@@coloradoing9172 Wrong or not enough advertising? Also, maybe the film world wasn't too thrilled looking into a mirror. How this got greenlit in the 90's is something I would like to know. This movie was so ahead of its time because beside the hilarious plot it shows you how this machinery actually works and that most people in power there are the worst selfish creatures you can imagine. You can watch it today and it still is 90% true. Ask the people who are on strike now.

Montana got what she deserved. She was trying to get ahead at the expense of misery on other people. Wanted to get Celeste and Rose fired, made up a lie about her and Jeffrey, plus knowing her friend Ariel liked Jeff, and deceived David. Ariel is the one that got the revenge though. I liked that a minor character Ariel exposed Montana instead of a major character like Celeste or Jeff.

@Áine Ní Gabhann I sincerely don't think they were trying to make any misogynistic or anti-transgender commentary with "Soapdish", a movie that was made LONG before the fight for equality in the LGBT community began to have the face it has now. It's just supposed to be a movie soap opera and crazy stuff happens on soap operas all the time. It's not like they were saying "We should hate Montana Moorehead because she's transgender." If they'd gone in that direction, you'd definitely have a point. No, we're supposed to hate her because she's a villainous snake in the grass who would do anything to get ahead and come out on top. This just happened to be a small twist that explains her ruthlessness, nothing more.

People are jeering about the character being revealed as trans and their deadname outed in public. This is outing a queer person and using their identity as a weapon. It isn't a funny joke. It isn't an own when destroying a villain is done in a way that is insidious, evil, and immoral.
