Today, we gather to reflect on the life of a remarkable man named Bennett. While sifting through the remnants of his existence within these walls, I found traces of his obituary, capturing the essence of his journey in the following words.
Bennett, born on August 13, 1940, and passing away on June 21, 2022, at the age of 81.
Bennett suffered a fall during his regular five-mile dog walk, fracturing three ribs and sustaining a head injury, effectively marking the onset of his final phase. His life concluded in the early hours of the Summer Solstice in 2022, an event that might have held mystical significance to his poetic mother, Melba. Despite grappling with disabilities and a form of dementia that gradually eroded his mental state, Bennett faced these challenges with grace and humor. In May, a series of seizures and strokes further deteriorated his condition, culminating in his peaceful passing two days after the last incident.
Bennett's name, meaning "blessed," held a significant place in his life as his mother's maiden name. Though occasionally shortened by an ill-informed ski instructor, Bennett's name symbolized his family's heritage and the promise of divine guidance throughout his journey.
Surviving his emotional adolescence with the aid of his Aunt, Bennett transitioned into adulthood, focusing his keen intellect on his roles as a husband and father. He cherished these blessings throughout his life, striving to be the best father to his son, Rob, and maintaining strong family ties despite imperfections.
Beyond his upbringing, Bennett possessed formidable writing and debating skills akin to Winston Churchill's unwavering resolve. His determination and conviction were evident in his dedication to family, friends, and clients, although his belief may have provoked frustration among those closest to him at times.
Acknowledging his shortcomings, Bennett lamented his lack of organizational skills, yet he admired and cultivated relationships with individuals possessing such talents. He deeply respected excellence and integrity in others.
Following his fall, Bennett relinquished certain aspects of his life, including his adventurous pursuits and material desires, yet his core values remained steadfast. He continued to uphold his writing standards, exhibited unwavering affection for his dog Cody and son Rob, and maintained his Southern manners until the end.
Despite experiencing memory lapses, Bennett's passion for sports endured, surprising even his wife, Judith. Their enduring love, expressed recently when Judith reminded Bennett of their half-century together, highlighted Bennett's masterful command of language, a skill he retained until his final moments. Now, let's step inside and explore Mr. Bennett's past.

They blocked off half the living room while tearing out the fireplace that once existed in the back of it. (Purely safety precaution) The point of access is in the back side of the house behind the plywood where they hauled out bricks & construction debris. ❤️🙏

No one would go to all that extra work and extra materials. Not cost effective. I have been in the Design and Construction industry for 30 years. The put up safety rails.

Hi Rick!❤ well that Mansion was awesome, but you know what I think it would take a lot of money to fix it up? That closed off room? Idk 🤷‍♀️ maybe that big hole in the floor they wanted to block it off, maybe it was someone’s bedroom that has passed away, people do that. I hope you have a great day

I think the price tag on the chair was ment for the hole set table included. It's kind of funny that there wasn't as many smaller items probably people over time walked off with a lot of things.

that room behind the room was intriguing , wonder what it was, it sort of looked like an elevator but then again the ladder to the bottom floor seemed as if it were hiding something at one point.. did you see that part in the basement? was it all blocked off like the rest of the house was blocked off from it? just strange and i would guess it hid treasures at one time.

Maybe that room was used for a Dumbwaiter (since removed) with access to deliveries from the outside.

Once again, you knocked it out of the park!! I love all of the information you found out about the previous owners and what their life and times were like. This house is simply amazing! Wow!! You had mentioned a son, Rob (I think?) . I wonder why he or any other relatives, didn't end up taking over the home. Seems a shame doesn't it?! I notice the outside windows have those keystone above each one. I remember hearing the meaning behind those at one time as well. I wld have to say the green dining room was my favorite as well! The colors of the walls and the darkness of the wood....so beautiful!! I sure hope that this house doesn't get demolished!!! Quick!! Someone buy a scratch-off lottery ticket!!! 😊 Thank you for sharing another AMAZING find!

I love old antique furniture, and old houses but as a reality agents said once to me, I asked what if a house is haunted and you'll know it through other renters? Well she stated if they means renters don't,t ask don't,t tell. They house will never sell if people knew it were haunted, especially people that are very sensitive to the spiritual rims and or have e.s.p that can sense. Unseen things or people. Usually they don't want the house usually , spiritual incidents occurs at night, or when you're by yourself why,,? Your answer is as good as mine, know one things is scared the zap out of you , because you're not expecting that occurrence to happen ,so think twice before buying old as to old, to ol and to houses I the walls could talk, that's what it means haunted. Children are usually the one that see or hear things they knows people don't usually believe little children but they are three times more sensitive than us grown up. We throw it to the back of our minds , but children reacts to the spiritual rims they run! Screams or out the house they leave . Children said mommy I seen or heard ! We grown ups say, uh, you're just imagination it's nothing zap! You see it them oh ! The hink twice before you buy, take what I had said with a grain of salt at your own risk, some love em, some fear em.

Thinking that they closed off the servants or summer kitchen to make an elevator room. Ran out of funds or changed mind and boarded the kitchen wall only as was cheaper than finishing off a complete room. I need more info on Mr. Bennett like what did he do, I needed the dirt on him. Lol

Incredible words! I can’t believe you got that from just an obituary that you found. Man, if somebody would just cover the giant hole in the roof where that dormer was destroyed and patch the small holes that you saw it would go a long way in preserving this house until somebody can buy it or the family can fix it. Also, as long as you can keep all the asshole kids out that destroys stuff. I would say after another year, maybe two the house would reach the point of no return and at the very least would be a complete gut job. What state is this in? Great video as usual Rick.

Why would the windows be left open? No wonder the walls were filthy and moldy etc.. How long was this house empty? I'm so glad that there wasnt any graffiti. I also wonder why this house wasn't put up for sale or left to the son. Thats what happens to a lot of homes. People pack up, leave and the house just starts to deteriorate fast, especially when the windows aren't shut. 😢
