I LOVE your fragrances. But, I spend a lot of money on them to get them across the US just to have the labels fade. Your new labels are pretty, but the printed info always fades. You'll have to improve on this before I buy anymore. I see that you take pride in the ingredients and are very helpful. Just find a way to protect the labels for the users.

While I make exclusively vegan soaps (so no goat or cow's milk for me), I love love dispersing coconut milk powder into my oils with my kaolin clay! It adds a layer of decadence, and I can definitely feel a difference. It's worth taking the time to work with those additives, and I like the ease of the powdered coconut milk and how it doesn't affect my superfat or water discounting. I use a very high water discount (45% or 1.2:1 water:lye) with every batch I make as my home is prone to soda ashing soap otherwise, and every gram of liquid matters. Would love to see AM's approach to a powder milk soap, coconut or otherwise!

For the milk soap - I freeze my mold before I pour my soap in it, then put the freshly poured soap in the freezer. I find that keeps it from gelling at all.

You don't have to add your milk at thin trace, you can add right into your oils, blend so it's homogenized. Also soaping at around 85° and using a cooling mat or fridge to cool will help to reduce partial gel phase. 😊

Thanks Anne-Marie for all the information. I love milk soaps and find that they actually improve the bubble factor, and are so nourishing for the skin. After many years of tinkering and problem solving I was able to figure out how to get my milk soaps to come out fabulous. I don't mess around with the superfat, I never use a wooden mold, and I put it into the freezer immediately. Millk soaps IMHO are just fabulous!

When making your own milk for soaping, like coconut milk, but still keeping it at food grade level so the pulp can be used for baking as Anne-Marie said, do we still use Distilled water to make the milk?

Thanks for this lovely information video. I will book the copy on Amazon India whenever it's available. My concern is if I make milk soap from ice cube it will be be a perfect soap as the temperature is down but if I add it as additive discounting the water from the lye mixture it makes my soap go brown And dark brown. I guess I don't keep any of my soaps on freezer due to which the soap gets dark and heated

@@lyndiforehand do you reconstitute it first or do you just add powder to the oils before you mix with lye water?
@lyndiforehand
@lyndiforehand 5 жыл бұрын
Erin Shafer I add the powder to the oils before adding the lye water. I follow the directions on the can for one cup of milk-for example, the can says 2 scoops of powder to 3/4 cup of water. If I used 16 oz of water with my lye, I’d add 4 scoops of powder to my oils. And, you don’t have to use that much if you don’t want. I just try to replicate the real thing.

Would milk and food, like cucumber expire in the soap eventually like in real life? I'm just so amazed if it doesn't than like whats the science behind it. Would the nutrients survive. Because my understanding is that oils and sodium hydroxide is neither once combining. That they make natural glycerin. Would the oils still keep their nutrients after natural glycerin? Or is natural glycerin a completely different thing where there is no more of the oils nutrients? I want to be a soapmaker and this crosses my mind often. I would just like to know a answer if there is any! Thank you!!!!

At least 2 hours in the freezer should do the trick, but you can leave it in overnight to be extra safe.
