Well done Blake, nice. Enjoy your seeing your use of Barbs. I find keeping them in a large well planted tank that keeping groups of 3-4 varieties of groups of 15-20 is ideal as they get along fine. Top effort mate.

Always interesting to see what you are keeping in the fish room! For video ideas, this is maybe a bit left field, but indigenous aquatic and marginal plants. I grow them outside in wine barrel ponds and various bog gardens and pots, but some of the Melbourne ones might do quite well in an open topped cold water aquarium too. We’re actually losing especially our marginal plants from Melbourne bushland: the Goodenias, some of the Lobelias and Isotoma which used to be in my area of Melbourne can’t be found any more. It’s a real shame, especially since most of them are pretty hardy and low maintenance if you stick them in a bog garden/pot. The volunteer Indigenous Plant Nursery that I work at is apparently unusual for having a good turnover of the wetland species we grow. But we also have a pond outside and wine barrel pond inside to show them off. But for an inside cold water aquarium we’ve got native milfoils eg Myriophyllum crispatum , Ranunculus inundata which makes pretty snowflake shapes on the surface of the water, Crassula helmsii with an interesting cross pattern, Marsilea drummondii - Common Nardoo, Gratiola peruviana - Austral Brookline, and if the tank was large enough Alisima plantago-aquatica has an interesting and handsome growth habit. Isotoma fluviatilis will grow on the surface of the water as will Seleria radicans. There are more from outside my area, and native nurseries like Kurunga can have an interesting range. It would be really great to see a little more love for our local wetland plants, and Indigenous Nurseries generally have low prices which can make experimenting with them budget friendly. For tropical aquariums there’s probably indigenous plants from Northern Australia that would suit too.
