did in the 70s and 80s. You can't forget the country crooners like Don Williams, Gene Watson, Ronnie Millsap, Randy Travis and Keith Whitley.
