@@zdono just type in genre, system, character design, story, or whatever things you remember about the game (or thing) you're looking for, so basically use effort... thats what i mean by googling. It cant take much time to find yr answers as theres so much conversations/articles/videos about all sorts of things online today. And trust me people talk about things from their childhood a lot and are searching for these things. This is actually what a lot of people do. I usually find names of things based on descriptions within seconds and i dont remember their names for decades and others do too. If you type a name of a thing thats not a search, but that should be obvious ... just to explain clearly what i originally meant.

@jmap4 жыл бұрын
Played this when it came out (I am old), so some things like the camera issues didn’t stand out at the time. It was my favourite adventure game for a long time. Looking back at it now I have to say it doesn’t seem to have aged all that badly. Characters, while stylised, are pretty sharp. Environments don’t look all that pretty, but there is quite a variety of moods and atmospheres here, far from the generic settings of many games of the time. And that fucking music, man. It still haunts me.
@KingAlone5164 жыл бұрын
got this game back in 2001 and it became one of my favorites of all time. i always wanted a sequel because even though i got all the endings (i think it was 6) there were things in the story that didn't really make sense or felt unanswered. but after almost 20 years I'm starting to realize that some scenarios were just poorly written in the story or they could've even possibly cut certain things out of the game so other things could fit in making the reason for certain moments seem not entirely explained. still a classic game tho IMO.

I keep having to tell people this-Eike can't control the times available for him to travel to. The Digipad is influenced by the people and places he comes into contact with.
@thorhighheels9 жыл бұрын
+SyberiaWinx I know that. It wasn't so much a critique on Eike's actions, but more so on how it just seemed a bit far fetched from a writers standpoint. I should've cleared that up a bit better maybe? I dunno, I don't think it's a big deal anyway. If anything, it only makes the game more memorable.
@SyberiaWinx9 жыл бұрын
+ThorHighHeels Well, they needed to get Eike to different time periods. And story-wise, there is another reason for it. That was the whole point of the switch.

I still really love this game. Sure there are allot of flaws with it such as the controls. but its story was great and really, THIS is the games that other games should be looking to when it comes to the "choose your own adventure" plot as it really feels WAY different depending on what decisions you make. This game is better than almost every choose your own adventure games when it comes to choices. Your criticisms are very valid when it comes to the awkwardness of the setting, the horrible controls and the graphics and (absolutely terrible voice acting...except for the old guy with his cat. which I thought that guy had a very good voice actor. the plot involving saving his wife was one of my favourite parts of the game).and about the graphics when you said "im sure this may have looked mind blowing when it first came out". I played it in 2003 and it really looked pretty bad. then again 2001 was very much a transition period, the PS2 was VERY early in its cycle (it got released in 2000). So, many of the games released in that period looked like a KINDA better looking PS1 game.
@thorhighheels8 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Not sure how well I state this in the video it's self, but I absolutely love this game as well. Easily one of my favorite adventure games! Even the overall awkwardness kinda adds to just how surreal the game feels. Iz a good.

Using a 4 years old comment to add my thoughts Is really bad, but maybe there are other retrogames fans that like to read old comments, so I will do It. This game is the perfect example of why, at the end of the day, what matters for Adventure Games is being interesting, not working as AAA action games do, or better graphically. The perfect opposed example is Zero Time Dilemma. It should be illegal for such an engaging story like that of 999+VLR end up in a not so satisfying way because too many resources were spent on shitty 3d models.

I love these types of games. I needed a game like Shenmue and as soon as I saw this game I knew I had to get it back in the early 2000s. **Spoiler Alert** I played this game again 15 years later. One chapter of the game has you come across a character by the name of Mr. Eckhart. Mr. Eckhart has a tragic backstory. His wife was murdered 20 some odd years ago and his baby daughter went missing and never seen again. I actually found a way to save Mrs. Eckhart - I did not know this was an option! It's a small opportunity that presents itself, so it's easy to miss. If you like games such as Shenmue, D4 (Dreamcast), and Deadly Premonition then I recommend you play this game if you can find it.
