This is the original version. Whitney's, God rest her soul, was the cover version.

What a spectacular work of art. This to me totally blew away Whitney's cover, making this soaring anthem of self dignity and self love sound sappy and saccharine. Benson's vocals and the vocal arrangement in general is powerful and passionate, with a depth that makes the message stand out loud and clear. Such an impressive and heartrending composition. Proud that was born in my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA!

George Benson is renowned for his skills on a guitar, in this song he decided note to include it. You do want to hear his amazing talents on guitar soon.

This version of Greatest Love was recorded by George or the soundtrack of the film, The Greatest. An overlooked gem eclipsed by Whitney's version. Both recordings were released by Arista Records.

George Washington Benson is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He began his professional career at the age of 19 as a jazz guitarist. A former child prodigy, Benson first came to prominence in the 1960s, playing soul jazz with Jack McDuff and others. George wrote these inspiring lyrics that millions have heard and loved them.

It's a sin that George Benson isn't in the Hall of Fame. This is the best version of this song, not the popular Whitney Houston cover. Lilting is better than loud. If you are familiar with the "Abbey Road" album by the Beatles, George covered the entire album, at once. And his version of "On Broadway" by The Drifters is unmatched.

At one point I think he said every album he released had one Beatles track on it.

George is famous for "Scatting" with his guitar solos. He vocalizes every note while playing it. Very unique indeed. This is great. GEORGE BENSON On Broadway Album Version

The song was written and recorded to be the main theme of the 1977 film The Greatest, a biopic of the boxer Muhammad Ali, and is performed during the opening credits. George new greatness.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! You are the very FIRST reactor on KZbin (that I have seen) who has reacted to this, the ORIGINAL version of this Linda Creed song performed by Benson. All other reactors have just reacted to the same old (and not nearly as good) cover by Whitney Houston, so it's wonderful to see someone, anyone, react to Benson's much superior, and heartfelt rendition. Great reaction.

Your relationship with your Patreons/Subscribers has been very enjoyable for you and us. We lay them down and you pick them up. The process puts a smile on all our faces as you learn more about the music we grew up with. It has been my pleasure to be a part of your journey. My son Mike said.... JM got lucky when people like you (me) discovered his channel with all your knowledge of classic rock tunes he can't go wrong.

"The Greatest Love Of All" - George Benson I believe the children are our future Teach them well and let them lead the way Show them all the beauty they possess inside Give them a sense of pride to make it easier Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be … Everybody searching for a hero People need someone to look up to I never found anyone who fulfill my needs A lonely place to be And so I learned to depend on me … I decided long ago Never to walk in anyone's shadows If I fail, if I succeed At least I'll live as I believe No matter what they take from me They can't take away my dignity … Because the greatest love of all Is happening to me I found the greatest love of all Inside of me The greatest love of all Is easy to achieve Learning to love yourself It is the greatest love of all … I believe the children are our future Teach them well and let them lead the way Show them all the beauty they possess inside Give them a sense of pride to make it easier Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be … I decided long ago Never to walk in anyone's shadows If I fail, if I succeed At least I'll live as I believe No matter what they take from me They can't take away my dignity … Because the greatest love of all Is happening to me I found the greatest love of all Inside of me … The greatest love of all Is easy to achieve Learning to love yourself Is the greatest love of all … And if, by chance, that special place That you've been dreaming of Leads you to a lonely place Find your strength in love

The original version from the soundtrack for The Greatest. I thought you'd at least recognize it through Whitney Houston's remake, which I love, but this original rendition is it for me. Guess you had to be there.
