The amount of deck variety and interesting duels stacked ontop of this spicy new editing we've gotten recently and you get my favorite Ladder climb in a long while. Volcanic Emperor is such a cool boss monster
@hondo42356 ай бұрын
For real, I was talking with my friends last night trying to think of actual cool boss monsters that aren't big floodgates, quick effect removal, nuke boards, negates, or attack for 1,000,000 damage and this card came up. I understand you can only come up with so many different types of boss monsters, but this one is super cool.

1:05:40 Fun anecdote about "Spirit Of The Flames" the original text on the card didn't say anything about not being able to normal summon the card. So when my siblings and myself played YGO as kids, we would normal summon the card, and just went by what the card said, it could ONLY be special summoned by a fire monster being removed from play from the graveyard, we also didn't understand the card itself was what removed the fire monster from play, so we basically worked under the assumption that any time a Fire Monster was banished, it would special summon itself from the hand or graveyard. We all thought it was a really cool card, and wished there were enough good fire monsters and ways to banish monsters to really get a lot of play out of it. Then we found out what it's effect was actually supposed to be, and honestly... the real effect is far better for the playground format we had going on. Though our interpretation of the effect would have made it a stupidly good card. Imagine that for a moment a level 4 that special summons itself any time a fire monster is banished, with no once per turn. That would be busted.

At 43:06 when the Imperm is resolving but doesnt negate the effect of the Emperor, is it because the Emperor was banished by the time the Imperm resolved? I don't understand how the burn effect still managed to go through

Burn is a glorious thing to play in motion; nothing quite like the joy of seeing Maxx C in response to a Trickstar deck setting up. What a fun episode - great editing and you were a joy to watch as always Joe. Volcanics have been one of my favourite decks ever since their release, burn is an interesting strategy that has never been fully utilised outside of Gimmick FTKs, so it’s nice to see a deck that has a legitimate strategy built around it (with the low chance of being able to FTK making that angle feel less gimmicky) Also they have both an awesome aesthetic, inspiration and were used by one of GXs best characters! Always fun

How do the bomb tokens work? Does the effect that summons them include the burn damage when that specific one is destroyed? The way it's worded doesn't really sound like that. Or is it an effect that lingers for the rest of the duel and burns for every destroyed bomb token, no matter how it was put on the field? or is the burn inherent to the tokens? Though, so far only Ejection and Trooper summon them.
@matiaspereyra93926 ай бұрын
The tokens are normal monsters but the card that summons it applies a lingering effect on the specific tokens they've summoned, so even if trooper is not on the field anymore you can still get burned by its tokens Or at least that's what I could gather looking at rulings

I feel like its hard to determine the cost stat for these decks now b/c by the time you start a new deck, you already have a majority of the card from past pack openings so the cost is not very accurate. This was fine in the early stages of master duel. At the same time, the new cards you start to acquire have yet to be in a dispersed into a secret pack. Also what you send is not necessarily the last build you end on

I am curious, why do you keep using Mourning Chill instead of just Effect Veiler. Veiler is ran most often
@HardlegGaming7 ай бұрын
Moonlit Chill deals effect damage equal to the negated monster's attack when it leaves the field. So if I can negate a monster with 2k attack or more, and the opponent links it off, it puts them significantly closer to being defeated with the burn damage of Emperor.
