I love hearing John talk about just... Life. It's a reminder that even popular KZbinrs struggle too. A reminder that his goofy side shown on PM7 is only one side of him. And seeing him open up is something that a lot of people need, a reminder that they aren't alone. That people they look up to can feel insecure, disheartened, and doubtful. And it's an important message.

If I’m being honest, I always personally struggled with confidence because I never thought that people really appreciated me, let alone me appreciating myself. But I want you to know that I and a ton of other people love what you do and you always bring a smile to everyone’s face. I’m not saying what I’m saying changes anything, I just want you to know that. And how we care about what you’ve done

I think it's an important thing to realize that as a bigger youtuber you are a role model to people; just you opening up about your struggles helps so many people, it shows that that is an okay thing to do. I guess if there's anything to ask for me personally it'd be how did you cope with societal pressure while making the choice of this career path

So this question sounds really childish in my opinion but advice would you give to someone who really wants to start a KZbin channel but feels extremely nervous about putting out content mainly due to anxiety over wether or not people will actually enjoy it? I and a couple of friends have thought about starting a channel but I keep getting anxious that we won’t do well and we’d all end up feeling like idiots. We feel so inspired by what you do, your content is really engaging and even slightly more serious content is inspirational to us because it makes us feel good to know that people can be brave enough to make content like this. We truly appreciate what you do here John.

people are excited to learn more about you because you HAVE helped them already. they care about you not just as the guy who plays pokemon, they care about the guy behind the camera because the work he's done has brought them joy. and wanting to connect and relate isn't a bad thing! you said it yourself. don't overthink it. absolutely take questions you find interesting or that you've possibly been eager to talk about but hadn't had the chance to before and just go for it. this channel is about you being more human and i think that's brave. anything that puts you out there and perhaps shows more vulnerability is a brave thing to do and i'm excited and happy for you, john. keep doing what you're doing, take it one step at the time and things will fall into place. thank you for all the content, i'll happily keep tagging along for the ride.

What really helped me with creation (not videos in my case, but music) and not feeling confident is the cake theory I saw online - as a creator you can look around and see that someone else's cake is more elaborate than yours, but the audience will just see two cakes. More cake! And some people prefer the cake you made and see as less over anything else. Only you can make your cake.

There a few KZbinrs I go and always feel excited to watch. You are one of them. I honestly never expected you to say you struggled with confidence. When watching any of your videos I’ve always thought you exuded confidence. You are joyful, you’re entertaining, and you help to lighten my day when it’s been heavy. If you ask me, you’re already helping people. There is no one specific thing you need to do to help, just be you.

I think it's pretty clear from your videos, especially your livestreams, that you want to offer a bright spot in other people's days, and love you make people life. So I guess the question I'd ask is why is that important to you? At any rate, I am glad to hear this channel will continue. Love your content, John, and your perspective on things. I'm dealing with a lot of anxiety myself, mostly around being a dad and trying to provide for my family in multiple ways successfully. None of it seems to be going right and I'm having a hard time not spiraling into anger and meltdown every time something bad happens. It's tough. What do you do to find balance and relieve stress, and when do you know when you're OK to go back to the thing that was the problem? Those questions and then your thoughts on balance, in general.

Your content matters. Those moments where you trip over your words or make mistakes make you feel relatable, and the videos feel warmer and more personal. Maybe not everyone agrees with me on that, but for folks like me who are often stuck in bed with an illness I'll never be able to get rid of, it means the world to have content from someone so kind and real. Just know that there are folks out there that really benefit from what you do.

This may be a ridiculous question but what is it like being a KZbinr? Like what are challenges that we as the viewers don’t get to see and stuff like do you have process for coming up with video ideas and just that you usually don’t get to see. Also I think it’s really cool that you are able to come out with your feelings and share to the world, I think it’s really brave and very inspiring

Your not the only one who lacks confidence John. For instance, I got rejected by a girl I liked and I got pretty broken by it, now because of that I’m too afraid to tell my friend that I like her because I’m afraid the same thing will happen. We all suffer from some sort of confidence problems once in our lives, it’s something everyone’s gotta overcome over time, and I support you in that quest. And let’s be honest you already have a lot more confidence then the majority of the human race. I wish I had the confidence to show my face to people while playing Pokémon, whilst making jokes.

Hello John, at the beginning of the video you talk about how you didn't think you could help people as much as old youtubers. About that: I just wanted to say that, as a relatively new subscriber, you help me out a lot. I haven't found a KZbinr that makes me smile as much as you and your content. You have quite the contagious laugh and smile if I may say. I always find myself smiling whenever I watch one of your videos so I wanted to thank you. I am pretty sure your subs will enjoy any content you will bring in the future.

There's a number of comments here already that have said what I want to say but better. Personally, I just love watching your videos and listening to your thoughts, hijinks and interests: for example I don't really care for sport, but listening to someone gush about things they enjoy gives me so much serotonin - there's been a number of times I've fallen asleep listening to your videos, streams and VODs (not in a creepy way, I promise). If you have a story to tell, tell it. It might not have a significant message in your opinion but I can almost guarantee that it will resonate with someone out there - and if not, then you've provided us with 10-15 minutes of an insight into you as a person rather than a KZbinr. That being said, if and when you find a way to work through the funk of self-confidence, I for one would love to hear it, as I can absolutely empathise with that and would value any insight into working on mental health and self-image. Look after yourself, man. You're an incredible person and a joy to watch, regardless of the subject matter.

And I think that it's brave of you to look outside of what will just be popular and actually asks the tough questions if you're looking for example. To good questions to talk about. I would try to talk about making friends especially in high school places like that because I think you're looking to talk to someone as your young self and I. I don't usually comment much, but I feel I could here. You are an amazing person John and I am sorry you are dealing with confidence issues, in any case, I find this channel and in general this window on the John Guy more than PM7 refreshing. I am a 26 year old Italian man with an affinity with shiny collection and randomly stumbled upon one of your videos a year ago and, while arguably having not much of a habit in following creators I stuck around, perhaps even having streams in bg(I never followed streams, usually I tend to get bored in the long run or simply don't want to lose focus in other things I am doing) or rarely commenting with a few memes and I feel even your mundane talk or stories are nice to put you at ease, like talking to an old friend. I am happy that you decided to do a channel of this type in which you can show more of your character and not only the funny frog man PM7 which is only a fragment of the picture of John. I hope to see more of those videos, they don't really have to be amazing stories, just because, like when you are talking to an old friend, you have an interest in listening what they want to tell you, on both serious or meme subjects.

My joking comment about the Nicene Council aside, I really feel you here. I came out of grad school about a year ago with a lot of trauma from an abusive research advisor and I've been left with very little self confidence as a result. I'm now working in an amazing job at a great company that actually treats me like a person, I have face time with the company president multiple times a week and have been given great trust. I own a house and have a lovely wife at 24, but when I make a judgement calls I always second guess every decision I make. With that said, is there something that you think informs your lack of confidence?

Since this video was about the struggle with confidence, I'll give it a shot and try to write and hopefully publlish this comment, as well. My point of view about well known people, celebrities included, they are all still people, still human beings, they have their own struggles and problems, every single one of them. The thing is, that nearly noonene of these people talk about their struggles. Your intention of talking about exactly this for helping others is such a wonderful thing to see, I really like the thoughts you put behind this channel, and the way you put it up and just give it a shot. My personal question would be, if you had to deal with some sort of pressure in the past, and if so, if you would tell us the story about how you dealt with this pressure, or would deal with it today. Thanks for reading

I may not be in the same line of work but a question comes to mind about how you have changed your measure of success and how do you deal with those moments of lack of confidence in your efforts? Have you figured out a way to approach your goals that make them feel attainable? Just something that I feel is a struggle for me as I often feel less than confident in my abilities in the moment as well. I'm about to graduate from highschool, and I don't know where to go from here. I'm going to college because that's what I'm supposed to do, but I have no idea what I want to study. My parents are religious and want me to go on a mission but I've been having a lot of doubts about religion and don't know how to tell anyone. I also want to start my own KZbin channel, but I find it so easy to get distracted from working, especially with other things happening in my life like work and school. It feels like I'm trying to balance a million things at once and it's splitting me apart. I don't have any specific question to ask, this is just what I've been feeling.

Hey, John, buddy, you just gave me the inspiration to keep going and try again. I've been in a loop of giving up over and over again, but imma try. Between you and MandJTV, I cannot express how much you've given to me.

Awesome to hear this but for him to say he’s not that confident but still managed to make Pokémon content at our age is amazing. As someone trying to start on KZbin with no idea what to post and so scared of what people have to say about me negatively it’s stopping me from posting anything I need to know how you overcame that fear! Especially in personal life.

I love Marvel Snap too, so cool to learn that about you. Have you thought about colabbing with one of the snap creators and making a video or just do one of you playing snap and giving your thoughts? Would be so entertaining. I understand your confidence issue but you really deserve all your success and you bring a lot of joy to all of us. Thanks:)

I had the idea of posting a Let's Play on Scarlet, but I deleted my recording about ten minutes in because I got discouraged. I'm not as charismatic as you or Mikey (I look up to you guys a lot), so I decided to just...not. So the fact that you also have these moments...it's kind of encouraging to me and makes me want to try again with the next new release. I love your one-liners. I also love the spin on basic idioms that you throw in there from time to time, and I use them in my conversations sometimes. My favorite is "I'm wanting to kill two birds with one stone. ...I have terrible aim. What do you expect?" Here's a question: During your toughest moments, what's one thing that keeps you going during a rough time? I'll be honest when I say that sometimes the one thing that keeps me going is the fact that we need my paycheck to pay bills...but I also know that my friends care about me. I also have dreams for the future. Small ones, but they're dreams.

Hey, don't be hard on yourself, you're such a great creator, and that's why people like to hear about you, but if you don't wanna talk about that, I'm positive your fans will listen to anything you want want to tell them, answers, stories, all of it. One could say I put the PM7 guarantee down! I want you to know that you've changed and helped a LOT of people, including myself, just like you were changed by others.

As a person who has always struggled with confidence(and, for the most part, words), I always look to your content to give me a laugh. You're one of the funniest person I've got to seen, and whatever this channel has in store, I'll be sure to keep myself updated each upload, and on the other 2 channels too. Just remember that you have a large fanbase that like your content for you. Whatever is gonna happen next, I just hope that you can be ok.

I know I'm one of thousands in this section, but on the chance you do read this i can personally tell you that you have helped me laugh in the midst of difficult times in life and helped me keep a better view on said times and I know you've done the same for many others for much more serious situations. I personally find your channel (PM7 and this one) more helpful than many of those other KZbin channels you made this channel because of, so basically summary of the long comment Thank you for everything you do and I hope the struggles with confidence eventually go away. Thank you.

Now I know I'm just a subscriber who watches Your vods and it isn't really special at that point but as a content creator you're goal is to make entertaining videos for all of us to enjoy I can't tell you how much I love just to sit back and watch one of your live streams when I have the chance just so I could just hear what you have to say because in my opinion you are a very well knowledgeable guy a very funny guy and I think that's what the main aspect is to it that you create such a positive environment And I know for me personally that's what I love about the PM7 channel yeah Mikey's cool but John's also really cool

Okay so I've been struggling recently with missive burnout with college, and feel like the path of going to college to get a job that I don't really care about is not for me. I really would like to make something on KZbin that would allow me to better express my creativity and am going to take some time off to see what I can create. I would love to hear anything that you think that someone who is trying to figure out what they want their life to look like. I love the videos on this channel, and wanted to say thank you for clarifying the direction that you want this channel to take. I know that a lot of people (me included) will/have received a lot of vale from someone just sharing their perspective. You're the best John, and can't wait for what's next!

Honestly I think this kind of content is pretty needed in the present landscape, it acts as a counterbalance to the Content(tm) grind and the hypermasculine posturing to just hear a well-spoken dude with a head on his shoulders give thoughts in like a newspaper column way. It might be a good idea to have like a google form or something along the lines for questions, if people don't want to be "publicly" tied to their question! Being a similar age as you I probably don't have the right set of questions for this (eg how to deal with imposter syndrome given what you've said in the video lol), but I'd be curious about how you go about setting goals and targets for yourself, as well as managing expectations about them.

John, I just want to let you know that your fun videos make everyone happy. Your joy is contagious. You can take it slow and maybe do a video where we can ask you fun questions, if the questions may be too intimate or private to answer. Maybe do collab videos with other KZbinrs playing lighthearted games like fall guys where each player answers the questions so you don’t feel as pressured and can crack jokes with each other. It is important that you feel comfortable, first and foremost. Maybe like Mario carts. You don’t have to go one direction, you can do different series of videos. We want you to build confidence again, and sometimes hearing stories that may not have deeper meanings can mean the world to people that sometimes you don’t always need a deeper meaning. Why not start with fun things like childhood favorite movies and characters and why.

When people look up at people i think they forget that we all start at the same place. So I think it is important to remember people of this to help them not be discourage to move forward. Also I watch pogo player that streams on the other platform and he has mental health Mondays. we all just get together, talk and watch him play. it's it's really fun and enjoyable.

I would say 'Don't overthink it,' but S someone who overthinks everything I know that's not great advice. The best thing I have always found to do when you get crippled by doubt is just do one thing. Be it play a game, record some audio, write down some ideas, just the one thing and then go from there. Wishing you the best of luck John 😁
