Southeast Ocean and Coastal Acidification Network (SOCAN) and Gulf of Mexico Coastal Acidification Network (GCAN) hosted a townhall on Marine Carbon Dioxide removal (mCDR) projects that are relevant to the Southeast and Gulf of Mexico regions. They were joined by Dr. Tyler Cyronak (Georgia Southern University), Dr. Grace Andrews (Project Vesta), and Dr. Alison Tune (Running Tide) to hear about their research and industry efforts to help stem the tide on acidification.
The recent White House Ocean Climate Action Plan (OCAP) outlined the need for mCDR research and development as part of a comprehensive plan to fight climate change and coastal and ocean acidification. mCDR is an up and coming research area with exciting potential.
