it's fun to see a newer touhou player like this, because i've only started playing touhou this summer my experience with ran was different, because i found the siege spellcard to be very manageable and i couldn't capture ultimate buddhist - now i know that i wasn't close enough when it was the red phase also shikigami "chen" was the reason i couldn't beat this extra for a while, she just killed me 4-5 times in a row chen's midboss nonspell seemed hard to you, but i got consistent at it very easily, maybe because i am a fan of the "overlapping bullets" patterns i didn't really like when i got through the tedious stage, have beaten ran and then was going to try phantasm, but it's just the same tedious stage, this time being even more painful, so i didn't do it overall, the pcb extra made me a chen and ran fan, because they're so cute when they come to beat you up with this music

personally i found balance of motion and stillness way easier than banquet though, i also never properly learned banquet so maybe that's a factor

Final spell, also known as stand still. Bullets travel in straight lines, forming many spots that are nearly undisturbed by bullets. It'll take some more experience before you're able to spot such lanes, of course, but once you do, you'll see how much of a joke it is if you can remain calm and observe instead of fluttering around in panic.

Good Job Now Loathe the fact that you will have to fight Hecatia and Koishi. Who are more than 5x as hard as these. Imagine Yukari on Steroids, that's what Hecatia is like.

Based on how smoothly you handled Ran/Yukari, you shouldn't have too much trouble with the other extras until you hit the usual suspects (SA, UFO, LoLK). Although EoSD and TD may be a bit harder than you'd expect mainly cause they're pretty stingy with resources in extra.

I'm surprised you chose pcb extra stages first in this video, because pcb extra feels a lot more harder than the most easiest, most definitely a starter, mof extra stage. I hope you do try to play mof extra and post a video about it in your other channel, because its one of my favorite extra stages. I love how energetic the stage is and how Native Faith (Suwako's theme) fits a lot in this stage.

The damage is not great of course but it does bring something unique in the entirely homing shot without a straight main shot. It has to be one of the best beginner shots in the series if nothing else.

i don't really enjoy the extras cause they're too long. the pc98 ones i can at least bear cause they're way shorter, thanks in part to bosses not having spell cards or more specifically nonspells, meaning there isn't a filler pattern in between phases that breaks up the pacing of the fight i already had a not so favourable opinion of pcb, and phantasm didn't help matters. it's practically an exact clone of extra and i would argue it isn't any harder, and possibly easier even. i had no lives when i beat extra, and two when i beat phantasm yes yukari has another timeout, but it's easily made up for by being guaranteed to get the last point item extend unlike in extra. charming siege and princess tenko are also 10x harder than yukari's equivalents, the latter often forcing me to use several bombs, though in fairness i played sakuya A when i would've fared better with reimu or sakuya B. ran is also an easier midboss than chen: her first card is just basic streaming while chen's is incredibly random. phantasm does have faster bullets, but because of this they also don't stay on screen for as long, and as such are less likely to wall. easily my least favourite part however was being required to cap 60 cards just to unlock it, in a game without spell practice, and the unlock code wasn't known yet at the time IN was apparently also supposed to have phantasm but fortunately it didn't also i like evening star more than necrofantasia

About the yukari difficulty debate it should be mentioned that her double black death butterfly and 2nd spell mesh of light and darkness are harder than ran, it is not an easy thing to decide. There are also other differences but those are most important along with what you mentioned.

Chen's spellcard are easier because you can just bomb. In general, Ran's spellcards have easier way to deal with. Yukari's ones don't have such weaknesses. 4th and 8th spellcards are probably only exceptions. 5th Ran's spell is not that hard. Plenty of space to dodge, how you find it more difficult than Yukari's... My only problem was is that I was getting tired after 60 seconds of quick movement. It's like endurance test, but nothing really difficult. I like Necro-Fantasy more than Necrofantasia.

@@IvanBaAl961 Yukari's fifth spell card just adds lasers, that for most part are completely irrelevant to how you dodge it. In exchange, she does each wave slower. By the time it times out, Ranshoots like every second, while Yukari is still pretty slow.

Touhou 7's Extra stage and Phantasm stage felt like entire journeys the first time lmao. And somehow I think that Chen's first spell and Banquet of Twelve General Gods is harder than the Phantasm counterparts.
