Chris Stapleton is a real gem. Such a fantastic voice and a pretty decent guitar player... he plays all the lead guitar parts in this.

I've listened to many, many reactions of this song; I think you may be the only one who commented not just on the the soulful sound, but on the tragedy of the people he's singing about. I salute you for that.

This is the best reaction to this song. This young man actually listened to the lyrics.

I love it at the end of the song... it sounds like it's ending several times, then continues. Keeps you guessing, just like the inmate.

The man can paint a picture with his music man. This song is fire! All his stuff is, you gotta start checking out his stuff live. It's better, I suggest "Sometimes I Cry" live Bing Lounge. Good Reaction!

I love how in The instrumentals you can hear the creaking of the gate opening and the dragging at the chains on the way to death row

Great reaction! Chris Stapleton is unique. I think he is his own genre. His live performances are just as great as studio audio. Check out I was wrong Ausin city limits performance. Amazing guitar solo in that one. Keep up the fantastic reactions!

Carla Delk I believe some musicians cross genres. Willie was one. Ray Charles was another. There are others, and I believe Chris Stapleton is one of them.

The dark atmosphere he sets at the beginning with the bass and grinding steel is a perfect precursor to how gritty the lyrics are about to be.

You need to do Lightning by Eric Church! It’s very similar to this song, and his voice is amazing.
