🐝 This Honeycomb Cold Process Soap recipe is palm-free, and contains a mixture of butters and yellow beeswax to create a balanced bar. In fact, this recipe contains a full 7% yellow beeswax! Because of the high percentage of beeswax, we recommend soaping a little bit warmer than usual. We found mixing the lye and oils around 130-140 degrees F was a good temperature to ensure the beeswax was fully melted, but the soap did not overheat in the mold.

bberry.studio/honeycombcp
In addition to beeswax, this soap contains bee pollen powder and is scented with Raw Honeycomb Fragrance Oil. The fragrance is a comforting combination of cream, honey, smoke, and dried fruit. To complement the ingredients, bubble wrap is placed on top. When the bubble wrap is pulled away, it reveals a realistic honeycomb pattern.
🐝 Raw Honeycomb Fragrance Oil: www.brambleberry.com/shop-by-...
We recommend allowing this soap to go through gel phase. Because the soap is created with higher temperatures and bee pollen powder contains a small amount of natural sugars, the soap will become warmer as it sits in the mold. In our attempts to curb gel phase by placing it in the freezer and fridge, we discovered the soap still gelled in the center. Partial gel phase is completely fine - it's still wonderful soap. But, it creates a ring in the center which can be undesirable from a design standpoint.
To prevent partial gel, leave the soap at room temperature. Cover with a box to gently insulate - we did not find a heating pad to be necessary to achieve full gel phase. Keep your eye on the soap for the first hour to make sure it does not overheat and crack. If the soap starts to crack, place it in the fridge to bring temperatures back down.
🐝 Honeycomb Soap Recipe:
10″ Silicone Loaf Mold
Bubble wrap, cut to fit in mold
3.3 oz. Borage Oil (10%)
14.9 oz. Olive Oil (45%)
2.3 oz. Cocoa Butter (7%)
8.5 oz. Coconut Oil (25%)
2 oz. Shea Butter (6%)
2.3 oz. Yellow Beeswax (7%)
4.5 oz. Sodium Hydroxide Lye
10 oz. Distilled Water
2 oz. Raw Honeycomb Fragrance Oil
1/2 Tbs. Bee Pollen Powder
Cornflower Petals

Beautifully designed soap! Partial gel doesn’t really matter, it usually disappears after a full cure. However, due to the hardness of the soap, I personally would not use a wire cutter on this particular soap recipe, I would be afraid of the wires snapping. The bars of soap look much better and cleaner cut with that knife. Well done Annmarie!

You are great! Clearly explained. We love your videos... you are perfect profi. I have a question, We can use coconut 76 deg oil or 96 oil or Fractionated coconut oil- for soap making. But can we use coconut butter for making soap? Obviously the other three types are different from coconut butter. If coconut butter can be used for soap making how to calculate the amount oil? can we use the same amount as we calculate for coconut76 oil? Thank you very much.

I watched Brambleberry videos for a year before I attempted cold process soap making. Brambleberry has so many great melt and pour recipes that its hard to break away and go on to bigger things but you just gotta take the leap. I have made 12 cold process soap recipes so far and they all came out great. You should go ahead and try...just remember that everyone messes up , thats how we learn and become better. You should give it a try. You will feel so accomplished and you'll see that its actually not that hard. Good luck.

Absolutely! When substituting oils in a recipe, always run the recipe through the Lye Calculator again. Even if you are using the same amount of oil, the amount of lye necessary to turn the oil into soap may be different. You can find that here: www.brambleberry.com/calculator?calcType=lye If you'd like more information on how to substitute oils in recipes, check out this article: www.brambleberry.com/articles/how-to/art0074-how-to-substitute-oil-in-cold-process-recipes.html

I'm more confused than ever. I "want" to learn how to make soap with lye and have wanted to for countless years but lye calculators, percentages of I already forgot but didn't understand even After reading is leading me no where. If I actually understood (I don't have too much patience when I'm not getting half of it) then I'd probably buy out the company because this is what I really want to do so I'm suggesting a paid for online class where we can ask questions and get immediate answers And I'm SURE I'm not the only one that isn't getting it but badly wants to.

i like your knowledge and presentation but uhhhh microwaves? NO... not good not okay not even proper.... the people that reaaaalllly actually do this stuff are mainly on board with why electromagnetic radiation is bad... I want real method... why am I not seeing temperature control? I can follow someone just popping stuff into microwaves but I do respect your honesty with the example of what not to do but then you brush it off and just tell us dont do it too long or this happens... we need controlled method, shouldnt hot plates be the way to go? Im new to this but Im trying to get a hot plate? Has anyone used a magnetic stirrer hot plate combo? will that work for thick oil? they use it in labs so im reall thinking about it...
