I worked in a restaurant and a customer caught me crying in the bathroom yelling at the mirror with my "to get a grip and you can do this" speech

@@StreamHypeBoyByNewJeans - aren’t you a guy too? A great example of toxic masculinity if you think guys can’t get stressed and upset when under intense pressure. You sad man.

I work in the industry and currently working in a restaurant within a hotel. Gives you all the benefits (personal/sick days, health benefits, discounts on hotels/restaurants, etc.), while working in a kitchen environment. 40 hour work weeks, occasionally do overtime. But to anyone wanting to get into the industry, check out hotels!

Never thought about that. What do you think that makes difference between individuals and hotel restaurants? Just curious

I was a waiter for years, and I never thought about BoH staff choosing a restaurant based its ingredients!!? 🤯🤯🍗 That makes so much sense. Also, it is absolutely CRIMINAL that (maybe just the US) back of house staff don't get tipped. Luckily, my last waitstaff job had tip pools, which really benefitted everyone down to the dishwashers.

Cool dude. Not that I know anything about food or dining but like I really would just like to cook at home. But like yeah it would be interesting to hear about what's the end game of restaurants. Like I think lots of people in a neighborhood would like to be not just a customer but be like hey this is a place in their neighborhood like what would a restaurant be good for not just them but like another level that is supportive of another aspect that they want to do in their neighborhood. Like maybe their a doctor like maybe have maybe more doctor accessible platform restaurants. Or like there's just lots of teachers and more restaurants that support them and their family. Just a thought.

I've got the same question but for barista. I'm very introverted and struggle with social anxiety but wanna try to work as a barista, and there's a lot of places where they accept you without experience and provide some basic education, but I'm still very uncertain whether should I choose a "coffe to go" or a coffeehouse/café format. Procrastinating over job hunting for a month already, wasted so much time. I really need some help.

Trained as a chef in the Scottish Highlands.. The culture for learning in the late nineties for chefs was very limited.. The personalities in television had a domino affect in a very negative way.. Very aggressive and poor management of stress was a norm, and in some ways encouraged and certainly not discouraged in any way.. Poor income and transient staff/ seasonal/ has major disadvantages for good working practise and the building of a strong team!! You need a culture that values the chef eg France and culturally RECOGNISESES and rewards with liveable incomes .. Your assessment is spot on from personal learning perspective and adds a visible layer to the transient nature of staff for different reasons. Kindness young fellow your way..Lochness Scottish Highlands..
