Just a suggestion, when filling a mold, if you can get one of those vibrating back massagers, and then run it while touching it onto the side of the mold, then the vibration will move any bubbles and air pockets up and out of the mold. We did this when making fake teeth and fang molds and it works great!.

This is coming along great! Glad you figured out that the pressure pot was the problem. As soon as you mentioned putting the casting into the pot, I thought, "Don't do it!". You would probably want to infuse the print with resin and let it cure if you want to keep the print from sucking up the "rubber". This is why it's so dangerous to use 3D prints with food contact such as bowls, cups, etc. FDM prints are way more porous than they look. You can imagine how impossible it would be to clean bacteria out of all the layers lines.

When you cast your tire, tilt the mold to one side on a wedge of wood or something and the bubbles will work their way up to the top. And the resin worked into the print because you pressure cast it. Normally its too viscous for that. But yeah, great stuff and it looks awesome!!
@RichardThompsonCA23 сағат бұрын
I've had that inhibition happen before casting a urethane product into a brand new tin cure mold. You have to bake the mold once, when new, for about 4 hours at 160 degrees to eliminate all the alcohols and moisture that's created during curing.

Random idea, perhaps you could add a couple of servos in Bender's head to turn his eyes and his head slightly as you turn the car. To make it look more alive. I think you can use a different receiver, battery pack and servos, and just use the same frequency of the car. It's going to make the build a lot more complex, so maybe don't do it :P It's already fantastic as it is! Can't wait to see Bender's head completed!

You can adjust the camber on the front wheels by making adjustments to the turnbuckles
@punishedpropsКүн бұрын
After driving it a bunch this weekend I definitely think it needs some adjustment. 👍
@Beef4Dinner2218 сағат бұрын
@@punishedprops It also looked like the suspension was compressed more than it should be, which is probably part of the reason for the wheels rubbing on the body (and contributing to the camber being off). I imagine that the new body is a decent bit heavier than the old one. It looks like the springs are adjustable, you should be able to tighten the nuts on the coil-over shocks to adjust the spring tension to account for the heavier body. Once you move to the final head and add electronics, the body will likely get even heavier, which will make the problem worse. Once you are further along and have a better estimate for total weight, you should be able to order new springs that are more suited to the weight of the car.

I had a thought about the mouth animation, btw. I think you showed a video where someone had a rotating cylinder with the wavy pattern printed on it, but I didn't like that the "teeth" moved. Instead, you can use a thin clear acrylic with the vertical teeth pattern printed, painted, stuck, or drawn on and the rotating inner cylinder with the horizontal wavy pattern.

The rounded wheels also look much more "realistic". Edit: What about making Benders Head turn between looking left and right? I do not know if you planned it anyway or if that remote system has channels left to make that remote controllable. Otherwise just some E-motor driven mechanic that makes it alter between e.g. 45° left and 45′ right. or a mechanic that is coupled to the steering and lets him look always in the direction he is driving.
