I would like to thank you for your classes! I have watched (and study) them for two months before I was able to make my first real (not melt & pour) soap. I was much more interested in HP then CP. So I first started with HP and I have now made 5 patches of HP and 4 patches of CP. My first batch was a HP Lavender & Honey and instead of adding Coco or Shea I had Cupuacu Butter. Turned out Awesome!!!! Thanks to your classes. My first CP patch was your Avocuco Soap. It will not be ready until Sept. 26. This got me going in a whirlwind... I made a CP Carrot & Cucumber Soap (keeping true to the Avocuco method), a CP Coconut Milk Soap; very white may I add. I even made a CP Echinacea Tea & Aloe soap. I guess what I'm trying to say is; Thanks for setting a fire under my butt. Hugs & Kisses

Mohammed Iqubal MP HP is ready to use immediately. It doesn’t need to cure but it still is better to let HP sit for a few weeks to harden. Also because all of the fats are saponified while cooking your super fats will retain their properties. In CP the bar is continuing to saponifying the fats while they are sitting or curing and you just don’t know what oils if any are left from the super-fat. That’s what I think anyway. I hope I explained that. There might be a video here that explains the differences better than I.

Hey there. I've been greedily absorbing any and all information I can find on the art and science of soaping for the past year, including watching most of your videos. Tonight I've just finished my very first batch of hp soap and it went perfectly! It's unscented and made with oils I had in the house, but seems to lather and cleanse beautifully as I witnessed while washing up my tools and crock pot. Thanks for being the wellspring of information that you are and keep the videos coming.

I hot process exclusively and it's always interesting to see how differently people do it. Mine never separates and goes straight to vaseline stage, unless I use milks. I also never stir till the end and turn off the crock pot once a third of the soap batter gelled and let the rest of the heat cook it. My soap is very fluid with this technique and I can pretty much pour it into the mold.

Wow I'd love to see a video of that. My original recipe, when I was first learning, I didn't have to stir it down. I let it cook for about 1.25 hours and it was at the Vaseline stage and I had to plop it into the mold. Once I started adding additional oils, not sure which one cased it, I then had to stir it down every 10 minutes or it would 'boil' over.

Search for "how to make hot process soap" and "A faster way to make hp soap" by Elizabeth Lemp here on KZbin. She does it very similar to the way I do it. I never have issues with it boiling over and I don't have to constantly watch it. My soap turns out very moist also.

Thank you so much for your detailed instructions. These videos are invaluable to beginners. This video helped me make my first successful hp batch with a rich lovely lather. I did modify it jist a tad by adding after saponification 2 ice cubes of goat's milk and .6 oz cocoa butter and found that it is alittle soft after 24 hrs. Is that normal or can I expect it to harden more as it has more dry time?

First, I love your videos. I've learned and used a lot of your information so far, which leads me to this. I have tried twice to make hot process in the crock pot. My first batch turned into a glumpy mess and then hit the "Vaseline" stage, I molded it and it came out really nice, but my second batch I used about half of the amount of ingredients as I was just trying a new scent. This never went through any of the stages, it was like oatmeal the whole time. I again just molded it to see what would happen, and it seems to have come out fine, but I worry because it isn't doing any of the things in your video. Any thoughts? I'd really appreciate your feedback, I don't want to waste an ounce of this stuff! Thanks you so much!

Hot process doesn't always follow all of the phases of soapmaking. Sometimes a phase goes by so quickly that you don't even see it unless you're staring at the pot the entire time, and sometimes you skip phases entirely, and sometimes you're stuck on one phase almost the whole time. The important thing is recognizing the ending phase, and making sure your soap passes the tongue-zap test.

I went to a bee symposium a few weeks ago and they had a lady showing how to how to make hot process soap in the microwave. My aunt is having a wedding shower and i thought soap would be a great party favor. So i tried to make some but i think i over heated it we tried twice more but it still messed up. This looks a lot more promising and i wanted to put some of my beeswax and honey from our bees into it.
