So fun fact: your hybrid Raiden explanation matches exactly my mindset for Hybrid sucrose. I have good em on her for her to share party wide but I also put some emphasis on her Crit stats so that she can be a good onfield driver that can do 12k per skill. Most of this though is cause of bad EM rolls on VV but it’s honestly been helpful if I have to just be on sucrose longer for specific teams.

Love Candace, and she's one of the two 4 stars that I have at C6! Got her when I pulled for Ayaka back when I was just wishing for any random character without knowing which ones I actually wanted lol. I was new to the game XD I'm def enjoying playing her with my Dehya, (the only five star I have at c1, and my first ever five star) LOL. One day I'll 36 star the abyss with the both of them, but I know it'll take a while. I need a lot better artifacts and much more practice with abyss mechanics.

Ppl do not notice, that for last two years characters are balanced around average power-level and synergy between some of them makes for a meta-team. That being said, average isn't bad, it can clear 36 star too and it's much more fun to find such crazy teams

Chevruse makes any account easier. None of her teams are top tier. But she can use a sub-par character like thoma and save your hydro, dendro, and anemo characters for other teams. I probably would have struggled with the current abyss if i did not have chevruse and clorinde. They may not be a perfect match, but it did enough on side 1. Then i just overran side 2 with hydro units.

Yeah, for Polearms only she basically single handedly made it so I had way more competent team options than I had before is all. On a normal highly invested account shes an interesting character as an option to enable competent teams, as you describe. With only Polearms she lifts up the entire accounts power level significantly

@eclipseeffigy raiden and chevruse are really good on paper and bosses or big enemies. But her range and overload is a huge pain in the ass for staggerable high hp enemies. Like the fatui fencers or the vishaps who are very common in the abyss. In a perfect world, the team is fantastic, but it can be pretty annoying.

Question re: the atk buff from SoSS conversion of EM vs the atk buff from an atk goblet on Hybrid Ei... You said it's about 400 atk with the 500 EM she has. But SoSS is on the low end of Base Attack for 5* weapons. What's the difference if you use an atk goblet while Ei is holding her sig with it's much higher Base Attack and ER to atk conversion without changing anything else about the build?

You lose EM and the crit rate that way. The point was that his build allows for good talent damage AND good transformative reaction damage.

I cut out a ton of me talking about hybrid Raiden in the interest of keeping it simple. I kept in showing the increase from the full passive to demonstrate that she can get a lot of atk from EM stats. So the point with showing that was that Raiden can have a high end attack stat because of the passive with the end goal being to keep high transformative reaction damage but also have high enough talent damage that it is worthwhile to burst. What matters is not base attack, but the entire way any stat is contributing to a characters damage output. Which gets kinda messy with this kind of build. Normally, youd choose need to choose between a transformative reaction build (hyperbloom) or a talent dmg build (traditional emblem) on Raiden. SoSS enables you to spec into stats in a way that normally is not sensible, hence "hybrid" wherein it is the balance between the two. On a resource investment level I cannot say its really worthwhile, because it takes some pretty specific artifacts, and imo doesnt make sense to do without SoSS, which is obviously a limited 5 star weapon. But it has been the difference maker between Raiden being a character I basically didnt use at all for over a year, and now I default to using her all the time, because there is a ton of different teams hybrid Raiden can work in, and allows her full kit to be utilized.

I understand the weapon and having Raiden built with em 100%, however, you can go sand/goblet etc em on ANY set, so why, the energy recharge set? Like I’m sure, other sets would make her hyper blooms do more AND give in to that weapon passive. You only have er on substats, so if you’re worries about burst, why don’t you two piece two piece, or go for we substats? I’m genuinely so confused still. Again, I understand the elemental mastery and the crit stuff, but not the 4 piece set.

Put simply: it makes her a lot easier to build. On top of the emblem passive, Raiden gets even more dmg bonus from ER%. You are correct that 4pc emblem is not benefiting her transformative damage, just her talent based dmg of course. Another universal set for a hybrid Raiden is 4pc Gilded dreams, which gives a bunch of EM and some atk%. I've found that I like having about 200% ER on for Hybrid Raiden at a minimum usually, but it isnt necessarily required to hit a hard ER breakpoint since Raiden on a hybrid build is doing meaningful dmg without actively bursting still, so its definitely an option. But personally I want to be able to burst whenever I feel the need to, which means ER is pretty important, and 2pc emblem really really helps with that. And if you are doing 2pc emblem, 4pc is absolutely worthwhile if you have decent enough artifacts (you would not gain more from 2pc EM than 4pc emblem gives unless your 2pc combos are very good). So yeah, emblem is the most accessible way of getting the stats you need, since hybrid Raiden has a lot of different desirable stats. For ease of access, the only other 4pc build Id consider is MH in conjunction with Furina, since it giving so many crit stats for free means you can almost ignore crit rate as a relevant substat in favor of ER%/CDMG/Atk%, compared to gilded wherein you also heavily prioritize ER%, but still want crit rate. I dont like limiting hybrid Raiden to being used with Furina though, and despite having a ton of MH artifacts I dont have ones that are the right balance for hybrid Raiden, hence emblem it is.

Why are you saying he could wipe the shield fast because Raiden is hybrid? As far as i know, EM will not affect how well you shield break (damage is taken into account but its very small compared to units of elements applied)

I like watching Zajef but I have to admit as time goes on, it’s starting to get really grating how he completely dismisses characters and teams that aren’t the most optimal/dont do stupid high damage. Like, isn’t he supposed to be a theory crafter? Where’s the actual crafting and not just slapping Bennett, Xiangling, and/or Xingquo on every team? And why don’t him and other Genshin CCs take on challenges like using only specific characters to clear the abyss? I just don’t get it especially when I feel like these kind of things are common in other games’ communities :/

He does do theory crafting, but I agree, I think he too often fall into the trap of “you COULD use bennet XQ, sucrose, etc” and so he immediately sees comps that don’t use them as lesser, even when the damage does not suffer with more exotic units

The issue is 3 fold. Zajeff's main aim is to explain the meta. So in his content, he'll first point out who would be the ones that get the most out of your character. So that's where Boring, Sucrose, Xingqiu etc come in. But as you can see, when it comes to the Most Effective Tactic Available, that often involves Boring for Atk scalers, Sucrose for EM and Reaction carries, XQ for Vapers, Fischl for Aggravate carries/drivers. And because this is about the Most Effective Tactic Available, the idea of who you like compared to them - Sara, C6 Diona, Yelan, Miko etc - they may be more interesting and fun to play, but from a strictly Spreadsheet Impact perspective, they're not as strong. And it's because of the Spreadsheet Impact perspective, that then his community full of Spreadsheet Andies will continue to berate and belittle anyone who doesn't play Meta. That you NEED to build Boring, and play Boring, even if you find him... Well... Boring. So yeah.

This isn't even unique to Zajef - almost every theorycrafter is going to say the same thing because many of them operate on the assumption that the average person doesn't have the wherewithal to get any- and everyone. So in order to maximize one's "bang for the buck", it's almost a given that every Carry's best team is going to be some form of National or Hyperbloom (up to and including the archons. In fact, just rolling for them gives you a Hyperbloom team that can literally play itself). And if they don't mesh with those teams, they better be an absolute powerhouse like Neuvillette or Navia or they're going to be deemed as not worth the trouble since you'd need to go out of your way to get more units to make them work (and that's assuming they don't have some jank built into their kit, e.g. Dehya). Also, let's be real: 4-star supports are kind of a meme at this point. You get the odd outlier like Shinobu and Chevreuse, but otherwise they've been super gimmicky ever since Inazuma (e.g. Sayu). With Candace in particular, she could've been a very powerful teammate for melee units (including Heizou and Wriostheley), but there are just enough misfires in her kit that prevent her from being so, from the hard cap on her DMG bonus to needing C6 for her Hydro pops to be more autonomous and consistent. Shame too. She's easily one of my favorite characters.

I will probably do another stream about Emilie closer to 4.8, but at a baseline I think she may be a lot better for hybrid Raiden (eg Thoma/Raiden/Emile/Candace), and she will make Cyno aggravate properly usable, which is cool. Other than that I think she will actually help characters like Hu Tao have better team options. Since burning should easily enable 4pc MH on Tao, and she diversifies Tao teams dps significantly enough that she probably becomes a compelling choice again (right now Tao feels much less useful due to Arles existence). There’s plenty of other possibilities with Emilie too. I imagine burn melt could work well with Emilie/Rosaria/Shenhe/Pyro too. Plenty of options I can think of just off the top of my head, which likely means she will he a very strong unit for the account.

I think you missed the main point, which was that Chevy is an important enabler of teams. That was a statement that I (keyword being "I") was making regarding _my_ account, and how I think Chev is more important. Thats it. It wasnt a comparison of damage contribution, it was a comparison of how I enjoy playing around with different teams, and Chev is more important in that regard to me. Also, you may not have noticed, but this was recorded before the abyss reset. And I dont look at abyss lineups ahead of time. You can see the livestreams if you want, but I still intend to try clearing without Arlecchino at all. I already cleared with her C6 disabled. Chevreuse is a more important character than Arlecchino, even with the added context of the new abyss cycle.

Yep I did it in livestreams, with and without C6 Arle enabled (removing her circlet and not using burst is the same as C4-C6 doing nothing). It wasnt too bad, but if I didnt have Arlecchino at all it wouldve been a very very difficult abyss I think. May mess around with trying to clear it without Arle still, as I think its doable. Just potentially miserable to optimize to that point
