When I was a kid, the decision most of us were making was Mercurial or Predator. They were by far the two coolest football boots out there, being worn by all the most popular players! Fast forward to 2024, and as they always say, history repeats itself.

Preds all the way. Comfortable, light enough, hybridtouch 2.0 it’s more giving. The tongue is just the cherry on the top. Mercurial is just really good, not more than that, not an special feeling on it anymore.

I would personally pick the Preds, even if they are nor leather, because this generation of Mercs are stiff. Still a synthetic, stiff to an extent, but they are at least softer on foot than the Mercs

I think the Preds do feel chunky on feet, as the material feels relatively thick. It’s all relative of course but a lot of people are used to “thick” meaning “plush”, in the context of a leather upper. If the material just feels thick, it’s at the expense of feel for the ball.

I always find most synthetic mercs very uncomfortable because they are so thin, basically all after 2016. I have not tried the Predator 30, but actual leather uppers are much better in terms of ball feel than stiff, albeit thin, synthetics (like the current mercs)
