Alex, you have to watch over your fathers safety, four bricks under the scaffolding legs for balance seems to me a bit dangerous. Be kind for him 👊and keep yourself safety as well 😎

impressive ! 👌 No bricky questions : 34:54 When filling in the gap above the lintel, is there a reason why you are using those tiles instead slate ? , and for the dry-packing are you using special mix mortar or just using same that the rest of the brickwork ? thanks in advance 👍

The way that you have got your scaffolding set up with some bricks on the bottom is not very good. You could do with something better underneath them scaffolding that I have got I have got adjustable legs so you can set it up on angles or when there is steps, et cetera involved.

I've got a challenge for you! I employed a company to take a supporting wall down and naturally put in an RSJ...the result is awful as they put (Guardian Structural) put an RSJ in that was totally inadequate. Their solution was to weld another support onto the main RSJ. Worst of all a company they (Guardian Structural) called in for building regs passed the inadequate support. I am suing them both but in the meantime I need to correct the mess before the upstairs cracks get worse. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.😊

Got to agree with using bricks alone under the trestle. On edge isn't very stable and bricks are brittle and could split. You need a aquare of scaffold board under the frame. Personally il ise timber all the way but half a block for height would be OK.

I'm old enough to say that in the 1960's while studying woodwork at school for GCE the Teacher told the class that conventional Houses had airbricks around the base of the foundations above the damp course and the idea was for the air to run up through the inside void of bricks to ventilate the main roof beams to stop Efflorescence and condensation yet we insulate this gap, I have noticed especially in the winter the tarp cover and main oak beams are totally saturated and we had that shredded paper crap blown into the cavities a few years ago, so my question Steve and Alex is should I be worried?

I can’t comment on a job without seeing unfortunately. You need to get someone to check it for you . Good luck 🤞🏼 🧱👍🏽

My understanding of attic condensation is that the moisture that condenses in the attic supposedly comes from the interior of the house, through a non-air tight ceiling. Think any holes/gaps you might have in your ceiling, like leaky attic door, holes for light fixtures, anything really. How air tight do you think your upstairs ceiling is?
