My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa. Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. can relate turned 70 in august - up until six months prior never had an ache, pain took not one single pill. had a few ridiculous issues this year dealing with typical aches and stuff. learning to just roll with it, but for me a a fitness instructor i took pride in arriving to 70 with nothing wrong, well almost.

Just returned from Paris. Used PIMP and couldn’t find some of the spots (particularly the reasonably priced dumpling pace from the Yam t’cha people). Did end up having lunch there…was an amazing tasting menu with 9 courses and paired with teas. Was surprised at the $480 bill, but renamed it “an experience “ and was glad we did it.

oh wow! Bummer to hear the boutique no longer serves dumplings. I don't recommend the Michelin in my guide becuase, well, the bill. But I bet it was amazing, and hopefully a once in a lifetime experience for you!

Aw Jay, I feel ya on the ‘I have perfect 20/20 vision’ pride, right up until my early 30s … then all of a sudden I needed glasses! I still have very good vision, in fact I rarely actually put on my glasses, but it’s no longer perfect. Just part of life that if I want to do something like read the print on the back of a medicine package or the ingredient list on a box, I have to pull out the ol’ glasses. They do look good on you!

The U.S. Ambassador's residence in Paris is absolutely stunning. My friends and I were invited to celebrate July 4th many years ago when I was lived there. I'll never forget that day.

Nice glasses. I had been the same my whole life untill about 37 when I started needing regular reading glasses and then 40 it just went REALLY fast. The one thing though was despite having had 'perfect' sight my whole life prior I discovered when getting my eyes checked for glasses that I have a completely different prescription in my left vs. right eye WHICH kind of makes a hell of a lot of sense of the fact that I NEVER could figure out where a ball was in space and have HATED all ball related sports my entire life. Anyhow, fun to see some vloggy content over here again.

I had glasses since age 8, then contacts since high school. So at age 50 I needed cataract surgery because I grew up in SoCal and Hawaii and didn’t use enough sun protection. Used the opportunity correct my astigmatism with iLasik. Best thing in the world as it gave me crystal clear vision for the first time in my life. No more contacts and only a pair of work glasses for computer use. Best. Thing. EVAR.

So wear your glasses every time you want to look smart. lol I have been wearing my glasses for over 50 years and yes I've had people ask me a lot of questions that I knew I didn't have the answer too but its funny. I like seeing your entire face. I feel as if men sometimes hide behind their facial hair. It will be nice to have you back on a more regular basis as you were always designated stop any time I went to KZbin. Also I envy you the early autumn. In Northern CA we are still coping with temperatures just below 100 & I am thankful that we seem to have dropped out of the triple digits. It has been an extremely hot summer here. I'm sure Cooper prefers moderate weather as very hot weather is hard on Boston Terriers as they are brachycephalic. My little fur baby (a Miniature Schnauzer) has spent most of her time indoors this summer because of the extreme heat.
