Since China gave Nuclear bomb to Pakistan and USA ignored them, India should help Japan (maybe even South Korea/Vietnam) to develop Nukes because USA is not gonna do that. India was a nuclear nation by 1974 and there's no need to conduct another nuclear test again in 1998. Every country knew that India possess the capability to design and manufacture nuclear weapons. That was very bad move by late PM Vajpayee. The weight of the sanctions that were imposed on us is very heavy and it stopped the advancements of many indigenous millitary programs because of the other countries not willing to share technology with India or atleast assist us. Some of the major setbacks we faced were Tejas fighter jet and Kaveri engine. If not for those tests in pokhran, we would have replaced all the mig 21 fleet with Tejas fighters with an indigenous kaveri engine by now. Many lives would be saved.
