Re: fabric for weed wiper. On the commercial machines, that fabric must be replaceable. I'd check their websites for new equipment, they may tell what that fabric is made. I'd also check their replacement parts page... It may tell there what the fiber content. Another way to find out is to ask for a tour of their facility (there maybe a tour already on KZbin). 💖🌞🌵😷

Marine carpet is hard wearing , absorbent, and can be washed clean of herbicide easily. . Mine has 18inch wicks mounted at 45 degrees horizontally and overlapping by 2 inchs . It has a 50 litre (12usg) tank , with 6 litre per minute pump . And an adjustable controler . Herbicide is delivered through 16mm (5/8) low density poly , there are branch pipes running through the centre of each carpet sleeve with fine holes . The controller starts the pump for a few seconds . it can be controlled from 1 seconds on , 30 off to running none stop . . Steel frame on 8inch wheels.

Tyler, you can add remote hydraulics to your tractor via an aftermarket item called Power Beyond block. I have a Ford 4110 and I went to a New Holland dealer who ordered this for me. Installation on my tractor is fairly easy; it just bolts on. You ought to check it out. Probably have more uses other than running the hydraulic motor.

If you make the weed wiper PTO drive then throttling down will also slow the rotating drum. Look into how the air blowers work on White corn planters. They have a PTO hydraulic pump, a needle valve to control flow (and bypass the excess) and a hydraulic motor on the blower. A similar arrangement with the needle valve near the operator will make the drum speed adjustable despite tractor speed.

Hey Tyler. Your diy herbicide dispenser is a Winner. As for figuring out what material to use. Well research the material used by wick wipe makers of the type that you plan to fabricate. Once you've done that reach out to all the companies that make and sell it to iron out who'll offer lowest price on small batch sized quantity. They'll sell it to you, you've just got to figure who'll sell it to you cheapest. Good Luck on that

For your weed wiper, maybe consider using an electric gear motor to drive the wiper drum instead of the PTO. I think it would be simpler, and a lot lighter, and drum RPM would be independent of the engine RPM. Food for thought....

Not having read the other comments on your weed wiper design, I'm asking: 1. Will your design be in folding sections to travel on roads and through gates? 2. If so the drum wipe sections could be electric driven then use PTO for hydraulic folding of side sections. 3. Perhaps there might be a used disc/rake rolling chassis that could be the donor platform. 4. Sounds like another business opportunity! Or just sell the design. And then there's the likely possibility that I don't know what I'm talking about!!

I have had good success on my cattle oiler using a soft furniture moving blanket then wrapped it in canvas. Absorbent and protected. Might be a good option for your weed wiper idea. You may also want to look at using a barrel instead of a pipe. Couple advantages could be 1 weight, 2 will hold your chemical. Simple wick to feed your wrap.

Looking forward to watching you create a new herbicide delivery system. Not sure what to call it. It’s too bad that company didn’t contact you. It’s their loss. They don’t know you and that is the problem, because if they did they would of known they could benefit. It’s a smart company who’s always looking out for new ideas. Especially, someone who can build, test out, and improve new idea, or improve an existing product. It’s too bad they could have really benefited from what you’ll create.

I wouldn’t use the pto for the weed wiper, Id use what Gandy used to use on their insecticide boxes, a 12 volt electric motor. They had a basic worm drive windshield wiper motor that ran a bicycle chain to the applicator that gave it a further reduction. At one point we used a PWM speed controller that was not very expensive to slow it down even further to apply something on our stanhay planter.

I was thinking about your weed wiper question and I'm wondering if burlap might work. It's fairly absorbent you, but rugged enough so you could hose it down afterwards, and it would be fairly easy to replace as it wears out. I definitely agree with what a couple of others have said. Do not share your complete plans! Patent it and sell it to somebody! Don't let somebody else go steal your improved ideas and make a whole bunch of money off of something you invent!
