Great video. I'm glad you mentioned that getting a pet is to enrich THEIR lives, not yours. I have a Yorkie and I spend at least 4 hours with him going on walks, car rides, feeding and putting to bed. It's not about him entertaining me, but me making sure HIS life is enjoyable and rewarding.

I've also got a Yorkie, a Pomeranian and a marmoset. I'm disabled so I am home 24/7. I go grocery shopping once a week and once a month to the doctor. My days and nights are spent spoiling and catering to my girls. Sometimes I'm a tree for Lilly the marmoset than I'm being asked by the dogs to play with them and their toys they're shoving at my legs lol

I have a female marmoset named Lilly Jo. She just turned 4 December 2nd. I am with her 24/7. She goes out for her sun light and also has a UVA/uvb light. Honestly they require someone who has much more than 2 hours. If you think you want one make sure you can meet their dietary needs and emotional needs. Which means as their troop leader they really need you to be able to spend many hours a day with them. They do not like to be alone. When I go shopping or to the doctor my son said Lilly just screams for me. Zero is adorable I wish you both many happy years together

I had two of these I raised from babies, male and a female. They’re really cute and funny and entertaining and will cuddle a bit, but they have a very strong odor if kept indoors, their pee gets outside of the cage and is greasy, they don’t like to keep diapers on, they fly up your legs and curtains and are ultra fast and their claws are tiny and sharp and leave itchy scratch marks on you. They also tend to use their teeth on people. My make bit my friend hard on his ear and made him bleed. He had never bit me before other than play biting which was sometimes hard. They will never be fully domesticated because they’re wild animals. Other than that they make good pets! 😂

I’ve got a very wild marmoset female which was in a zoo for the whole life. She is almost 5. Now she lives with my family and I do the same as you, hanging out with her on my shoulder. She doesn’t even think to escape from me. Although she doesn’t stand when I want to catch her, she is pretty noisy and bites. At house she tries everything to escape from me. After few bites when I take her out on my shoulder, she can spend hours on the shoulder but still doesn’t stand when I want to touch her with my hands. She is with me 4 months and doesn’t change her behavior. Is there any chance she starts approaching to me without 10 min catching all around the house every time? Have you got an idea how long does it takes if it is even possible.
@oliviareedy5034 жыл бұрын
It’s the same for Guinea pigs there is a amazing lady of KZbin with a gp rescue and she shows you how to pick them up without all the crazy running around for ten minutes with this practice I would look her up
@deztai413 жыл бұрын
Is she spayed? Female marmosets are a totally different temperament than males. A marm troop in the wild is led by 1 top female. She is so much in charge through pheromones and dominance all other females are suppressed from breeding. Only the queen is allowed to breed. She spent her life in a zoo. You might not ever have her as tame as you want. Just love her for who she is. One thing is don't pick fights you can't win. My marm Lilly hated diapers. She got bigger and yes she won and I don't try to diaper her anymore. If she wins she will dominate you by biting always.
@deztai413 жыл бұрын
Thank you for getting her out of the zoo and loving her. Maybe call local breeders and discuss how they handle their females. I had mine spayed at 11 months to avoid her getting full blown adult hormones. Females can be a handful. There are marmoset groups in Facebook that might be able to help you as well
