I appreciate your video and i am sorry for all the hatred you are receiving. You don't deserve all the negativity. They are just mirroring them selves on you.

Hi Maureen, I normally do shut off the water while washing but since I was making a video and it was off the cuff with no written script, I forgot to turn it off. But your correct and we should all conserve as much water as possable.

Nice. Do you use the soap nuts instead of water in the cold process recipe?
@apurvakmr5 жыл бұрын
Sir, it's almost a regular soap with some sapundis saponins, possibly hydrolyzed by alkali. I am not against NaOH though

I will check my hand washing method and see if I turn off the water while I lather soap on my hands. I know I do when brushing my teeth. It seems alot of people concentrated on that. I didn't go to comments for that, especially when MOST of us (evidently, not all of us) have run water at some or another when we could have possible turned it off. Wow! And Sad.

The label I have doesn't say anything about sodium hydroxide

@Lyanna Savage Most Mass Produced Soaps won't list it on the Ingredients Label (because it's not required to list). Only Homemade Soapmakers don't hide the fact that Lye is used. The reason that Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) isn't required to list on the Label, is because it is no longer in the Soap once the Saponification Process has finished. If you remember what was taught in Chemistry in School, when a Base (Lye) meets an Acid (Oils/Fats), it creates a Salt. That's what Soap is. The Lye begins to break down and a chemical reaction occurs (Saponification) that changes the molecular structure of the Oils/Fats used in the Soap. Once Saponification is completed, there won't be any Lye remaining in the final product, as long as everything was measured correctly. U.S. Laws require you to only have to list 1 or the other for Ingredients. "In the Pot" Ingredients (meaning everything that went into it), or "Out of the Pot" Ingredients (meaning which Ingredients are in the final product). Most Mass Produced Soap Companies choose the latter choice, which is why Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) is not required to list, since it is no longer in the final product. However, what you will possibly see on the Ingredients List are: "Sodium Cocoate", "Sodium Tallowate", "Sodium Palmate", etc... These are Oils (Coconut Oil, Tallow, Palm Oil, etc...) that were Saponified using Sodium Hydroxide. Similar Ingredients can be found in some Liquid Soaps (that don't use Surfactants), but instead of "Sodium", it will say "Potassium" since the Oils were Saponified using "Potassium Hydroxide" (Lye used to make Liquid Soap).
