First Mass Effect is the best one. atleast in the first playthrough. ME2 was released when I thought do I want to play ME1 before 2. well I then selected ME1 and good thing that I played that first because the story is more thrilling that way. Too bad though that in the later entries the ME1 orignal writer (Drew Karpyshyn) quitted before ME3 and maybe we didn't get the resolution what he was thinking for the game finale? like the indoctrination idea got bogged down in ME2 and lot's of other things. it was there but yeah no more that "You come to idolize around him.." stuff. but nevertheless it's good game.
