XP12's replay mode is miles better than XP11's. When I upgraded to XP12 I was astonished at the fact how seeking to a previous moment of the flight didn't take 5-10 business days to do.

While MSFS wipes the floor overall graphically, I actually slightly prefer X-Plane 12's colours. It's kind of hard to explain, but I find that MSFS seems to have this artificial warmth to it that looks a bit yellow, like faint yellow haze. Other than that though, MSFS looks miles better overall.

you can tweak the colors and atmosphere in msfs. however MSFS is far better than xplane in any way. in physics and scenery, and also the whole quality of the aircraft. you should never look back at xplane. delete it, and forget about it.

continuing, xplane is much cheaper with addons considered… You have the zibo which is on par with the PMDG 737 Toliss Aircraft which is about 80$ each, pretty sure cheaper then msfs aircraft Study level 757/767 study level 777-200 coming soon I own both sims, and I must say msfs looks better overall but the performance is much worse then xplane 12, and with a 1660ti and 7th gen intel core, I cant run the pmdg 777-300 more then 24 fps on medium settings. I believe that msfs aircraft developers focus more on detail more then optimization AND detail which toliss, zibo and flightfactor does beautifully. Its mostly just preference though

In order for X-Plane 12 to compare graphics wise to MSFS you need mods like SimHeaven (roads and trees), VisualXP (better lighting, shaders, and clouds), and AutoOrtho (satellite image textures). All of these pair well together to make it look very nice :)

Welcome to X-Plane! Most of the default aircraft in X-Plane aren't the greatest, so you should totally download the Zibo 737-800 (study-level and free) if you'd like something close to the PMDG 737-800.

Nicely done review! Just got XP12 today (upgraded over ~6 years of XP11) and honestly, I'll take it over MSFS any day of the week. While XP doesn't have MSFS-level graphics out of the box, it also doesn't have the funky UI, cheesy gamification, or reliability issues that come with what amounts to a perpetual beta release. You _can_ get great graphics in XP12 with added textures/terrains, but that requires additional purchases, patience, and technical fortitude - and of course, the terrains aren't global. MSFS is great for people who want to play an out-of-the-box video game with nice graphics; XP12 is better suited for people who want to utilize an actual simulator with functional realism for procedural training/immersion.

i got xplane 12 and paired it with a stick and throttle my favorite plane there is the md80 (i also like how there are additional warnings such as bank angle warnings for planes) and i also appreciate how it’s easier to hold reverse thrust in landing (you just press a button on the throttle and it stays on reverse throttle until you press that button again)

I have both and I like X-Plane 12 because the graphics are consistent and pretty good. MSFS looks wonderful as long as their servers are not bottlenecked with users then all the buildings look like ancient ruins. It's not my internet connection because I have a high speed fiber optic connection running at 10 Gigabits per second . It's not my graphics card either because 50% of the time everything is clear as a bell in MSFS.

I own xp11 and xp12. I'm starting to believe that it doesn't. Xplane 12 uses blade element theory while msfs uses computational fluid dynamics for their flight model. In contrast BET have accurate simulation for the airframe but very limited while CFD have more capabilities. I have to give up on x plane 12 and give credits to Asobo.

Xplane is not about the graphics...it is about experimentation and hyper realism. You can fly on mars, fly in orbit, fly helps or fixed wing, build rocket cars...when you rip off a wing in xplane, you ride it to the ground. I have even had piston engines separate from plane in flight.

So, you said that the physics of msfs and Xplane are the same. They are not. I have both sims, and I’m familiar with each and I can tell you the physics in Xplane are miles better. You can feel the weight of the aircraft when you are flying it in Xplane 12. Aircraft feel more like the real ones. Not to mention there is a professional Xplane version used in training. Yes, in graphics msfs wins, but if you are talking about flight model or physics, Xplane wins easy. Even the fenix A320 doesn’t compare with the tollis a320 physics. There are also free mods like there is the Zibo 737 (which is basically pmdg quality), just like there is the fbw a320 in msfs. There is also some satellite scenery in Xplane. The streaming program is called auto ortho, or if you want to download millions of gb on your computer there is the ortho4xp. Xplane has also much more quality mods than msfs. You just have to search literally any modern aircraft and you have it. A320, A330, A340, A350, A300, A310, B737, B747(there is a -400 variant which is free for xplane12, just search sparky 747. There is a -200 and it’s payware, but it’s one of the best aircraft in Xplane. Just search felis 747), B757, B767, B777, B727, B707, MD11(which is the best md11 in any simulator, mabye even study level) MD80, Embarer and many more!

I have both Xplane and MSFS, but it's been a while since I booted Xplane. I love flightsimming for just mindlessly exploring areas. ILats week I crossed the USA 3 times, one time on a southerly route (Florida - San Diego) and a middle routre and a northern route. I really gives you an imprsssion of what those areas look like, especially in VR. In Xplane you coul;d maybe accomplsh something similar but you need hundreds of gigs of ortho, mods to get proper trees and all that jazz, and roads look funny and are exactly the same everywhere, while in MSFS I can just use the out of the box experience and get satellite imagery of the roads everywhere. For me the physics in MSFS are good enough to get a good impression of what the planes I fly are ike. I mostly use the Vision jet and the Comanche (which is awesome), as well as the new Duke. With MSFS 2024 on the horizon, I see little to no future for Xplane for me. Kind of a shame, because I wish XPlane could still offer some good competition. But judging from the comments, they will always have a crowd that prefer Xplane, so I hope it'll be enough to keep them going!

I know I'm very late, but he did use parking brake nearly every landing, he didn't use toe brakes nor did he use autobrakes. The parking brake is insanely strong, same as real life. If you have ever done a run up check in real life you know these parking brakes can stop my Cessna from rolling fowards at 2100 full power (Cessna 172R) For people wondering how I know he was using parking brake, theres a sound for it. Sometimes covered by his voice over thus why I am saying "nearly every"

My Track IR works for DCS, Star Citizen , MSFS 2020 with zero issues. I decided to get X Plane 12. Track IR is floaty and playing "catch up " to where I look. Tried different profiles , etc. Really weird. I suppose I will ask for a refund while I am within my 2 hour playtime.

sorry for the long comment it's just pointing some things out for the next time 2:19 in your graphics settings you can adjust your FOV which lets you zoom out more also use shift + 4 will give you another external camera option, it isn't like MSFS that it follows the direction of the plane but it's far better than most of the external views also X plane 11 and 12 really dislike when you try to see the beggining of the flight though ( i assume because both can't handle trying to load everything and crash) you can rewind it with the buttons that are in the top of the replay bar and i think many people already mentioned this, but Stock X plane aircraft physics wise they're pretty bad, mainly because nobody uses them and they come from X plane 11 or earlier, i highly suggest trying a proper addon aircraft like the Zibo Mod 737 or something like the ToLiss Airbuses which as far as people tell me it's better than the Fenix A320 (but that's system wise) 8:48 as far as i know you can fix that using ortho4xp it's free and you can also get satellite scenery but it's heavy on the Storage depending on the zoom level (quality level) also side note you can setup custom views if you search up quick views in the keybind settings, there are videos that explain it better than this 14:45 personal opinion X plane is more Freeware friendly you will spend less money on X plane since the amount of free content (X plane has more addons than MSFS ever had (if you include X Plane 11) not only that but a lot are pretty good, like the Zibo mod 737 which is, if not one of the most accurate 737s for any sim (but that's personal opinion) MSFS is hit or miss with free addons, either they are FSX conversions or have a different cockpit than the plane or really really bad in all ways, payware addons doesn't get any better since the only good stuff is inibuilds, PMDG and the fenix a320 the rest is either good or just scam, X plane payware is very good you got a lot of studios with many high fidelity aircraft (Inibuilds, ToLiss, Rotate, Flight Factor, FlyJsim and a few others)

Yes, it is true that xplane is slightly superior in that aspect, but it is NOT at all light years away as many xplane fanboys try to make it seem. In 2020 msfs was a lot more inferior in physics but if there is one thing Asobo has done since the simulator came out, it is to keep updating it. And today, 2024, things are much more different than in 2020. Both are peak in physics nowdays.

Me as a XPlane 12 and MSFS player must say that XPlane 12 flight physics are much better then in MSFS. The Updates got them in the right Direction but XPlane in my eyes is clearly further. I am completely Neutral, either a fan of XPlane or MSFS

@@burgadahz17 Just watch Cpt Blackbox on one of his streams a few weeks ago. He stated that MSFS-physics were « very basic » and he lost hope that they will get any better. His only hope is that the next version will have improved those. But it is not out yet.

One thing i've noticed flying my local IRL and in both Xplane 12 and MSFS is that the ground textures everyone tries to dog on xplane for, are actually so much more realistic it's insane. MSFS has the color palette of what a kindergartener would draw. It's far too vibrant and immediately ruins any vfr expirience because it just looks stupidly unrealistic which is crazy becuase they could've just left the bing photos but they messed with them too much to where theres no point. Not to mention actually good realistic looking ortho is free in xp and takes like 20 mins of setup to start making.

fairly sure you can change the fov, or at least you can in x plane 11, in the settings. and the md83 i believe was an x plane 10 model, hence the textures looking not the best

@@bluetones69 Anyone that says MSFS 2024 is better hasn't been behind the controls of a real plane. While they've certainly improved over 2020, just give some hard rudder input or do a max autobrake landing and you'll see how silly the physics still are.

I'm looking to buy x plane 12... my MSFS won't even launch and I've had about enough of it.... endless mandatory updates that never finish and only start over. At 0% even after updating for hours and hours. Hoping x plane 12 will be a better alternative.
