Stacey, please don’t be sorry for sharing your emotions. Too many would rather walk by, ignore, or pretend everything is okay. Being willing to share this and be vulnerable with an emotion that so many of us share is welcomed, loved, and appreciated. @TheDirge69 I don't agree. When our government spends over a trillion dollars per year on defense, they have the ability to wipe out this problem. But many of our politicians would rather play political games and they don't care who gets hurt in the process. Just look at how long it took for the burn pit victims just to get medical treatment. And even when it finally passed, some of the politicians had to be shamed into passing the bill.

I served 1997-2003. But I can't even be near alcohol. Have to avoid it entirely (even avoiding restaurants where it is served). I have zero control when it's there. Some deep seeded need to eliminate as much brain activity as possible or something. Haven't managed to kick the cigs or coffee, though. I find sleeping more than a couple of hours at a time to be nearly impossible as well, but instead of alcohol to block out enough to get at least a bit of rest, I have now gone the thc route. Seems to numb me up better with far fewer consequences and no risk of repeat alcohol poisoning.

That tore up my sinus which I had to have surgery on a couple of years later but while I was still in service. I know this song very well as I'm a fan of the band, but your reaction brought me to tears because we both come from Military families. I resent the way our veterans are treated and have been treated for way longer than this video depicts. It makes you realize what's important to the elites and what isn't. This had been going on way before Vietnam ever started and only got worse. That lyric tells the story and a lot more....So when we have discussions about pride for our country....veterans that have seen hell first hand, and don't know how to forget it....need to be put first in line for help when they get home. Not people crossing the border with a hand out saying my country won't afford me a free living...

This song never fails to hit home and the music does a fantastic job of grabbing your heart. Ivan Moody is an excellent and powerful singer indeed. I love the way he can quite literally sing a roar that expresses pain, anger and anguish. What I always take from this song is the reality that our soldiers are citizens who feel a calling to serve their country only for our greedy politicians to misuse that calling to duty. Our soldiers believe they are meant to protect their home country, but are sent into unjust conflicts. They are shoved through wars that we don't belong in or should have started, fighting and dying for causes We The People did not vote for. They come home broken in body and spirit or in a box, having lost brothers and seen carnage and inflicted death and pain upon others and in the end they don't feel like heros because there was never a truly justified cause to believe in to begin with. They come home asking themselves "what the hell did we go do all that for?" and the only answer they can find is that our politicians told them to. My dad is a 75yo Vietnam War veteran and he still talks and fights in his sleep, sometimes to the point that I wake him so he can start over in his rest. Our soldiers' duty and sacrifices are abused and misused for the greed of career politicians who have lost touch with the people and the righteousness of their office duties. A bit of a rant here I know, but this song always reminds me that our soldiers come back feeling like they were "on the wrong side of heaven and the righteous side of hell" because we have been going to wars without a passion for a justified cause. Men do terrible things in war and if they cannot feel that they had a cause to believe in to attach the violence to and justify it then it will destroy them internally. A man's conscience is a powerful thing. It will lead him to do amazing things or tear him apart for doing terrible things.

I appreciate your emotional reflection on the song and the information presented from the video. As a Veteran who served in combat I ask that you reflect on this as well: Every military member; active, retired, disabled, etc. has a different experience and are affected differently. That goes for anyone that takes part in any organization. we all have our own stories. Some have stronger bonds than others. The stronger bonds I had were lost in combat. Therefore, I tend to be a little bitter about what I did and the way Society treats us, I often prefer not to mention my service because there's a severe lack of understanding and genuine appreciation. At the same time it's not the average Americans fault as they have not seen what I've seen, nor had to do what I did, and to be humble many more service members did so much more than myself, my contributions were very little, even in the short time I was overseas. I am grateful for the small pension I receive for my disability as I know so many more fellow veterans unjustly receive far less help than what I have been given. As it goes for so many of us, My wife will never know what I went through, nor will my children. It is difficult to talk about not so much for myself but more for the sake of not wanting them to know the pain and loss. I prefer them to see me as a loving father and husband that is here for them every day rather than a survivor that is lucky to be alive. There is more to me than the 8 years I served. That was only a part of my life, I want you to know the rest of it. I wish everyone the best. Thank you.

i've also got very emotional watching this... my mother's late husband was a soldier in the Belgian army. And there's a song that will always be engraved in my mom's memory, the one from when he left for ex-Yugoslavia, this song created to say goodbye to them and perhaps forever was Conquest of Paradise by Vangelis. we heard it at my goddaughter's school party and she fell apart at the first note. All that to say, don't apologize for showing those tears, it happens to everyone, especially with lyrics that are sometimes very hard to take. Thank you.

As someone currently serving and someone that comes from a long line of military members, I want to thank you for your support, you just earned yourself another subscriber. I love watching people react to this song for the first time and I love Five Finger Death Punch because they have a wide range of songs that go from tugging at the heart strings to heavy rock that gets your blood pumping. I will say that this song has never made me cry or tear up, but Gone Away by them gets me every single time, it’s another military themed song and if you watch it, bring your tissues.

As a 47yo male with 2 sons, I have many family members how have and are still serving. I have this song on my KZbin playlist and every time I see this video I cry. Watching people to react to it is one of my favorite things, because people in service member families know but most others don't. THANK YOU to all our great service members male and female, current or veteran. You are all true patriots and I love you all for giving your service to our country.

Thank you for being you. I’m a retired soldier with 3 combat tours. Even though our government has let us down, it’s people like you and artists like Five Finger Death Punch, KISS, Trace Adkins and Toby Keith who help by shedding light on the struggles that the veterans of our country face every day.

I come from many generations of military. I was not allowed to serve due to physical disabilities, but I can tell you that your tears while watching this are the exact right reaction. I graduated in the early 2000s, and have lost countless friends in the war. Some of those that I lost are still alive; but what they experienced has destroyed them to the point of no longer being themselves. My heart breaks for all the veterans and their families. To every veteran that happens to see this from home: I'm glad you made it home❤. To any who see this while serving: my highest love, respect, and gratitude to you❤.

I have to make this very important statement! I served for 10 years, an Arabic linguist. I'm a disabled vet, and the amazing healthcare I get from the VA these days is incredible!! Thank you, SO MUCH, VA for caring about us. The care today is 10000000% better than it was years ago. I love the VA today.

I spent 18 years in the US Army and 18 months in Iraq. The song makes me tear up every time. It's so real how so many of my friends fell throw the cracks. I was lucky to have a Military Family and dozens of military friends to lean on after my return from the sand box. It's a real gut punch.

Stacy your emotions are what EVERYONE should feel. I'm a army veteran myself and to see you get so emotional show's how well they actually put this together. This whole song and many other songs from five is talking about veterans. I completely understand how you're feeling for I tear up every time I watch this video but can't get enough... You have opened up a big rabbit hole that you truly need to go down, for they're one of the few bands that hit home with basically every song they put out.... Millions of people can't be wrong when they get behind a band like Five Finger

I am a Navy Vet that was medically retired after 2 years. The guy with the beard is someone I can relate with. It has been nearly 20 years since my service and I still have problems associated with my time in service and find myself in a dark place all the time. I now have a strong support system at home now. I am working on helping my sisters and brothers in arms by donating part of my profits to a veteran outreach charity.

Sadly it’s not just the US. A Canadian woman who was paralyzed in the military but became a para-athlete was working to get a lift installed in her home to give her access. They told her they didn’t know if it could be done but they offered her something called MAID or medical assistance in dying! Yes they offered her help ending her life rather than a way to make it better!

15 year Navy Seabee veteran OIF/OEF, this song hits me hard every time. I've lost more brothers and sisters after we got home then while in theater. The lyrics really speak to veterans, understand that we commit felonies on behalf of the US government. We take lives, we destroy, but we also build and save lives. So yes, we are on the wrong side of Heaven and the righteous side of hell. We came home with promises and cheering crowds, but the moment we need help, we are ignored. Heaven and Hell again, and it's not getting any better. I was facing homelessness, reached out to a so called veteran's group called Mount Carmel, I did everything they asked immediately and they drug their feet to the point they couldn't afford to help me. Long story short, I needed $900 to pay rent, by the end of it all, I was $5k in the hole all because they kept stringing me on. I know that's anecdotal but it's just one example of how we are treated after honorably serving our country with our lives, risking the relationships of our families, and complete uncertainty for an entire deployment. And people wonder why we choose to end it. Now, all that being said, thank you for covering this song and bringing light to this issue.
