If Yhwach deemed it necessary to break Ichigo's bankai instantly TWICE then Ichigo has gotta be AT LEAST relative to All mighty Yhwach and imo more powerful. I think if this wasn't the case Yhwach would have toyed with him more in the palace before doing it.

I though you would talk about the moment Yhwach stole Ichigo's quincy Powers and what that actually means. This part always let me confused... His soul continues beeing part quincy but his Powers don't? So Horn of Salvation would'nt work cause he can't create the balance anymore?

I think it would be REALLY cool if they let the moment where Tensa Zangetsu breaks play out something like this: It's the last few minutes of the episode and ichigo activates bankai, we get an extended scene where he uses it and defeats Ywach in a massive spectacle and the episode ends. When the next episode starts, it does a recap of those events but in the recap, Ywach uses the almighty to change history and the abrupt breaking of the bankai happens as it does in the source material. Maybe that would be too confusing for casual viewers but I think it would be a great way to actually show what ichigo can do with his bankai while also really fucking with people in terms of what Ywach can do with The Almighty.

He messed up in the hell arc with adult ichigo. Kubo said his dual swords were a shikai and the true bankai was the one that looked like his former shikai, so unless adult ichigo is always in a bankai state, then yea Kubo was caught lacking lol

The fact that Ichigo is just 17 and had just unlocked his true power, and yet Yhwach considered him the single greatest threat to himself, speaks volumes about how powerful Ichigo truly is. There is also the neat thematic part of it all, that Ichigo as a hybrid being is the most direct rejection there is of Yhwach's goal of creating a world without progress.

Well as of the tybw arc he's 19 there was I think a 15 month time skip between the aizen fight and the fullbringer arc. But yeah Ichigo is still a teenager

I don't think his age really matters. Ichigo being a mix of everything more than likes sets him up to be the next soul king like Ichibe had planned if things didn't workout.

I think the best option and the best way to handle ichigos bankai is for the anime to show exactly what happens after bankai is released. The whole fight would be shown and the outcome would be clarified but then the anime would bring back time and show that yuha breaks ichigos bankai. Kinda like a time shift showing its real power and then using the almighty to destroy that future.

It would be interesting if, in the hell arc, Ichigo recieves the Gojo treatment. By that I mean all the main villains (presumably the Devil himself?) would have to rely on trickery, deceit, and traps to take Ichigo out of the picture. Maybe using Kazui against him or something. Because by the point in time in which we see Ichigo during the Hell Arc, there really shouldn't be anyone capable of stepping to him.

Largely agreed. Though we do get a glimpse that Hell does really, really weird shit to the heavy hitter souls that end up there. Ukitake's shikai blade is the size of a bus. Kubo only knows what happened to the dead Arrancar and other Captains.

I mean TB Ichigo does receive the Gojo treatment by Yuha, Yuha quite literally does his best not to directly confront Ichigo in bankai and instead purely relies on taking Ichigo out via the future. In reality TS HoS Ichigo gets this treatment as well to a lesser extent. At this point Yuha stops actually fighting Ichigo directly and purely relies on the Almighty to fight even going as far as to say that a single mistake will have him dead at Ichigo's hand. The fact that Yuha states this to a TS HoS Ichigo and then proceeds to outright refuse to fight a Bankai Ichigo implies that even if Yuha does everything right as long as Tensa Zangetsu exist Yuha does not win. So yeah Ichigo does get the Gojo treatment in TYBW, hell he kinda gets it since the begining by being placed at the top of the war potentials and having Yuha directly tell Jugram not to engage because it would take too long to take Ichigo down despite how exhausted Ichigo is. The only reason the Quincies beisdes Jugram and to some extent Uryu don't avoid Ichigo like the plague is because they are cocky or like Askin have a trick up their sleeve that doesn't involve them actually fighting Ichigo. But aside from Askin they are all just cocky.

I love that Ichigo is an amalgamation of all the different types of entities in Bleach and his ability to wield Shinigami, Quincy, Hollow, and Fullbring powers is amazing. I hope he gets a form in the Hell Arc where he combines the look of all his different powers. A fusion of his shinigami and fullbring shihakusho with both of his hollow horns and black stripes down his face and Quincy wings would be fire. I assume that Ichigo and company will be facing off against demons or hell spawn of some kind that will require them to go beyond Bankai.

To add to this SK Yhwach already saw TS HoS Ichigo as an extreme danger to himself even with the almighty to the point were Yhwach goes as far as to admit that despite the use of the almighty if he messes up even a little Ichigo can and will kill him, meaning the futures SK Yhwach saw himself winning against HoS were very few.

When ywach saw that in the future of current reality he'd be defeated, he swapped the future with a future where ichigo's sword broke. Now that I think about there is no guarantee that ichigo lost in that future, maybe he did defeat ywach in that future too, but broke his while doing it. But even then, how ywach is able to selectively apply that future only to ichigo's sword and not affect anything else, well his power is not that well explained. Anyways, if he could swap between any future possibilities, there needs to be at least one future where he has a favourable outcome. Say if he was faced with an enemy with absolute power, such in all forks of future he'd be defeated, then ywachs power would be useless. Cuz no matter how many swapd he does, he still gets defeated.

Theres a chance Ichigo vs Askin is expanded in the anime, him vs Yhwach was expanded, vs the Bambies was also expanded, so it seems fights that involves Ichigo are going to be expanded

Ichigo vs. Askin needs to get cut. It completely broke the flow of the narrative and absolutely ruined any tension leading into the Yhwach confrontation - we instantly knew Ichigo was going to lose because of that encounter. It *totally* deflated the gravity of the exchange. Honestly, that entire exchange was worse for the story than the asspull of bringing Byakuya back to life.

That's not weird at all. I hope it's over. The withdrawal from antidepressants can be quite nasty. Worst one i had was venlafaxine... Still, opiate withdrawal is way worse though. Sadly opiates/opioid are way too good at handling depression, at least you think so the first few months. After that, the effect makes a 180° turn into the negative, and you' hooked. Glad that i got rid of them this year. Good luck!

Powerful enough to save all and confront god tier opponents, but it all came with a massive near price. His training and subsequent power ups was essentially the goose being stuffed for the oven, the next Spirit King. Great thing that he avoided that fate thanks to certain events playing out. Ichibei's joke to Shunsui in CFYOW about Ichigo never being able to talk or anything was chilling.

Indeed. Shunsui might have been willing to go along with the plan, but you can tell he hated it and was barely able to hold back his disgust towards the sins of the Ancestors and Ichibei's callous attitude towards everything. The fact that Halibel stated that she understood why Aizen wanted to overthrow the system that requires something like the Soul King, speaks volumes about how gruesome it is.

The sin is an atrocity that anyone, both the best and worst, find reprehensible for obvious reasons. Shunsui is a Commander and deadly warrior but he has a solid moral compass and heart. .

The idea that knowing the truth behind the creation of the current worlds is what pushed both Aizen and Tokinada to become who they were, is a chilling reminder of how the sins of the past create monsters in the present. Even Yhwach, who seemed to have disgarded all compassion for his "Children", seemingly still cared enough about his father that he wanted to free him from such a twisted existence.

I'm pretty sure there's a Hybrid Being in Can't Fear Your Own World that utilizes Hybridized Techniques, like the fusion of Bringer Light, Shunpo, and Sonido among some others. It'd be neat to see Ichigo using or developing his own. Especially since the anime portrayed him using Sonido when he arrived in Soul Society and found Byakuya.

Personally I think that was him at his strongest. Hear me out. Ichigo never really struggled against Aizen at that point. Also he achieved the form by fighting a merged Zangetsu with all 3 of his powers coming together. After the fight his appearance reverts showing he lost all the training he just went through. Thematically it makes sense.

Amazing video Tommo! I have a suggestion for another - What would happen if we put the two fastest attackers in Bleach against one another! The ‘Speed of Sound’ Gin VS The ‘Speed of Light’ Lille Barro! To avoid the issue of Lille’s intangibility, perhaps allow Kamishini no Yari to be able to poison at a Reiatsu level as opposed to a physical level?

Ichigo always had a rival character to fight before fighting the final boss of an arc which was always aizen. The Soul society arc had renji and byakuya, arrancar arc had grimjow and ulquiorra. The Fullbringer arc had tsukishima and ginjo, although ginjo also was the final boss. I think Uryuu was meant to be Ichigo's rival in this arc but they barely had time to fight with each other. I hope the anime corrects this because this would make Uryuu's betrayal a bit more realistic.

I would love to see more of the bankai in the anime. My theory/expectation is that they will add a fight scene with the bankai but this will actually happen in one of the futures that Yuha Bach can see and where he's losing. That would be why he break it in another future and then we come back to the reality with the scene from the manga where the bankai is broken instantly That would make some great fan service but could give a nice explanation too. What do you think about that?

I just wish Ichigo actually participated in the TYBW tbh. In every other arc he got like 4-6 major fights. But then in TYBW he fights in the first invasion, then goes to the palace, stays for a while, comes back down and has a quick skirmish, then goes right back up for the end….that was not satisfying at all lol

@@felipez3115 I never said it had to be “just Ichigo,” or that his only moments have to be battles, but he fight in the first invasion, then he goes to the palace for training, getting his zanpakuto reforged, etc.then he goes down to fight. He fights a few Sternritter briefly, then realizes he immediately has to go back up to fight Ywach. Then he goes up and kills him. I’m glad the captains got a ton of spotlight, that was great, but I still wish Ichigo got to have his own multi-chapter fight like Grimmjow or Ulquiorra. At the end of the day, the TYBW is a war arc, and it feels like Ichigo is absent from virtually the entire fight against the Wandenreich. Take Naruto for example.I like the TYBW a lot more than the 4th Great Shinobi War, but at least in that Naruto was a central participant in the war effort. Whereas in Bleach, Ichigo just wasn’t involved to the same extent. That was just sort of disappointing.

@@JoelBurger Ichigo doesn't really care for anyone that isn't his friend or immediately in his vicinity, in fact he doesn't care when being too late to save a stranger as is shown by his late arrival to saving Orihime and Chad during the start of the Arrancar Saga. The guy doesn't really care that Yammy killed a bunch of people before he arrives he mostly cares that he wasn't able to do protect Orihime and Chad despite his arrival against Ulq and Yammy due to his own personal problems. Later in the arc Ichigo doesn't even kill arrancars despite their danger simply due to him not having a personal grudge against them, he merely incapacitates them. One could argue that Ichigo would have killed Ulq and based on his reaction it is very likely that he would have killed Ulq but at the end of the day the only reason Ulq gets humiliated and killed the way he is is because White does it. The only three people that Ichigo is intent on killing pretty much no matter what are Aizen, Ginjo and Yhwach, all of which he has concrete reason besides them being his enemies. Aizen because he has seen first hand how unreasonable Aizen is, how incapacitating would not work and that Aizen directly threatens Ichigo's family by wanting to destroy Karakura Town making the fight quite personal for Ichigo. Ginjo, quite literally for his betrayal and manipulation of Ichigo's family making this the most personal of all of Ichigo's kills, simply put this was a kill both of pity and revenge. Finally, Yhwach who quite simply is responsible for ordering the almost death of several of his friends and killing someone Ichigo respected as an ally as well putting his friends and family at risk by wanting to destroy and remake the bleachverse. This makes it quite personal for Ichigo as well as quite practical. Now gaining the actual knowledge of what is up with Yhwach and the SK in the SK palace would also play a part in Ichigo's decision in not killing the Quincy he fights as it is clearly shown in the arrancar arc, Ichigo is a man of compassion and will not kill anyone he sees as just a cog in a machine which is what the arrancar he fights are and what the Quincy are specially with the knowledge he gains in the SK palace

I mean the theory comes from it being one of the only ways to beat the almighty... The almighty saw his bankai and destroyed it before it was used... Why? Because it must be able to change reality/future... Almighty only saw one option and that was to not even go against it...

In theory, it is just like every other bankai. Full access to one's powers. Ichigo is a hybrid, and because of that, he has access to the general abilities of every race in bleach. We know OG Zangetsu in shikai would pull spiritual energy and condense it for its attacks. That was told to us in Soul Society Arc. In the same arc, OG Tensa Zangetsu, upon activation, a vacuum like presence is used, pulling the dust into the air similar to how slavery is portrayed. We know Ichigo was mostly using his quincy abilities at this point. The final Gestuo Tensho also paralleled Uryu's usage of the Sangi glove (I can not remember the name of the move). As Ichigo seems to be able to use his Hollow powers in or near full in Shikai so should theoretically be able to do the same with his Quincy powers it likely would be the case that he can fully access all his powers in complete balance/pull off otherwise impossible feats like using both forms of blunt. Bankai is the equivalent of holy forms or resurrection and neither of those give unique abilities on their own. They just allow their user full access to their own abilities. The big question is does Ichigo have access to his hollow/quincy powers when his sword is in it's sealed state.

The big thing about end of series Ichigo is he had just unlocked his true power and his stunted growth for the entire series beforehand is acting almost like a slingshot in the development of his actual abilities. Ichigo goes from one move, Getsugatenshou, with two variations, a melee attack and a ranged sword beam to effortlessly changing the form and scope of the attack, mixing it with various other abilities and channeling different frequencies of spiritual power through it, all over the course of a few days after getting a real shinigami's zanpakuto. His form transformations are linear in most of bleach: sealed -> shikai -> bankai -> hollow mask -> post dangai training -> final getsugatenou with his forms changing slightly after his fullbring has merged with his shinigami powers. After attaining his true power, it seems that he can change his form as he sees fit, even in shikai and use those forms to augment and alter his normal abilities, however Ichigo's always had issues controlling his spiritual energy and that kind of fine control to incite form changes has got to be somewhere on the level of kido mastery. My theory on what Ichigo's bankai does is pretty straightforward: because what his true zanpakuto is is a representation of the balance between all of the races in Bleach within him, his Bankai enables the complete release of all of those racial abilities. While a character like Tosen with both Bankai and Resurrección can't use them at the same time, and a qunicy who has stolen a Bankai has their Vollstandig sealed so long as they hold it, Ichigo should be able to utilize the abilities of all of these transformations at once. I argue that "Vasto Lorde Ichigo" is actually a Resurrección because it's Ichigo, a shinigami-hollow hybrid, using a sword release to take on the appearance and powers of a full hollow and Ichigo's original "bankai" is actually a sort of quincy ability because it was given to him by the manifestation of his quincy powers and his zanpakuto spirit notes that he (white zangestu) got that [blade] the same time Ichigo did, meaning that it was not a full sword release that the zanpakuto spirit was withholding until bankai is properly achieved, but some other ability. (Also like... no shinigami has achieved bankai without a zanpakuto forged by Oetsu Nimaya, so...) Also the form Ichigo takes after Dangai training uses shadows like a qunicy of the wandenreich and functions a little too similarly to a quincy's Letzt Stil for my liking. Anyways... Shikai Ichigo could probably defeat any of the captains aside from Yamamoto, Unohana, Kyouraku, Ukitake and end of series Byakuya and Kenpachi pretty easily (if Toshiro has the time to utilize his completed Bankai him too but True Shikai Ichigo would absolutely dogwalk his normal Bankai), and I'd argue that Horn of Salvation Shikai is probably more powerful than any Shinigami in the Seireitei.

Would like to see an updated Yamamoto deep dive. Many are under the assumption that he is still stronger than many of the TYBW upgraded captains, and some think he is as strong as Fullbring Ichigo. It also always gets murky when some captains are warrior-type and others are more of a specialist-type. And some captains, given the circumstance can be those that would be considered stronger than them. Soifon comes to mind with her 2 tap ability or Mayuri/Urahara prep time. lol

@@chriswilson320 it could be true, but Yamamoto had to go completely all out to deal a fatal blow to someone merely using Yhwach physical strength. They didn't use any of the quincies power ups. You can obviously make the argument that base Yhwach is stronger than most quincies with their abilities, but it just seemed like Yhwach was playing around with Yamamoto while talking with aizen. Even yhwach's phrasing of Yama being much weaker could be taken as either physically or only mentally less ruthless. There are also a lot of powers in bleach that I think counter others pretty well, and maybe yamamotos bankai would put him at the top of the more physical bankai, but I feel like ichigo and kenpachi both had to have either gotten equal or surpassed him by the end of tybw

@@JBPVFL Well Ichigo is hardly a soul reaper by the end of the series. As for kenpachi, it really is hard to tell because he is still mastering his blade and has room to grow in the future. As for the fake Ywach, it is worth noting that Ryujin Jakka did a little damage to him and that an exhausted Ichigo did a little bit more than that. But at the same time, I don't there was a quincy besides Ywach who could handle Yamamoto, who he used a sternritter to exhaust with his level of power at that time before sweeping in for a kill. The problem with countering powers in bleach is that the two fighters have to be relative for their abilities to work on each other.

One gauge of power levels is the ease at which top tier Shinigami deal with Sternritter at Bambis level. Like Ichigo in Shikai just trolls the Bambi and has more than enough fire power to take them out. So far based on anime, Byakuya and Kenpachi could also take them out with ease using Shikai only but likely take some damage in return. All the other captains/ vice captains had to go bankai

The funny thing about Ichigo's powers is that they are all there since the begin, the weakness lies in Ichigos mind, to this day I still think the reason Ichigo have not acepted his hollow self is because a hollow killed Masaki, but after everything but rain Ichigo learned his hollow self is in truth a part of masaki soul he inherited thus giving him the confidence to use this powers without reservation ti the point of him using grand rei cero later.

I think there are characters who due to skill, underhandedness, or just having a power that changes what game is being played can handle Ichigo. I don't think he'd ever be comfortable with the thought of making an enemy of Urahara or Yamamoto (had he survived), and likely Shunsui and Yoruichi as well. Like you said with Askin, some powers just kind of hard-counter him, or how he goes about things.

This is one of the major things I will never forgive this arc for. You never get to see him truly go all out. Ive never been the biggest fan of how bulky Ichigo's true bankai is, and also never really liked how it's no longer a "clad type" While i dont expect anything out of the latter I do think it'd be cool if after mastering his new bankai it slims down heavily, still maintaining the same shape and design, just being thinner and faster looking Although if Kubo did want to eventually bring the clad type aesthetic back (especially considering he doesn't seem to have his ouken outfit anymore, which kind of completes the look), it'd be cool if he gained a cloak of reishi as a bit of quincy representation
