Surface modeling in Fusion is really tricky, I'm glad you talked about the difficulty learning it and having to restart multiple times. In the end it looks great and look forward to seeing it painted.

If you were going to cut the car in half to fit the scale wouldn't it be easier to go with 1/10 scale and widen the car instead of getting right width and shortening the length ? Great project, very excited to see how it will turn out :D
@Alabastor_TwobАй бұрын
15:50 It looks like the alignment holes might have covered over with the brim that you added (and maybe filled in with support material too?) If it's a bother it might be worth checking in the slicer if there's a setting for that - I know in Cura at least there's a checkbox called "Brim Only on Outside"

Hey Bill, good to see you again, it's been a while. Maybe one Idea concerning the reinforcement of the seams of the 3D-printed parts on the body: what about glassing over from the inside, just a small strip of about an inch or 1.5 wide? We did this very sucessfully on the prototype shop at BMW on some 3DP-Parts we had to produce in sections and bond together. BR, Sven.
@punishedpropsАй бұрын
I was considering that. I’m not sure it’s necessary, but I can do that at any time after it’s constructed.
@cowboy124aa3Ай бұрын
Hey Bill great work! Also just curious what 3d scanner did you use to get your model?
@punishedpropsАй бұрын
Thanks! I used PolyCam.
@RobertWardJonesАй бұрын
Great Idea. However instead of cutting the car in half and rejoining the halves why not just trace the profile of the back, trim off the back, then machine the new back end to what you had cut off? Would have saved you a bit of time and you could have use the back end you had cut off as the templet.
@punishedpropsАй бұрын
That would have worked well too. Didn’t think of it at the time.

Why was a larger car bought and cut down to size instead of making the smaller one larger?
@cycoholicАй бұрын
You will want to change the motor, as that one will be to fast for inside use. I suggest you get one for an RC crawler, and maybe change the gearing.
@punishedpropsАй бұрын
Ooh, great idea.
@cycoholicАй бұрын
@@punishedprops It will help slow the car down, even to walking speed. RC crawlers are a segment of the market where they go for things like accurate scale and going rock crawling.

@Dashierez25 күн бұрын
$300 for that cheap looking RC truck? wth...never in a million years would I ever pay that for that, let alone if I'm ripping it apart. Easier and cheaper to just make a bigger frame for the smaller one to get it to the size you needed - especially since you don't need to care what the inside looks like. You could get a helluva RC f'ing plane or drone for that amount of cash.
@catbob1966Ай бұрын

It was important to me to share some of the struggle, because a lot of people are trying to learn how to 3D model and it can be frustrating.
