Dvd then there's the FS... It wasn't bad... But I don't quite get how it's it supposed to actually fit into the rest of the series (logically, apparently it's supposed to be set between SOT&TWW) but it doesn't quite fit for me, at least

Currently replaying Prince of Persia 2008 and i disagree with pretty much everything. Elika and "prince" dynamic is easily best part of game, dialogues are pretty fun without being too cringe, reminded me of The Mummy type of writing. Combat is different from previous games but i wouldn't call it bad, it's more of 1 on 1 slow duels which can feel repetitive, but game not based around combat, platforming, chatter and battles are all well balanced, so no segment drag for too long. My only problem is actual Prince of Persia title, it only makes game being compared to previous games, ubisoft should've call it Legends of Persia or something and market it as spinoff instead of reboot.

I absolutely adore these games and WW is the reason I am into metal music. However, I cannot agree with the fact that Two Thrones does not have level design issues. The game was cobbled together within the last months of development as they wanted to make an open world game in Babylon called Kindred Blades. For example some of the early rooftop levels were for that purpose. Maybe it is not noticeable on one playthrough but A LOT of stuff repeats. The corridor where it's wallrun - knife in vent- jump, wallrun - knife in vent - jump is repeated like 10 times because they did not have a way to connect all of these pieces made for an open world, that had no connections. Another example is how at the beginning of the game, the Prince gets the dagger, then falls down the Palace's sewers - the Palace that it is in the city, one of the most important buildings - but he then ends up OUTSIDE the main walls. I love the game and it is still amazing what they managed to pull off with so little time...but it pisses me off that this is one of the earliest examples of Ubisoft management fucking a team up with deadlines and shit so hard...I would like to know what the first idea was. It is why the game is so short too.

In my heart I like the first one the most, but in terms of gameplay TT wins.

Thanks for the nostalgia! It's interesting how everyone perceives those games differently. My favorite is the Sands of Time, it felt the most vibrant and the simplest one - not in terms of difficulty but in terms of purity and enjoyment. The Warrior Within I remember beating (breaking the left stick on my controller in the process) but its edgy aesthetics and that 'Look, it's dark and bloody now!' thing didn't appeal to me. It might be partly because I worked as a PR guy for a local software publisher at that time that was officially localizing and publishing Ubisoft games so I was kind of fed up with Warrior Within before its release. And the Two Thrones I haven't even finished. I got it for Wii - and it looked so abhorrently ugly there and controlled so poorly I couldn't keep torturing myself. Looking at your footage now I can see how it could look - but even now it kinda looks even worse to me than two previous installments. I probably got traumatized by its horrible looks on Wii a little too deep however many years have passed (more than 15 now, man, time flies...). The rest of them I didn't even play.

Warrior Within to this day still is one of my all time favorites. It actually was my favorite for the longest time. The combat was mind blowing and flashy, the atmosphere was dark, moody and chilling perfectly capturing what it was actually trying to be. Of course the last thing that cemented it's legendary status in my eyes or should i say ears was the music. Of course it was not without it's faults nothing ever is but as an overall package it was one of the best. Lastly that flashy ability with the crimson screen.... It's pretty useful if you want to get the true final ending. Cough... Kaileena is not the real final boss... Ahem. PoP [2008] was basically what God of War is today. Cinematic and simplistic. Just not as well executed. And on a lesser budget. I haven't played the Rogue Prince yet but PoP from [2008] is definitely the weakest official entry. Though not without it's merits.

The reason you can't reach the ladder in the bath section, it's because water make your feet slippery and you can't climb easily. You see the animation is different and if there was no water you would have been able to grab the ladder. It was an insane detail in 2003, but now it looks a bit weird.

2 thrones in first place? Hm... I played these games on release and was a big fan of the first and second games. But 2 of Thrones promised to be a completely different game. When it came out I immediately saw degradation in camera control and level design. in the sense that the game has become super linear, although before the game was released, Ubisoft promised free movement throughout Babylon! Acrobatics and combat system became less creative than in WW. Even the graphics and model of the prince became somewhat choppy. In general, I like the Sands of Time trilogy, but 2 of Thrones was somewhat of a disappointment and a step backwards. POP1 SoT - 9/10 POP2 WW - 10/10 POP3 TT - 7/10 POP 2008 - 6/10 POP FS - 7/10 POP TLC - Fortnite/10 R POP - 10 cent/budget There are more mechanics in the first and 2nd princes that you did not discover. - There was a counter-punch after a block from the very first prince. - Also in the first prince, you can finish off enemies not only on the floor, if immediately after jumping over an enemy you hit once with a sword and the second with a dagger, then the prince will devour the enemy while standing, immediately at the end of the jump. - in the second prince there are many ways to control the crowd and jump over heads, from the enemy through and immediately from, etc., make deadly grabs, various blows from the wall and after running up the wall, 2 types of blows around a pillar, etc. The combat system is the most varied and free, creative, almost like in a slasher film. - The problem of Backtracking in the second prince arises only if you do not understand where, how and why you are going. On my first playthrough, I also got lost on the map. But the second and subsequent passages I never got lost and did not pass through the same place 2 times in vain. - In 2 thrones, there is practically no creativity in combat. In acrobatics too. There is always only one linear way to go further along the linear path, more scripted moments. Having received a sword of light at the end that kills everyone with one blow, speed kill systems (stealth kills) become absolutely absurd, because... at the end of the game, difficult enemies require a lot of QTE hits, and it's easier to just walk up and hit 1 time with the sword of light, instead of QTE, it's weird. In general, the game was heavily cut up and it’s noticeable. - On the contrary, I like the dark aesthetics and chic music of POP2 WW. + there was a bloody dismemberment there! and at 2 thrones she disappeared again. :(

I just replayed sands of time classic a few months ago and it still good, you can just ignore enemies and keep the path to save time. For warrior within replaybility all enemies have the same aggresive i.a. no matter the dificulty it only changes the damage and health bar. For a quick challenging gameplay i prefer to play it on easy without any health enhancements, that way everything is more fluid. Two trones is my favorite game and in hard is a little spongy but just a little so you can enjoy it at that, or just play on normal with no life nhancements.

For me warrior within was the first game I have ever completed and it took me a long long time to complete and perhaps thats why it is my favourite of the whole pop franchise, I didn't feel any of its shortcomings as shortcomings, I loved the story and the music especially how I had the chance to change a sad ending to a happy one within the journey to changing fate. Pop 2008 is my 2nd most favourite, because of the story, the art style and the music, it made the experience so wholesome. And for me the combat of 2008 was way better than the mandatory timed combat for bosses and charriot sessions of two thrones. The two thrones is the one I hate the most. The story didn't fit well with me and the combat systems as i mentioned above. I loved the fact of not repeating same areas though but that somehow made it less memorable for me as I didn't get enough time to get attached to any location. Also the view from the tower were the only memorable moments. Also hated the fact that i had to fight my partner who helped me all along, perhaps the twist was too much to understand for the young me, hence the only game I have ever played just once.

I love your videos, but you come into this having previously played basically one of them and absolutely dunk on the only one that felt the most fun to play, despite it's "you literally can't die" mechanic, which, yeah, is cheap as F, but it was the atmosphere, the progression, even the goofy dialogue (which was ironically less goofy than the "serious" goofy dialogue from the earlier games) made it a game I go back and actually replay now and again, which I cannot say for any of the others (apart from the original, mainly because I wanted to understand how my Dad could beat it when I was 8 and I ran out of time every time I tried back then and still do to this day :D, that and I loved the "shuffle" movement aspect). You assigned five minutes of an hour (and five minute) long video to this game, and I have no idea why. I'm aware I'm whining like a little bitch right now, so replace the usual grain of salt with a rock, but I just wish you'd put in the time to understand the game instead of saying "it wasn't like the ONE Prince of Persia game I played, it sucks". Yeah it was different, yeah you couldn't die (sands of time anyone?), but it was a beautiful game and the only one (other than the original as I mentioned) that I ever go back to, and you just dunked on it for ~5 minutes...you could have at least dunked on it for the fifteen minutes you gave every other game, at least then I wouldn't be here feeling like I got dunked on and wouldn't be leaving this dumbass comment ;D Apart from that, good shit, as always, my fellow RRRRRRPG loverrrr! 1. Warrior Within had big rewritting. You were sopouse to be also hunted by your enslaved Prince from different time (kinda like when you use thr mask) and Dahaka was ment to serve the Empress. Not sure why they rewrote it, because I prefer the original story, but that probably explains repeated golemn boss. The fact they made Metroidvenia instead of Action Platformer probably contributed to the rewritting. 2. Vezir became Zurvan, aka. Zoroastrian God of Time. When you said you feel cut content, that's because there is. Evety time you stab that sand protal, you should've been teleported ti elemental level where you cut Vezir's powers which is when it was revealred he became Zurvan. Out of all cut content this is the only thing I regret. 3. Prince of Persia 2008 was fun. When it comes to Metroidvenia it is far superior then Warrior Within, atmosphere is amazing, especially because it is a story that uses Zoroastrian mythology to its fullest. and I prefer Elika far more then Empress (Farah was the vest one). Prince was but annoying, but I guess that's preference. But to be fair, It shouldn't be called Prince of Persia and it did huge diservice to everyone. 4. Forgotten Sands is just game that exists. It's not bad, but it's not good either. It's just there adding nothing to the story that already had perfect beggining, middle and end. I can't think of any reason why game exists except for quick bucks. Come to think of it is exactly like Assassin's Creed after Black Flag.

The voice actor for the prince is different, the music is replaced with metal of all genres which feels very out of place (not saying it's bad per se), the whole game is dark and edgy both visually and tonally, trying its hardest to be God of War without having combat system that is as good as the one of that game. I jumped into the game after finishing Sands of Time and I was shocked by the tonal change. Gone are the character development of prince and Farah and their interesting conversations and you play as this angry, boring dude.
