What is with movie makers overcorrecting and overreacting? Princess and the Frog isn't as profitable as they wanted? Bye bye 2-D animated movies. Cinderella (2015) live-action remake is successful? There's so many ways this can go wrong The stories could no longer feel personalized or connecting, but in a way it can also broaden the overall story so that everyone can enjoy it, but how broad can you make a movie before it becomes a big plot hole of inconsistency, Inside Out 2 was a great movie I'm sure (I didn't go see it) but I also don't think I've actually been inclined to go see a Disney movie in over 5 years just cause I know what I expect, so to know they'll just make it as basic as possible is kind of concerning I still hope we get the ambition projects like Luca and turning Red, cause those were so beautifully made and simplistic, how did Luca NOT become a show? It had a great premise!

I think if they did attempt a Ratatouille sequel, it would have to be a whole new main character. Remy could be the famous figure in the news to inspire them. They hear about how a rat started a 5-star restaurant and go on a journey to get to Remy's restaurant. The story arc could be that they think getting there and getting a chance to cook with Remy will be their success, but the twist is they're not that great a chef, but they have some other skill and passion that was their real motivation. Technically Remy would be in the movie so it's technically a sequel, but it would be more like he's a cameo in someone else's story. Remy would be the Gusteau to them rather than the main focus.

Pixar needs a brand new concept before anything else right now, it doesn't matter how good Inside Out 2 was. Seeing a number after a movie title isn't exciting or innovative, and that's what Pixar has to go back to. And unfortunately, I don't think Elio is going to be it. The teasers we've seen so far make me think the story is going to be an inverse of Lilo and Stitch, and the name doesn't help. These bulgy human character designs are ugly too, they all look like they have thyroid problems. I'm not going to be surprised if the main Pixar studio gets shuttered and everything is done under Disney Animation in the future.

i mean arguably the monsters dont need anybody to believe theyre "real", the world functions just fine outside of the human world. they only need screams/laughter as an energy source, as they seem to lack any resources to power their world on their own. believing/remembering is more of coco's problem, monster's inc is almost more environmental.

I could see it being older Boo not believing in monsters anymore, but rather then them disappearing she accidentally falls through a door and freaks out having forgotten about Sulley. And have something happen where they can't simply send her back cause her door breaks or she gets lost in the monster world and they have to find her.

If I were to choose, I think Incredibles three would be a good idea. Here’s what I would do. Like you said before, there’s a time jump, and the kids are older. Violet’s in college and Dash’s in high school, Mr. incredible, elastic-girl, and Frozone, being supers again and making a good living, and Jack-Jack and Edna doing their thing (lol). Premise, it’s almost the end of summer vacation. Violet and Dash are both leaving home (violet may have a career opportunity and Dash would be off to college far or something away), Frozone is retiring for real and Jack Jack is still trying to learn about his powers and that’s why he’s usually with Edna. Leaving most of the super work to Mr. incredible and elastic girl. The theme would be about love and family. Mr. incredible and elastic girl they’re both glad to be supers again. But they’ve gotten so used to fighting crime with Frozone and their children. Both in their individual ways, they would be insecure. As they aren’t fighting crime all together as much, it would reflect how they’re all going their separate ways. Mr. incredible will feel as his family was his “greatest adventure”, he would be scared of losing that and elastic girl, she feels that she is found balance in her life but right after she’s found it, it’s changing again (I know, I need to workshop that one). Anyway, the main antagonist, I’m not sure who it would be, but I think this character should assemble a team of villains creating, the unforgiving (a group in the Incredibles comics), consisting of the underminer, Evelyn Deavor, a rebuild omdroid, and Bomb voyage at least (the main villain could be the underminer or bomb voyage or someone totally new). Whoever the villain is, part of the story should be that they lost who they love, they went there separate ways, but it was on a more negative note and no one was forgiven. Making whoever it is a negative reflection and potentially what Mr. incredible or elastic girl could become. They would fight the unforgiving on their own, but then later, everyone came together to take down all the villains. The lesson being, if you love someone, let them go, but at the same time, family is forever, stronger together, and no matter how far away, they’ll always be there for each other. It still needs to be fleshed out more, but I think that would be a great way to bring the series full circle and wrap it up with a bang. What do you guys think?

I kinda wish Disney would finally realize that they could’ve made more money off of their more recent Pixar movies like “Soul”, “Luca” and “Turning Red” if they’d just had them all in theaters like actual regular movies instead of setting them all up to fail by putting all three of them on Disney+ first and rereleasing all of them in theaters a whole year later after all the hype of those three particular movies pretty much died down.🙄

@@andrepartridge1179 I think that's of a little off-perception and recency bias. Pixar's next 2 movies are original movies. Technically Pixar's next 3 projects, if you count their first long-form TV series, "Win or Lose." And they are just coming off pretty much only originals for the last 4 years. It's kind of natrual for any studio do come back to making some sequels after having a period of making a bunch of original movies. They will strike a good balance going forward. The only sequel Pixar currently has in development is Toy Story 5. That's a 2:1 original to sequels ratio in the near future, that's totally fine.

if I wanted to do something for ratatouille, I don’t think we need a sequel. What if we did some ratatouille shorts? In the shorts, Remy could show different gourmet recipes from all over the globe and how he would make them. It be like a cartoon cooking show where people could actually use the recipes that Remy is using. So, you don’t have to make a sequel, but you can still use Remi to make something interesting, a Disney+ series. Kind of like the Dug days series.

I had an idea for an Inside Out 2 right after I saw the first one, an idea that could still potentially be used in future instalments: I want one with Anger as the main character. Now that Riley is a teenager, she has anger issues and Anger seems to be doing nothing but get her in trouble. He has to find a way to help Riley without getting her in trouble. Now that precedent has been set for adding new emotions, I have another idea: I want Guilt to be a character. I want a story about the unhealthy ways guilt can manifest and eventually learning how to use guilt productively to atone when Riley has done something wrong. Combining those ideas: I want a story about how anger can sometimes get in the way of feeling guilty. Riley is disciplined for something and feels angry and has to learn the importance of feeling guilt, thinking about her own actions and how to improve instead of feeling angry when disciplined. I am contemplating working these ideas into a fan fiction update: I am now actively working on a fan fiction based on these ideas, where Riley gets in trouble and Anger and Guilt fight over how to react to the situation. It will explore both positive and negative manifestations of Anger and both positive and negative manifestations of Guilt

37:31 It was supposed to be in theaters. There were plans and trailers saying it would be in theaters but Disney pulled back saying it was because of rising covid cases. The actual reason it got pulled was that Disney didn't see it as profitable because literally a week later they announced that they were extending Encanto's theater run.

A good film does more than bombard our eyes with photons; it speaks to us at a deeper level. The first Incredibles film gets better every time I watch it, because there are so many different layers of meaning and storytelling. Incredibles 2, on the other hand, is nearly all surface-level stuff. Fine for a first viewing, but it's just empty calories.

I feel like Disney may have missed the part where Inside Out 2, while not the most original movie ever made, is still a well animated, amazingly written, and interesting character pierce that can open the door again for thoughtful and productive discussions about teen mental health. While mood disorders usually start closer to adolescent, anxiety disorders can start really early in children and normalizing and being open about these topics (like Puss in Boots 2) is very important. But we all know they just see that $1.6 billion box office and say more sequels since the first sequel they did after putting the kibosh on original director personal story films broke so many box office records you'd think it was personal

The only idea I can think of for a Finding Nemo sequel would be a character getting taken to a live fish market in Japan and the idea of only getting out dead. There are only three problems with this idea though. Firstly, none of the main characters are fish that are usually eaten other than Hank the octopus, unless they have one of them, most likely probably Marlin, accidentally get caught in a fishing net and was taken to Japan. Secondly, I don’t see Disney letting Pixar get that dark with the plot, probably would have worked in early Pixar days but definitely not in modern times. Thirdly, this would seem like copying another movie with the same plot, Padak. It’s the only idea that I can think of since pretty much everything has already been done. While it’s been said by Pete Doctor that it’s a big ocean and there’s so much more to explore, most of it was already explored. Coral reefs, abandoned underwater war zones, the midnight zone, a bloom of jellyfish, ocean currents, kelp forests, an office aquarium, a marine life aquarium. The only place that hasn’t been touched are the Arctic and Southern Oceans, but none of the main characters have a need to go to any of those oceans.

the ultimate question is exactly what directions can they go at this point considering the only directions pixar has at this point is to either go through sequel/prequel/etc hell or continue and try to wing it with making newer franchises which hasn't exactly been going in their favor in recent years. it's very sad and tragic to see pixar want to go that route but with inside out 2 being by far their most successful post covid project and 1 of the very few profitable post covid projects, this will definitely make them feel like this is their only option to continue success unless they want the mouse to continue shuttering the company to oblivion

A bugs life in 2018 became 20 years old I was about 11-12 from 6th to 7th grade in those years of my life I noticed that a bugs life is pretty underrated gem and I always thought it’s definitely a classic! Now I’m 18 and anytime someone brings up Pixar as a topic it seems a bugs life has the same relevancy in pop culture’s eye as home alone 3,4,5&6 it’s like a forgotten film with the only difference being one is actually 100x much better and amazing! It’s kinda sad to be honest!

There actually is a Brave sequel in the form of a novel called Bravely. Merida has. a. bet with a god. of destruction, in which she has to "change" each member of her family within a year or they'll be destroyed. Don't know if Pixar would use that plot on a movie or not

I think it's fine to tell a very small, personal story but expect a very niche market. Nemo was very light with its inspiration where Turning Red feels like it was a billion-dollar project for one person.

I don’t think we can say Pixar is back yet, need I remind you about how Puss in Boots 2 came out and everyone was hyping up Dreamworks and then Dreamworks followed it up with a mediocre movie I can’t remember, Megamind 2 and Kung Fu Panda 4? Like it’s okay to be excited, Inside Out 2 is a good movie, and Pixar is definitely not Dreamworks, but let’s not get carried away here. Just remember that even if it seems like the future is bright Pixar is the same company that released Cars 2 and Lightyear, and even their more average sequels are pretty forgettable like Toy Story 4 which I barely remember outside the ending and Incredibles 2 with the whole Incredibly average story
