The sorrow is intense. It's her losing her life (while singing, knowing she'll die of cancer) and her huspand, the guitarist of this band, Juha Raivio. And he losing her. They losing their love to death. She died before the album was released. Her voice will haunt us, in the most beatiful way imaginable and the love for her will carry on - untill eternity ❤

If you recall your mixed review to "Cathedral Walls"by Swallow The Sun ? Aleah Starbridge was the woman in the video. Aleah provided backing and guest vocals on numerous older STS albums. The actual Trees of Eternity LP Hour of the Nigthingale" is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and saddest doom albums ever created! Ever! Be at peace 🕊Aleah... we will carry your song🎼

@@TheWolffAndTheMelody I have to disagree: it's not "super cool" - it's immensly sad. I think you could also like Hallatar , e.g. My Mistake kzbin.info/www/bejne/ml6ZZ2R_jNdoh7Msi=VbY7nwjFIkgX66ef It's the work of grief (mourning doesn't include the right tone, i think - a hard work to survive and get somewhat over) of Juha Raivio. After her death, and just crying in bed for some weeks, he realized he has to start creating music, or he'll never get up again but will drown in that sorrow The lyrics are hers, and singer is Tomi Joutsen from Amorphis, and drummer (cannot remember the name - Giz smtg?) was from HIM. Tomi said it was really hard, also physically, singin until blood came from the throat.. i'll search it, posted it somewhere. But do respect. She was their friend, too, besides a wife of a friend also playing with them

@@TheWolffAndTheMelodyI also suggest you to listen to Hallatar band, which was created by Juha Raivio after Aleah death. It's much darker and gloomy than his other projects (Swallow the Sun and Trees of Eternity)

I didnt realize that "When Shadow is Forced Into The Light" is from this song. Makes a lot of sense. Swallow The Sun has an album named like that and it deals with her death. Its probably my all time favorite album.

I've come across Aleah and Trees of Eternity already a couple of years ago. I love her voice, her lyrics. The sheer fact that she might have been aware of her imminent death when writing this is heart-wrenching to me. I don't know why I am always so attracted to sad stuff. It's within me since I was a kid. I remember listening to some very dark, gothic style music when I was 8 years old, lol. So this speaks to me. Rest in peace Aleah.

RIP Aleah. After having heard Swallow the Sun and Trees of Eternity, I'd recommend Hallatar - My Mistake (kzbin.info/www/bejne/ml6ZZ2R_jNdoh7M). I think Juha said in interviews that he wrote the music for the album No Stars upon the Bridge after Aleah died in just one week and the lyrics are some of her poems or at least based on them. It features the singers from Amorphis and (ex-)Draconian, ex-drummer of HIM and Juha himself.

"Hour of the nightingale" is one of my all time favourite albums ever alongside all Led Zeppelin albums. All songs on this fantastic album are unique, out of this world, extremely beautiful, haunting. Aleah, I thank you for your gorgeous voice and incredible talent of writing lyrics and songs. Beautiful Aleah, R.I.P. for eternity!

There are some singers with good voices, but Aleah's singing voice had something uniquely warm and familiar, like a soft blanket that enveloped you. Yes, I know that sounds strange. For me, Brooken Mirrors is a total work of art, lyrics, singing, melody and of course the masterfully filmed music video. Aleah was also a remarkably beautiful woman.

Aleah captivated me from the first time I heard her over a decade ago. It is her magic that shines in this dark mystical music, but when digging deeper into the band you will find Kai Hahto of Nightwish on the drums. So many times when discovering a new favorite band I find Kai behind the drum kit. Not only a great drummer but a man with great taste in music.

I agree on that point : amazing voice and range can be impressive, but are not a necessity to make a touching or moving song. Above all, voices that touch someone are something very personal. Her voice is so enjoyable and vibrant, and fits very well with the music ! This one is very deep, by all its musical construction.

In my opinion this is the only "perfect" album ever made. The pain, loss, hoplessness and anger is in every song. She literally opened up all of her feelings to us as she was dealing with her impending death. You should sit in a room and listen to the whole thing. Since I can see in the comments you now know she has passed. You will be able to digest the album knowing her mindset and it will be so powerful.

Sirenia - “At sixes and sevens”, the whole album from start to finish. This is my recommendation for those who like gothic metal with female and male vocals. No one has yet made a better album than this one. No whining. Beautiful, atmospheric and heavy.
