I got back Saturday from Oktoberfest and had a blast. Everything is expensive but it's a once in a lifetime experience. 🍻

Just to make it clear - the Olympia looping is Doing like 3 places each year - the Transport about 1000 Tons of Steel to munich, Vienna and London and its by far the Most expensive Ride - other rides at the Oktoberfest are around 5-8 Euros

gotta say, watching the spinning pile of people makes me certain that challenge isn't one for me, but Octoberfest does look like an amazing celebration!

As a child, I went to the amusement park on the boardwalk in Santa Cruise, California that had one of those discs that spun. Only kids participated and since I was a kid. . . Thanks for bringing up a decades old memory. I think I will sleep well tonight remembering that day.

I had no idea Germans could be fun. I'm a descendent of full German pioneers. From their letters you can tell they were both stern and frugal, guess you had to be to survive. Marcus looks at you so lovingly and adoringly - did you catch that? Thanks for sharing this, love it.
@arnodobler10962 ай бұрын
yeah that´s a stereotype
@InvisibleVisible7932 ай бұрын
@@arnodobler1096 I only formed my opinions from their letters from cousins, uncle, brothers, etc. For example, My Great grandmother wrote to her son at Christmas, "Please tell how it is you spent 10 cents on a haircut." (my grandfather was away at college). Most all letters from all family members were pretty darn serious and stern.

Is Schnapps a thing in Germany? Here, we put Root beer Schnapps in a shot glass with a small layer of heavy cream, the whole bar gets a round and at the same time everyone puts their palm over the shot glass, picks it up and smacks it on the bar and then drinks. The sound is very celebratory and the TASTE - root beer float. The sound reminds me of the wooden shoes worn by performers in the street parade for The Tulip Festival in Orange City, Iowa. Would love to see you bring Marcus to some quirky U.S. sights and "sounds." What would a German think of the Winchester House? Or the food at Bavarian World in Reno, NV? The oldest saloon in NV, Genoa Bar? The only bar that's a registered museum, Saloon No. 10 in Deadwood, SD?

Yes, I had some pear schnapps in this video, too!
@renewinqleur2 ай бұрын
Schnaps is quite literally a german word, it comes from "schnappen" which means "to snap", basically the drink is so short, you can just snap it so yes, Schnaps is definitely a thing in Germany, the local varieties are immense
@arnodobler10962 ай бұрын
It´s a German word, so?
@InvisibleVisible7932 ай бұрын
@@renewinqleur Thank you for the information. So many things are Americanized it's hard to know. We call the root beer drink a popper, interesting the meaning you gave (snap). I met a German ONE time, he asked my last name - turns out I don't even pronounce my own last name correctly - I don't think I could even if I wanted to, pronounce it the way he did. Cheers to the fun Germans.
@renewinqleur2 ай бұрын
@@InvisibleVisible793 You're more than welcome, I didn't want to get over as snappy :p At Wiesn or other festivities around Germany, which happen pretty much all year round people drink Schnaps, there are also regional varieties/mix drinks like a "Bumbermaß" for example - one liter of Beer in a Maß and then you add 2 shots of cherry schnaps on top Most people stay away from schnaps on the tents though because you generally stay there for a while and the amount of water you drink is minimal, as not to risk passing out or getting too drunk and lastly: Frankonia has the best beer cheers mate :)

After enjoying this video I did nip over to see your previous one for comparison and felt I should return here to put in my 2 cents. Despite the exorbitant price of bottled water there indeed seems to be quite a difference in food prices in a mere 6 years. Furthermore, I suppose it is always more difficult to notice change when you see someone fairly regularly, but I must admit I was surprised by the difference your hair transplant actually made. Although you always look young and photogenic, the procedure did make a much more dramatic difference than I had remembered and I can see why you were so pleased with the results. Oh oh, that looks kinda insulting written down...hope you don't take offence. It was delightful to see Markus appearing slightly less restrained than usual, and it looks like you guys had a fantastic time. Probably not the perfect destination for me personally, but definitely iconic... and your video certainly helps show why. You deserve some gratuity from the Tourist Board.
