I’m an emotional guy, and I’ve cried during a ton of films. Even Aliens, despite the fact that I’ve seen it hundreds of times. . Saw this as a kid, along with the Thing and other 80s classics and I love seeing these generations seeing and appreciating classic cinema. . This movie is definitely in my top 10 all time. . Aliens . Absolutely agree! Burke is one of my fav villains. And the best & unique part of that is that he is a normal guy in a suit! No super power. Doesn't even pick up a gun. And yet he shows such evil & causes so much trouble & mayhem. THAT is the pure purpose of any story's villain. Oh, also; he even looks like a sweet little boy from next door. But indeed don't ever let that fool you. He's the Devil & rotten to the core!

Seven years after Alien came out, my ex and I, both big Alien fans, were sitting in a theater watching trailers before a movie. Then this trailer came on that had the entire audience murmuring, “Wait…what the…is that Ripley?” Then it showed Hicks panning his flashlight, then for a split second, multiple Aliens jumping all over the screen. The theater erupted. Everybody was screaming, including us. No one had a clue that a sequel to Alien was even being made. I don’t even remember what movie we were in the theater to see. All I remember is that incredible trailer.

"Get away from her, you bitch!" One of the best sci-fi duopolies ever made. The other being the two movie Terminator franchise. I'm so glad that Hollywood exercised a measure of control and never made any more sequels. Yep, no more Alien movies whatsoever. 👍 😎 Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Jenette Goldstein. Historical Fact: Al Matthews, who plays a Marine sergeant in this film, was in real life the first black Marine to be promoted to the rank of sergeant in the field during service in Vietnam. Gun Enthusiast Fact: James Cameron personally designed the M-41A pulse rifle. He based it on the WW2 Thompson sub-machine gun. The pistol used by Colonial Marines is a Heckler and Koch VP70. Movie Magic Fact: The full-size queen puppet was actually too big to fit into the elevator. For the shot where she is seen there, her tail was removed, and yet the back of the elevator still had to be opened to accommodate the prop; smoke effects, dark lighting, and a black curtain at the back obscure this. Cute Kid Fact: When filming the scene with Newt in the duct, Carrie Henn kept deliberately blowing her scene so she could slide down the vent, which she later called a slide three stories tall. James Cameron finally dissuaded her by saying that if she completed the shot, she could play on it as much as she wanted. She did and he kept his promise.

14:24 "Do they know about the Xenomorphs?" Today, it's commonly known that Xenomorphs means "the aliens from the Alien movies". But when Cameron wrote this, he simply used it as the futuristic military's generic term for "unknown organism". It's Latin -- "xeno" meaning strange or unknown, and "morph" meaning shape or form. That's why, when Gorman is giving this speech to the Marines and he says "we think a xenomorph may be involved", you can hear Frost say "excuse me Sir... A what??". It's the brass's jargon-y admission that Ripley's "impossible monster" might really exist and be part of why the colony on LV426 went dark. It was only in the wake of this movie that the term was widely applied as the name of these specific creatures. Fantastic reaction as always man, I knew you'd love this one. Being driven to tears by the sheer awesomeness of a movie is an incredible thing, and no movie deserves it more than this one.

July 14, 1986, was one of the best days of my adolescence. This film was the best thing that I had ever seen in my life. I too cried at the end out of happiness. Then I called my Nana and told her I wanted to watch it again and then again and then again. I watched Aliens for a week straight, 28 times. Thank you so much for your great reaction. I love seeing other people fall in love with this film. As for the rest of the movies....well....there's a lot of back and forth on the quality. So here's my tale. I walked into the 3rd movie with so much anticipation. I won't spoil but after Ripley wakes up, well I walked out and asked for a refund. I had never done that before and I have never done that since and I sat through the Human Centipede. I have never been more disappointed in a film. I read the alternative script by William Gibson (the great sci-fi author) and LOVED it. So in my mind, that's the REAL Alien3. That's what really happened to Newt, Hicks, Bishop and Ripley. Period. As for the rest, I picked it up again with the prequels and didn't hate them like many die-hard fans did. So all that being said, make your own call. But I will totally understand if you stop the reaction or hate Alien3 or hey, some people like it ok...but I've yet to hear anyone say they love it. But yes, Aliens is one of the best movies ever made, and you can't possibly top that in a sequel that was not directed by James Cameron.

The power-loader ending is so good because the way James Cameron set it up was masterful. As moviegoers, we've all been trained to subconsciously expect certain things. Namely the whole "Chekov's Gun" principle, in that if something is setup earlier in the movie, we subconsciously expect a payoff for that setup later in the movie. However Cameron tricks us into forgetting about the power-loader setup scene, by using that same scene as a payoff for an even earlier setup (Ripley talking with Burke, back in her quarters on the station, about how she's been running loaders down at the docks.) Thus the first appearance of the power-loader doesn't stick in our brains the way a normal setup scene would; we don't subconsciously view it as a dangling-thread. And then when the power-loader does show up again at the end of the movie, we're completely surprised, but with no sense of immersion breaking that would come if it was a solution that never had a setup. Instead our brains instantly recontextualize the first power-loader scene as a setup, and not just a payoff, and then it's all, "Holy shit. That's the perfect solution, and it was sitting in front of us the whole time, and we just forget about it."

@cmorrow74Ай бұрын
The real hero of this movie is James Cameron, whose ability to do so much with so little has been kind of forgotten since he was given the golden key to massive movie budgets. Aliens was filmed on a budget of around $18M, which was a modest budget even in 1986. He had no more than six xenomorph costumes to work with, and yet, through camera angles and creative editing managed to make it seem like there were hordes of the creatures at every turn. Cameron also designed the Queen, channeling his inner H.R. Giger (who was tied up in production on Poltergeist at the time of filming). Giger was duly impressed with cameron’s design.

Now you have seen Alien & Aliens, two historical milestones in cinema- & cult history! The fan base have always been divided depending if you favor the horror or the entertaining action, but Aliens is among the very few sequels in movie history that is even better than it's original film! A very exclusive club. Personally, Aliens is one of the best films ever made. Other reactors have even said that Aliens puts modern film to absolute shame, which is SO true! Nothing today even gets close to this craftsmanship, story telling, character focus & just pure entertainment fitting for anyone willing to get involved. Sigourney Weaver was in fact Oscar nominated as Best Actress for this film, & at a time when sequels were considered second-rate cinema. And this is a sci-fi, horror sequel. Welcome to the Alien fandom, my guy! Anyone crying happy tears when the best female character ever created for cinema says one of the most legendary lines ever written is most welcome on our bug hunt! The only sad part with finishing Aliens is that, no matter where in the Alien franchise you decide to go next, it will never get as good as this again. Not even close. Still all worthy to check out. But this was the top of the highest mountain, trust me.

Everybody gives Hudson shit because he's high-strung and weeks from getting out. BUT...who was the technical expert? Who found the colonists? He just needed guidance, and pointed in the right direction. He was an experienced Marine, who was good at his job. And who stepped in front of the kid in Medical? Who took on dozens of aliens by himself, knowing he was about to die, and took down an assload of them so that the rest could get away? Put a little respect on hus name. As far as Lt. Gorman is concerned: He was no coward. He was green, and was in fact an asshole, but he was no coward. He had no business leading a combat op without more training, but he was also set up to fail.
