Blizzard said the exact same things about Shadowlands, like they say now about Dragonflight. At the 20:00 mark, regarding professions. It's not going to happen that way. Raid guilds are going to channel every crafting material through their own crafters, as well as snag every work order they possibly can so that raid guild crafters are going to be able to craft the absolute best gear possible for their raiding guild. Then they're going to turn around and sell boosts. Except now, the boosts are going to be, "Do you want to get gear drops OR do you want to get materials drops? Or do you want to pay the SUPER SPECIAL PRICE and get both?"

I very much appreciate the direction Blizzard has chosen to take in 10.0. At least I appreciate it in theory, or on paper. A return of worthwhile Profession's and Talent trees, a focus on the “world” of Warcraft, and a dev team that seems receptive to player feedback is all extremely welcoming. However, they've given me too awful of an experience over the past 5 years to outright trust their execution before playing it. And like you and so many others, I've been on an extended absence from the game directly because of the game's direction during BFA and SL's. I genuinely hope 10.0 will be a return to an enjoyable WoW experience. But like many, I am extremely apprehensive. And so, I appreciate the time you took to look at alpha; as well as, Blizzard inviting you to take part. I am not one of the “Tribal players” who flame drama for nor against your "relationship" with Blizzard (but I do find that idea comical). I simply remember the many video's I've watched of your coverage during earlier expansions like WoD and Legion, at a time when I still enjoy playing and often agreed with your perspective and insight. I’m looking forward to your coverage of testing, and whether you think Blizzard has truly changed their destructive behavior.

I have the same problems. I've watched Blizzard allow a few people to destroy everything that is Warcraft, culminating in the abysmally bad story that Shadowlands had. And instead of fixing it, they're just trying to pull out attention somewhere new. What happened with Sylvanas and the Jailer might never get another mention, just like how most of our artifact weapons had no resolution. How the sword of Sargeras was basically forgotten immediately. And on top of that are all the insane decisions made to disrespect our time. And the fact that your money isn't just going to the WoW team, but the company that silenced Free Hong Kong. The company responsible for a crazy amount of sexual harassment. The company responsible for Diablo immortal. It's hard to justify going back to a game made by a company like that. A game that will, invariably, still have a shit story because the writers haven't changed. Which will very likely see new manipulative systems being added when they've clawed back enough goodwill to cash it out again.

The profession system is going to force mythic guilds to make alts for crafting. Every big guild will funnel resources into a single character for each style to make the best items. There won't be a community, either; goblins will simply buy out the markets and fund their alts. I hope I'm wrong.

I totally agree about the fire breath, when you charge it up and expect devastation but get something weak as a return feels poor. I would rather have one more filler ability and let fire breath be a really hard hitting thing but with a longer cooldown.

The whole problem with crafting is that Ian has said to build the best items you have to collect them via raiding, m+, or pvp. So it’s not a full crafter end game. You still need to do endgame to make the best crafted gear…. That’ll probably be out scaled early on

Crafting Specialization has never, and will never work towards building a community, because players will optimize the fun out of everything. All it will do is make guilds micromanage players even further, forcing people to spec a certain way that is the "most optimized" for their raid setup, while also freezing out the more casual players from higher end gear. A savvy handful of players on each server will capitalize on the vacuum at launch, and then gouge those that follow in their footsteps. I know this because I am exactly that kind of player. I've done it in EQ2, I've done it in early WoW, I've done it in Rift, I've done it in XIV. It's just another time sink with a new coat of paint.

I'd change fire cough from 'Press -> release' to 'cast -> channel with release properties.' Longer channel, different effects. Channel for 0-1.5 seconds -> Damage Channel for 1.5-3 seconds -> Damage + burn Channel for 3-4.5 seconds -> Damage + Burn + Scorched ground Channel for 5 seconds -> Damage + Burn + Scorched ground + reduced CD, or haste buff or whatever really.

Preservation is just a Mistweaver monk before it had shit taken away. They function so similarly accept they do DPS from range. Spread an ability around the raid and then mutliple it on all? You mean like renewing mist then vivify? They get new channel spells, monks been channeling for years (yes I know the charge up is different). Flying around and that healing people?? You mean like chi roll used to do, roll through people and heal them. This class is so trash, holy shit balls. And on top of that they're positioning in raid at 20 yards is going to impact them in slot of situations. But they'll have to over tune the damage to make people feel good about playing them.

I'm glad you back doing content you like, but this is not for me. I left WoW because end game content was a chore, I really liked doing competitive Mythic Raiding but I needed to do things I didn't like, like pvp, mythic+ and torghast in several alts. I just want to know if they improved the way you do content in the game, other systems like the loot system with bad luck protection stuff and the top 100 faction disparity. For now I will be finishing my DSR prog and UCOB prog to get those titles and weapons, finish deco my medium house and hope the end game systems for wow is better by then.

What if devastations firebreath was, after you have done the empower-cast, a channeled spell. The longer you empower, the longer the breath? I think that would feel more impactful and they could make it more powerful because you are locked in the channel during its duration and can't cast other spells. It would, imo, be closer to the actual fantasy of a dragons firebreath.

idk how the class currently functions, but my idea / hope would be maybe make Deep Breath an evolving spell, and if you do enough empowered spells elsewhere in the rotation, it gets stronger and stronger. like at base, its just as it is, after 1 or 2 empowered spell-casts it gets 100% wider and deals guaranteed crits, and then maybe after 3 - 5 empowers, it is a MASSIVE circle, and instead of a bombing run, they fly up, and shoot a massive beam / blast that is bigger then the strafe run, deals guaranteed crits, and deals X% more damage. Again, I know legit nothing about how devastation plays, so numbers withstanding, but mechanically I think deep breathe being central to the rotation is a smart move thematically.

What he's describing about the crafting community... is how it was in Burning Crusade on my server. People knew who had which rep recipes, and who was friendly and would redirect you to the right people. I used to get gold tips because people were looking for a recipe and I could TELL THEM who had it.

Didn't seems like Preach was using Soar correctly. In those clips he's not pressing 1 or 2 to flap or speed up for some reason and landing on the ground mad early.

I saw a real angry forum thread the other day asking why Preach was given alpha access after he rage quit, or betrayed WoW, or whatever hyperbolic language they used. And frankly, this is why! He gives these fantastic, thoughtful and honest analyses of games. Like whether something feels good to play, rather than just whether it's fun or functional. Or looking at the bigger picture community goal with the design of professions. No doubt this stuff is invaluable to blizzard.

In all honesty, if they were serious when they say "we'll change for the better", how do you *not* reach out to creators like Preach? He's only ever been critical of the game he wanted to love playing. I'm glad this opportunity came about. Gives me a little hope.

As a solo player, I love that they are finally dusting off professions. I'm concerned that capped profession points will make them obsolete faster or force arbitrary alts. It feels like a planned design mechanism for pushing more boost sales. If anything deserves an infinite grind, it's professions.

From what it seems like, and from the interviews that the devs have given, maxing out professions will require people to wait on the weekly crafting quests.... OR to be crafting raid-tier gear using the BoP mats that drop from raids. Which means that crafters in/for raiding guilds are going to soon outpace non-raid crafters, corner the market, and make anyone who isn't in a raid guild with access to the top-end materials effectively worthless.
