Hello, I also have two questions for you, namely: what is your opinion about round or cylindrical bowl aquariums for fish? I like them very much and I have a bowl in which I keep a Betta fish and 3 very beautiful albino corydoras. And the the second question is: do the fish necessarily need a filter and an oxygen pump, even if they are not very crowded in their aquarium? I ask you because all these things did not really exist in the 70s-80s, even the 90s. Do you know that each person has his own preferences convictions and experiences in this very controversial field, so to speak. In conclusion, I wish you only the best and success in your activities. All the best and have a nice day.

Just a point on tetra eggs and light sensitivity. I breed tetras on a regular basis and also cover the tanks once eggs have been laid. However, I cover the tanks to reduce bacterial ’growth’ - there was a study in the 1970s detailed in the TFH magazine with neon tetra eggs that showed that if their eggs were subjected to bright light that they actually hatched in a shorter period of time than if kept in the dark. I also keep newley free swimming fry in shaded tanks as it makes them less nervous. I feed only infusoria to the fry as a first food as I’ve found the fry survival and growth rates are much better than using any other first foods.

Going from experience but no expert. Replicating the wet dry season is a method that works Sometimes. Going from what I know of the fish I have kept. A Barometric pressure drop before a Thunder storm,was a trigger that worked with a few wild catfish species and others.!!

This was my plan...my DREAM... but havent acheived it yet. Love the hobby so much, I got a shed built specifically for it but summer in south-east Qld is absolutely insufferable thanks to the humidity...which is awful outside and even worse inside the shed, lol. I made sure the shed was insulated (hoping it would help), ceiling fans installed and windows but it didnt help much....spend 45 mins in that shed in summer and I'd come out looking like I'd been standing under a spinkler :( ....shed was a waste of space & money...

why do ppl treat fish so expendable, this woman obviously been keeping fish for more then three years but most the fish she has she been keeping for less then 3 years, not all fish die in that 3-5 year mark and she talked about being bored with a fish and selling it and this isnt the first time we hear ppl say that, think she would do that with the dog under her arm, any animal that comes into my house, dog cat rodent reptile or fish, is there for life the animal is my responsibility until it dies, its not fair the the animal to rip it out of its home put it thru all this stress of moving and put into a home you dont know the care they will be getting because your bored its still a living animal even if it is a 2 inch fish
@Bock756 күн бұрын
You cannot compare a dog to a fish
@lruddy88204 күн бұрын
@@Bock75 i hear a lot of people say that but they never say why you cant and while yes i agree they are not comparable it doesnt explain why people treat fish as expendable or objects that can be passed on when your "interest" runs out fish are still animals that deserve to be taken care of properly and passing them on putting them thru unneeded stress isnt proper care , for any animal if your not prepared to care for it for its life time dont get that animal its not a guitar or a playstation its a living thing and a lot of people get fish with no intention of keeping them long term they just want to get their jollys from the fish and then move on and thats not fair to any animal so why do people have this attitude for fish but not cats dogs rodents and to a lesser extent birds
