@@junkid3559 yes which is true for pretty much every localized game (with a few exceptions). an example of a good localization job is ff14, but thats mainly because of michael koji fox. getting a guy like him is a miracle especially for majority of the studios out there. given how most studio's operate it is more likely that they hire outsourced localization teams to do it and this is simply what you get. but at the end of the day it is a nitpick and is not really that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. if you dont like it, simply change the language to something you find less uncomfortable or skip the dialogue entirely.

This vid covers what I think as well. The major thing that holds this game back is that it practically gatekeeps new players. Early game is awkward and tough until you get past all the mushy early stuff and get your hands on a cool unit. Story takes quite a bit of time to build up but its honestly a fun read once you get to the later chaps. The visual novel style just doesn't appeal to many people unfortunately and they often just hit the skip button. Also gacha is quite nice, whales do suffer though cuz that stuff is hella expensive.😅The dub is a mixed bag, which is what I expected, but lee en is peak

Hi, it has come to my attention from the comments that the weapon banner is 80/20 even when it debuts. And turns out, that is correct, not sure why I thought it was 100%, will be cutting out that part as it does come off as misinformation. My apologies. Edit: I know there's people out there that take issue with my take on the EN side, and that's fine, especially the Lee dub, I simply find it odd, that's all there is to it. But my point is that it might not hit the same notes for everyone else. A point of comparison I had in my mind was for games like Genshin Impact, where I feel the voice direction in EN is really good vs. the JP side, especially for the Fontaine characters. At the end of the day, what all yall are saying are correct in the long run, if you don't like the EN dub, just play on other language, plain and simple.

Some things I'd like to clarify or add: No, you cannot grind enough Ayla shards (including from pain cage) to transcend her beyond SS. It's absolutely not analogous to being able to grind out C6 Yelan. PGR is still miles more generous than genshin though for sure. (timestamp 12:00) Speaking of generosity, PGR is pretty much the only gacha where you can get all characters (excluding uns) without relying on good luck. However, PGR has definitely moved towards encouraging spending with a heavier reliance on sigs for characters after Luna's patch roughly, introduction of SS3 and other "in-between" transcend levels which granted strong bonuses and was especially egregious in Daren's case. It's still generous, but F2Ps shouldn't expect to compete in PPC and WZ as the disparity between paying and non-paying players is wider than it was in PGR's earlier days. It's a gacha, it's not surprising that spending is encouraged but thankfully, all black card rewards can be earned as an F2P. If you're playing on global, expect an inferior experience compared to CN as there are frequent typos and occasionally, bugs that weren't fixed despite them having a year (global is a year behind CN) to fix them. Don't expect your feedback to matter much either because they won't change a thing - CN patches are simply copypasted to global, excluding the language of course. Just putting this out there for those planning on spending money in PGR's global server as IMO it's not as worth it. This is a personal opinion. PGR has a lot of content each patch, but some of that content feels tedious and sometimes downright unfun. PGR is an ARPG and that's what it does best, I don't enjoy game modes like managing a settlement or solving difficult puzzles. I would be playing a different game if I wanted that. Rarely, other game modes are incredibly rage-inducing despite being combat focused, most obviously Deep Blue Warzone which was also a grindfest. Yes you get a nice Selena skin, but players shouldn't need to torture themselves for free stuff. Grinding for Capriccio in RdF was also tedious but it was at least somewhat fun this time. I think PGR should focus on combat and make side game modes at least relaxing to play, e.g. the camera angle one was pretty chill. Also, never make anything like DBZ again, and reduce the grind for free stuff. Overall, it's still a game I'd recommend for those who like ARPGs. I seem to have a lot of criticism for the game, but that's because plenty of people are already praising it so I thought I'd offer a different perspective.

And that's the reason i believe in wuthering waves to be successful :) Kuro surely made good game already not that it needs to be giga praised like hoyoverse games but i truly trust devs will make it worthwhile. By no means it will be perfect game (its a gacha game made for phones mainly) but knowing how fairly they treat the playerbase that isn't even half as big as either genshin or hsr , they still do care unlike Genshin team. While I hope WW will be successful simply because I want genshin to have more competition, I'm not too happy with how similar the gacha system is to genshin's. The only truly significant difference is the weapon banner not being a total scam. Sure, the rates and pity are a little higher and lower respectively compared to genshit, but that's the point - a . It feels like kuro is doing the bare minimum to be better than genchinchin. I understand that WW costs a lot more to make than PGR but I was expecting better than this. We'll have to wait for the game to release to see how good the F2P income is, but I bet that again, it'll be just a little better than gayshit. Don't think too highly of kuro, they're a company in the end and they'll try to milk you where they can.

I got into PGR after getting an ad of Karenina beating some robots with her canon, (and ad I´ve never, ever seen again since, because Kuro´s marketing team is a single intern looking for pennies in the couch) "thought this anime cyberpunk beat ´em up looks cool, what is it exactly?" and looked it up. I learned that the global version had just come out and knowing that when they are just starting is the absolute best time to get into Gachas, I decided to try it out. For starters the gameplay felt cooler than any other mobile games I had tried, with the exception of Genshin Impact, but that game had straight up predatory rates and I felt like it was trying to give my poor phone a heat stroke when I played it, both problems that PGR didn´t have, despite being even flashier that genshin, I really liked how it translated they usually awesome fight scenes you would see in shows like RWBY to simple phone controls. The gacha felt like the fairest I´d seen too, with guaranteed characters on debut and a pity you can reach comfortably if you play daily, it´s barely a gacha at all if you look at it as buying the characters for 15K BCs (the game´s gacha currency) each with a very small chance for discounts. But what truly gripped me was the story. I´ll begrudgingly admit that the first arch meanders a little... or a lot... But anyone who plays gachas will tell you that the first few chapters are always very weak, it´s inevitable since the writers have to find their footing while simultaneously introducing a self insert character to all the elements of the setting. PGR specially struggles because it has SO MUCH it has to unload on you from the beginning so it will all make sense later. The first boss is foreshadowing for a faction and a part of the plot that wouldn´t be relevant until more than a year and a half later, for example. But that´s precisely what hooked me. The game set up all this questions, "what are Ascendants? ""What is the Ascension Network?" "What or who is the Sage Machina?" "Who is that weird construct that looks a lot like the main character?" "And since she is obviusly the main character with white hair... HOW?!" and the way it was all subtly weaved into the plot in later chapters gave me confidence that the writers could live up to the expectations set by those questions. And as my confidence paid off I found myself immersed in a beautiful Sci-Fi tale that explores tons of fascinating themes. Punishing Gray Raven has managed to make me laugh, cry and fall in love with it´s story and world like few games have and I can´t reccomend it enough.

tbh most new players just see the video made by Blanc, get too hyped, play the game, realize that it's not the paradise they envisioned, get bored quick, and leave. I feel like before you start a game, you should get to learn all the aspects of it (especially in a gacha game) and then make ur decision from there. Everything was spot on! Frequent typos, unfixed bugs like the Balter Babel event ending a day earlier and not accepting responsibility for that mistake (they had ONE YEAR to fix this when it happened in CN but lazily copypasted the update to global like they always do), and most recently, cutscenes forced to EN dub even for players who chose the JP dub (though they finally owned up to their mistake this time and apologized). Don't get me wrong, the game is fun but honestly, I don't understand why global players think kuro is worth supporting when global is basically treated as the 2nd class server. You're paying the same for inferior service compared to CN. I regretted giving them any of my money after realizing this.

Have not watched the video but here's some experience from a player who played since Alpha Crimson Abyss came out to Ayla Kaleido: It's a good game, good storyline, interesting characters that come back to the spotlight few chapters later after being introduced with their own missions, amazing character design, except for when you focus on the fan service: Ayla, Qu Shukra, Alpha Crimson Weave(put some god damn clothes on) and Bianca. The combat and mechanics are great, most characters feel different than their older versions and also sound cooler, powercreep is not that problematic unless you dislike the upcoming characters or are too attached to your current teams that the new characters don't seem as interesting, because then you're also forced to pull for Meta or struggle to complete some content that gets harder with each patch: Phantom Pain Cage, War Zone, Stronghold. Even if you don't play for Meta you're still forced to because the content will catch up to you and you won't be able to upgrade your characters as easy as before. For f2p the game is great, you can get every other 6* character and get their weapon later if you like them. The older characters also get "leaps" that make them stronger and half as good as the unit who powercrept them. You also can get weapon and omn selectors which give you free stuff + some upcoming characters can be obtained through events for free(not time limited events, they're always open) if you don't have enough currency to summon on their banner.The bosses, music make every boss fight an unforgettable experience, not mentioning you also have a new and cool omn each time - you are guaranteed to have fun if you're into testing your skills and are looking forward to a challenge. Why is this game not as popular? People have bad opinions about it since global release, Kuro does not know how to make their game popular so if you play it it's probably because of a yt video or google market saying "You should try this". Also it can get boring if you're not interested in X or Y things keeping this game alive: Characters with anime power ups during the story and the actual designs giving characters their own identity. This is just a review from someone who quit the game, yes it can be interesting but for F2P it's still pain

I genuinely lime the story, although the beginning does feel slow, most if not all stories start like that, laying out the situation, then while the story develops, you get glimpses of context along with new situations, but basically all you need to know to understand the world is told at the start; the only problem I have with it, is the time, how long has it been since the outbreak? Is the skk babylonian? If so, how old is he? What about the F.O.S, how many years does is one a there? There are many thing that doesn’t match in that area tbh, and as a global player that has only been in the fandom and playing the game for around 5-6 months, I don’t know a lot, but I’m certainly fascinated by the story, it has it highs and ups; at the end of it, I just tend to enjoy whatever I have in front of me, just find the little things that you like and put on pink tinted glasses, there’s no need to find defects in what you like, because those things could make you enjoy less and less something that one actually liked.

I started playing PGR a day after Bianca Stigmata banner (dang it I missed a great deal there 😕) and playing the game till lvl 75. I just skipped all the story as I play it on mobile, the font scaling is awfully small, the font type with squarish style doesn't help it at all. I need to squinch my eye to read memories description. I just give up on doing any reading on the game and just follow guide to built my character. I stopped playing the game as I can't enjoy any story due to the game font. But I came back for Crimson Weave, I don't know if I'll stay long or not for this time around.

As a newcomer, I personally love that I feel able to "max" out a character as a f2p without having to plan years in advance. In so many other gacha games even when my characters are perfectly fine to play, there's always the nagging feeling that they'll never be "complete" until I max-rank them with their signature weapon or something. I realize this is more me having a collector's mindset, but I like that in PGR it actually feels possible to do within a decent timeframe.

i think it can feel like "the least gacha, gacha game" because if you plan, you can guarantee getting every character, ofc you wont be getting every weapon and cub without luck or money, but the character's gameplay isnt strictly locked behind gacha. You explained the combat in this game better than the game did lmao I tried PGR not long ago and while I do still think the game looks cool, I just felt so overwhelmed as a new player trying to understand what going on. It felt like it rushed me into a place where they think I’m supposed to automatically know what these orbs do, and then it rushes me to the first boss of the chapter pretty quick and I’m still trying to get a handle of the controls and movements. In other words, the into pacing felt a little too fast for me and I’m a slow learner for the most part. Sure I’ll get the hang of it but it might take me some time, especially with how complex PGR’s combat system felt. But all in all, I just felt like showing some respect to Kuro’s first game to see what they were about since I’m going straight to Wuthering when it releases.

As someone who played pgr every day for a whole year, I also have something to say. Story: I actually don’t like the story after Kowloon fight. It changed from sci-fi anime shitpost to sci-fi anime HIGH STAKES DEATH OR HIGH WATER NO SECOND CHANCES. And it also became exposition for exposition sake, I don’t want to read 1000 lines of dialogue that can sum up in 10 or less lines. Skipping story for me or not playing it at all became a norm for me. Gacha: I’d say it’s misleading at best and a lie at worst. The only good thing about gacha in pgr is 30 pity weapon banner, character banners 70% or 100% is a scam. Free characters: using Ayla or free selectors is misleading. Before Bianca you got like 2? Free selectors that have basic gen 1 S ranks that are absolute dogshit except Lumi. As for Ayla, giving the current situation in Ice teams, it’s an insult that Kuro didn’t pay US to take Ayla. Dub: I don’t know if you know, but Kuro went out of their way and redo some of the voice lines of certain characters. Liv is the obvious one, having her VA changed entirely. Others got revoiced like Rozen and Wanshi, and now they sound absolutely awful, thank you Kuro very cool. EN dub: absolutely awful, characters sound like shit, some chars are a complete mismatch. Hearing bri’ish Bianca can be compared to CIA torture techniques. Gameplay: You were right about one thing - there is no point in playing for more than 10 minutes a day. At least for me, the fighting in this game became tedious and boring, just like the story. I think that’s all for now, great video anyways

I find that the pc control imo pretty good, i had to get use it but after that it felt more engaging playing on pc versus on mobile since with the orb system i press 1-4 orb using keyboard while 5-8 using my mouse and it felt very engaging and learning new units felt much more satisfying

Played almost since day 1, taken two longer breaks from in (6-12 months) without feel like i got too far behind? And its still my fav gacha of all time. The music, the character design (!!!) and story... The negative aspects mentioned in this video doesnt really bother me personally so wont agree or disagree since theyre non existent issues to me personally. I love the novel like story and tend to skip some EX-story chapters whenever i find them not being great/the character isnt as interesting, without missing out too much of the main story. And 10 min gameplay...sure a lot of games can offee 10 min dailes if thats all you can or bother to do but this game has sooo nuch more content than that not even mentioned for some reason. But it's good that there are different games for everyone to enjoy, personally found genshin as exciting as doing chores or homework, terrible devs greedy af. . Kuro is not perfect but definitely more generous

The commandant gameplay does not need to exist, the whole lore of the game is that YOU take control of the constructs and that's why you play as them VS watching them auto battle for you (Azur Lane/Blue Archive) as you give orders. However I do agree that one of the major flaws of this game is it's early game, mostly due to the fact that the older frames are not updated, at all. like base Lucia, Lee and Liv are literally feel like joke characters you'd see in a fighting game, so playing as them as an introduction to the game is horrendous for new players, especially when you see what Crimson Weave can do, and then compare it to all of the A rank constructs and outdated S ranks.

I found out about PGR last year when they announced the crossover with BRS. I love BRS since 2012 and I found out BRS was having a collab with PGR and at that time I didn’t know what PGR was. When I saw the trailer I was amazed and wanted to play PGR. When I did I thought the gameplay was cool, but the story and everything else didn’t catch my attention. Because of that I dropped the game. I came back to if very few times through last year just to see what’s going on and not much of anything. Then I kid u not I decided to go back to this game last week and saw Crimson Weave just came out and I was like “oh hey it’s that one character people kept saying how cool she was back then”. So I decided to pull for her and got her within my first 10 pull and uh yeah she’s so COOL!!! I been playing PGR for a week straight now just building CW up and doing those Welcome Back missions and I been having fun with CW and how the game is. Still the story isn’t catching my attention but as u said it drags at first so I’m really hoping it captures my attention later. All that being said, I’m still looking forward to get BRS and DM when they come out for global release. Although I found out I missed the collab with 2B and that did got me upset.

When you play the game and music hits and beats drop you realize you are at +1.5k combo with 2 QTEs available and boss is on 5x hp bars left and you bested the boss while dodging every single hit. Its not even remotely easy but you enjoy every second, every retry and every combo Yeah that's PGR in a nutshell

Also they did change English lines of Alpha Crimson and Lucia plume so and I think they aslo changed no.21 Ferals lines as well so I think they will continue doing that. Hopefully Chrome En voice changes because it's so bad. I was also one of those players that came from pure play store recommendes and knew nothing about pgr.

Hey, just a small correction! Both Genshin and PGR use the same game engine, so the only thing they are limmited by is their choice of reusing assets and of course, the performance. I m pretty sure nobody would play the game if the game would run like Genshin does on mobile, so they chose to cut graphics and level design quite a bit in exchange for performance!

This is mostly a well put together review, however the weapon banner is always 80/20 regardless of debut or not. I've been in the camp of losing the 80/20 b2b2b. Since there's no guarantee for your target (other than dismantling 3 6* weaps), you're just relying on the percentage rates to fall in your favour. Thankfully more often than not, I usually get the rate up early.

Nice video! I played PGR for a long while (but take breaks sometimes because of my schedule) but it always stuck out as a game I enjoyed the combat much. That said, I only found out there's a pc version recently somehow and tried it. And BOY do I agree that it feels ... weird on PC compared to mobile. Which was funny and sad because the graphics looked way better in my PC than my phone, but I'd rather play it in my phone if it means fighting well pfft. Thanks for this amazing video!

They make money with skins (there is a lot of them each patch) , battle pass, whales, or even casual player who want to spend a little bit in some chip packs. Surprisingly I spend almost the same amount of money on PGR and others gachas. But yeah, they probably get less money than the others. Maybe that is why they spend less money on the marketing side. Anyway, great video, I've never missed one day on this game since the release, it's the only game that I'm not bored with after all this time.

I can agree, and also dont agree about the port. I also suffer from these random buttons that has not optimal positions, but on the other hand it's me at fault, the lazy ass who didn't changed buttons to convinient ones. Lees example is not so good. Tbh his EN voice has other vibe and at ult sound even better than JP. The real problem as for me are female VA. They sound way to similar to each other anmd during plaing with en dub i just can't understand who is talking just by voice. The only exception is Vera's VA, she put a lot of emotions. :)

Pretty brave I'd say lol. I agree with some of your points. I agree with the early drags, have a hard time to convince friend to stay and I need to guide them so they don't make bad decision and stuff. And I also understand alot of people say the combat and char design is the selling point. But my concern is that when these fail and when newcomers don't like the new character the whole thing easily fall off. In that regards I hope they decide to do better with story and start look beyond just combat. Adding dub in story and better presentation is always been my concern. If less popular game like Aether Gazer can dub their whole story. Why not PGR? I play since day 1 and i really hope they offer more and not just combat. So people can enjoy the game with various contents it has to offer.

They have 5 servers including CN, and the CN one 99% makes like 2x combined of the others from what we know. Basically they make >2mil EVERY month. reinstalled pgr few days ago and i'm already regretting it (again). So many f-ing dailies and weeklies. It has 3 times the content of a regular gacha, meaning they expect you to play pgr all day to finish them 1) Cage, 15 runs 2) warzone 12 runs (cheesable ) 3) The mining thing (like 10 stages of 3-4 teams EACH, so 30-40 boss fights with annoying buffs, even more if you want to make it easier by removing the buffs) 4) 21 coop (someone should get fired for this , 21 really?) 5) whatever event is going on (90% of the time is a boss rush that requires at least 12 well built characters or a horde mode with too many trash enemies with 20+ health bars each) 6) The fantasia thing (10 stages EVERY DAY) 7) The other thing similar to fantasia (haven't tried it yet but I bet it's another 10 daily runs) 8) Guild weeklies (did they remove the guild wars thing where you get weapon banner currency? idk) 9) The stupid dorm stuff Did I mentioned every single one of these 9 features has it's own unique currency and store? Yeah , have fun with that.

All the main stuff you do is dailies, weeklies and even stuff, the rest you do whoever you want. I found the way to play less and drill keep up is do the permanent stuff whenever I want and just do dailies and weeklies twice a week with Phantom Pain Cage on the weekends.

I'm glad you brought up the issues in this video, because i agree with almost all of them. Especially about the early game slog as it is my biggest warning i give to anyone who wants to try it out. People overhype PGR (especially after WW launch and then ZZZ "competition") but it's just overall a good game with tons of nitpicks and a smooth as butter PC client with silly input hassles and bad ping glow conversions. While i do think the story actually goes off the rockers and genuinely becomes great over time, it's subjective and that's fine. And PGR community should always really be a niche thing, even if the rise of WW has brought a ton of attention to it, so i am glad i have this video to recommend for a quick tooltip of the expectations for the game

I actually play the game daily and do all my weeklies I just literally never do story 😂. It took me A VERY LONG TIME to realize that Alpha is Lucia? I thought she was her sister? Hey! Another 2 year player here! I really liked your review and I would like to give my thoughts on PGR too. 1. The combat Personally, I found the combat to be pretty unique, the orb system felt s little weird but I was able to eventually get used to it without too much of a problem. I really like the fact that the game's combat felt so smooth, especially for a mobile game, which I used to always think were just going to be shitty copy-paste games thst can be made in 20 seconds. The animations look cool as hell, especially on the newer gen 2 frames such as Hyperreal. Uns are also pretty fun to play due to their exclusive mechanics as well. 2. The story I really like a story in games. You can pull people in with flashy gameplay, cool characters, etc, but story is one of the main reasons that I spend time in a game. To be completely honest, the early chapters (ch. 1-8) are HORRIBLE. I recommend to just going online and reading a sunmary of these chapters because they aren't too significant and the writing sucks. It gets decent at 9, and chapter 12 was actually fire. Most chapters from then are actually pretty decent, with some really good ones being Liv Emperya's story, Noan's story (though it was pretty long), Nanami/Haicma's story, and Lee Hyperreal's chapter. I do agree that the story's presentation kinda sucks, but I usually only read it when I feel like reading a book, so it does its job well. Overall, it starts very slow but ends up being very enjoyable for me! 3. The soundtrack Is fire. No complaints. 10/10 (Hikari >>> Narwhal tho) 4. The Gacha PGR's gacha is pretty different from most other games. In a lot of gacha games, especially the first one I've played (Azur Lane), you are able to do at least a few pulls per week and there are MANY events and characters who drop. Playing PGR felt pretty jarring at first because of the fact that we get one major event every month. While this allows me, an F2P player to save BC for upcoming characters, it really feels like the "hype" around a new patch releasing only lasts for about a week or so before things die down, which is pretty different from other games. It's also kinda bad for new players because if they don't join at the right time, they'll be missing a lot of key characters, which are needed to complete your teams in PGR, For example, I joined immediately after Luna's patch, and I've never been able to get her, rosetta, plume, and alpha. Even now, I'm still missing Luna and Alpha, so my dark team is on severe cope rn, and so was my physical, until Bianca came along. Also, a lot of characters just are really cool, and would suck to miss. If i missed Lee Hyperreal or Bianca Stigmats just because I joined later, I would probably feel pretty bad because they're cool as hell lol. So for any new players out there, if you wanna play, you've gotta start ASAP, especially when they're dropping new gen 2's left, right, and centre.

less than 2 years playing, as f2p, and taking some breaks... i have all the characters i like and all my teams working fine... you just have to not try to get everyone as soon as they release. my tip is to always do weekly missions and complete event challenges and story stuff, also alternative challenges. also, free selectors and free dorm characters this year will also help you build up BC to try to get those old characters you couldn't get before... But tbh, i think i'm just fine with my teams cuz i didn't make a Fire team, i only use Roland for that :v Later this year, some lightning and fire characters will release and im gonna be able to make a better one with gen 2 characters, so yea :) For new players, just try to go grabbing the characters you like, having at least 8 or 10 characters you like maxed as an objective is a good start. After that you can think on teams meta and stuff like that... imo 5 characters of each element maxed and being played well is better than full teams that aren't fully maxed or you don't know how to fully use them.
