Let's be honest, traditionally, polygamy was/is accepted in Africa and still practised although at a lower rate in modern times. It's now criminal to marry or impregnate girls below 18 in majority of the countries, but a lot of this still does happen. Some people/communities still haven't moved beyond their traditional beliefs. Then enters the religious aspect, he's a muslim man which allows him 4 wives. So as long as the women are of legal age and enter into his lifestlye knowingly, he's not committing any crime. I'm African(Kenyan) and this is a no for me. But even in my country, polygamy is allowed. There are those who choose it and those who don't.

I'm African (Ghanaian) as well, however polygamy was practiced by some tribes, not all tribes where monogamy was the standard. You also ignore the fact that polayndry was also practiced. One woman with multiple husbands. We cant generalize a continent. With that being said Africans really need to forgo polygamy and polyandry. I watched a news story years ago about a white man who had 13 wives! I had seen him over the years on different talk shows with more or less wives, some had left him and new women were added! Polygamy is practised all over Africa, and don't get me wrong, it's not practised by all households or all families and cultures but in all 52 African countries, I'm dead sure that you will find polygamous marriages. Even here in South Africa where we have 11 official languages and a variety of cultures, you can only imagine what goes on in some. If someone was unattractive poor, they are still unattractive to me if they become rich. If someone is around me enough for me to get to know their personality, and they have an attractive personality, that works for me. Typical physical attractiveness doesn't necessarily appeal to me. For example, I am attracted to very dark complexion men, but they must be confident and have a nice personality.
