Damn it, Joe. It is AMAZING to see you enjoying this story that I was overwhelmingly entertained by.it gets better and better and better. I can't really imagine how much we'll get to see in 20 episodes, and then whatever they release next year. I hope it really is another 10 or more episodes. TBH, I about ignore the ridiculous chunnie stuff, and focus 110% on the EPIC plot and characters. Shadow Garden fills my every childhood boy's fantasy. Let's end this by saying....I REALLY look forward to the next time you will hear Moonlight Sonata. :)

Olivier lived 1,000 years ago and might very well be the ancestor of every elf in Shadow Garden. However Alpha got a lot more of her DNA than most. It is worth noting that only the females survived the experiments, and even then it wasn't guaranteed. A bit of lore dump from the light novel. No spoilers, simply things the anime cut for time. The girls figured out years ago that the three heroes were actually all women. They informed Cid of that, but since most modern accounts of the battle depict the heroes as men he thought they actually where men and the girls were simply changing the lore to fit their LARP group, as aside from himself there weren't any guys in it. They also told him that possession effects people based on lifespan, most common in elves, least common in humans, and therianthropes in the middle. Again Cid thought they were making up lore to fit the group, as it was mostly elves with two therianthropes. Note, that was before the girls left to build Shadow Garden, so it was just the eight of them at the time. I also got the feeling that Nelson knew Alpha before Cid found her, at least seen her. He didn't go into details, but he thought she would of died from possession by now. He also said that the cure had been lost long ago and asked if she was awaken, though didn't explain what that was.

Regarding Alpha, it was hinted at during the lore dump this episode that Alpha was experimented on as well. Her turning into the mana overload clump was the result of her failure as a test subject. She would've died if not for Cid. Since all the members in Shadow Garden are heroes descendants, there likely were others who were failures as well and got saved by Shadow Garden.

@@OfficialShamGawd At the very least I know there are those who suffered possession without the Cult doing anything to them personally. Still we have already seen them kidnapping those who are suffering the early stages or are of the bloodline that likely will suffer possession. Alpha looked much worse than I was expecting when Cid found her in the anime. It was my understanding they still typically had the basic outline of a human-being. Still there could be cases like the girl they injected with Alexia's blood. The experiments could explain why she is the strongest woman in Shadow Garden, stronger than even Delta, who was powerful even as a child.

@@maxthommesen9315 Quite possibility. Still the Cult's experiments could of created more progenitors after they defeated Diablos. Their names wouldn't of gone down in history like the three heroes if the demon lord was already gone, which is why I'm not 100% sure they are all decedent from the three heroes. In this episode we learn that the cursed wasn't created by Diablos' dying breath like Cid originally said, but by Diablos cells that were injected in them before the fight. Still it is close enough to the true that Cid isn't totally wrong. That said this was long enough ago that if there were any other elves their bloodlines might of all intermarried with Olivier's.

Elves' long lifespan means that some living descendants of Olivier can be only a few generations apart which is made clear with Alpha being straight up a look-alike due to being a descendent of only a few generation. As an extreme exemple Olivier might just be Alpha's grandmother or close with them looking strikingly similar, instead of the other descendants being like 10 or 20 generations later with few if any physical resemblance.

@Arkhen Alpha is young for an elf, but supposedly her by the obvious few generation of separation she has with olivier, her parents and their parents are ancient by human standard. Every Shades were young as them maturing is one of the trigger that can cause the corruption, by design corrupted are teenagers at best and would end up self-destructing or dying in some other way if not taken by the cult to be experimented upon or saved by Shadow. My guess is that in that series elves mature comparatively as fast as humans until they reach their prime, but show slow degrading processes of aging beyond their prime. I think all of the shades age is similar due to being found and recruited by Cid during a process that happened when reaching a similar development, like having been saved by something that can only happen during their teenager development. By design despite not knowing their exact ages, we know that each of the Shadow Garden cannot much older than a certain point.

To be fair, I don't think Cid knows who Aurora even is beyond fighting her in the tournament. He likely missed Nelson's explanation. Also there are likely others locked up in the sanctuary. If my understanding is correct, then everyone who can be summoned for the Goddess Trials is kept here, some version of them anyway.

The sanctuary was not this futuristic in the LN, it appeared to be closer to the the normal world the cid and SG currently live in. I can somewhat understand why they changed it. Oliver the hero was one of a few girls that were successful when tested with the Diablos cells. Three girls Oliver of elves, a beastkin girl, and a human were used by the cult to hunt down Diablos for more cells. When they successfully help to acquire the arm for the cult, they were given the Hero title publicly but were labeled as men and hidden away to further serve the cult while lying to the people. Do not that men were completely rejected by the cells. At somepoint the cult allow for the heros to have children and their lineage were somehow add back into the masses. Their female descendants were shown to occasionally breakout in "possession", likely cause by the Diablos cells in their bloodline. To further hind the truth the cult promotes the excommunication of the girls with possession from society. The then abduct the girls and use them in further research.

He saves Alpha-Zeta, Alpha learns how cure it from Cid, they leave him in episode two, Alpha and the girls Cure more girls to expand SG.

*Fun Fact* : In both Novel & Manga, Aurora is actually bound to a wall with Chains. Only in the Anime they went with her being bound in a Straitjacket. The Reason is simple. With the Chains, we wouldn't have gotten Aurora's Fan-Service scene (like in the Novel & Manga).

But if you watch enough anime you realize that when the church in anime is saying things like "calamity" "destroyer" etc then that means they're the good guy. Demon King Daimao, Arefutreta (two off the top of my head. My best guess is her "almost destroying the world" meant she fought the church or something.

When delta meet alpha tried to fight her ( delta was suffering from demon possession at that time and was outcast from her pack). Alpha asked shadow to manage delta without any more arm to delta.
