So Minnesota: State welcome signs

I love to road trip, by motorcycle or car, and was once a truck driver. Always enjoyed welcome signs when crossing borders. There are some nice ones out there, but i think both Wisconsin and Minnesota have 2 of the best. Always made me proud and happy to have made it back home.

One thing I never realized until I moved away from MN/WI is that most states do not put nearly as much effort into their welcome signs. MN and WI really put a lot of effort into them and basically make them a monument. When I first moved out west to Oregon, I thought I'd see a lot of cool welcome signs. Nope. Every state basically just had a standard metal sign. It was actually kind of a culture shock and it really made me start to open my eyes on how unique the area of MN and WI really is.

Not all signs are on interstate highways so you should be more clear that it’s not illegal to take a picture in front of them only to park on certain roads…. Several actually have parking lots or side roads right next to them..

Signs are awesome. But the color scheme blends into the background and sometimes you don’t see them. Maybe pretty blues next time

I own a previous-design flag that once flew atop the Capitol. Very proud to have it. I flew it on the front of my house once. It's so boring and not unique to so many other state flags with the same blue background and a blob of too much detail that you can't really make out unless it stops moving and you're right next to it. I have the new flag out there right now. I love it. No other flag just like it, and as time goes on and people throughout the world see it... The new one will be far more recognizable than the old one.

When you cross into Iowa on I-35 there is a basic eye-catching billboard-style “welcome to Iowa” sign with a slogan on it. Probably cost a tenth of what the Minnesota behemoths cost, if that. I always thought Iowa should have their sign say “Welcome to Iowa. Our signs aren’t as nice but our taxes are lower!”

Pick locations throughout the state and if a land and not a river boarder exist agree to make a welcome sign exit for the neighboring state if there's room. each state has a tap to pay and chip card reader to walk to the perfect vantage point for a photo in front of each states welcome sign and have each states voters decide where the money has to go.
