Honestly speaking, Being a Pakistani I was extremely excited for this WC because India is hosting this WC. WC 2011 holds a special place in my heart for so many reasons. Cricket in India literally feels different but I'm deeply saddened by the way this WC is happening so far. There are just so many reasons. No proper ceremony to kick of the tournament and I was literally shocked to see not even half of the stadium filled during an opening game. That captain ceremony and photoshoot has to be one of the most boring in the WC history. Not a single game had a proper bat and bowl contest all of the games ended as one sided so far. Be it outfield issues or issues with lights, ground and players traveling. Management during all this is literally shocking. Not issuing visas to Pakistanis, asking journalist to ask questions on WhatsApp groups were just added salt to an injury. I wasn't expecting this from the richest board in the world specially when they have the best cricket loving nation. No one can compete with Indians when it comes to loving cricket. Anyways, hoping good for the rest of the tournament. Peace

Mohak is absolutely correct - thats the reason why I lost interest in any sports particularly cricket- where everything is controlled or looted by either politicians or corporates or lunatics. Yesterday one sport journalist asked UFC President Dana White about the hosting UFC in India but all the participants booed and criticise him for asking such questions. India’s impression in the neighbouring countries and people around world is loosing its image of how we as Indians are viewed. Sadly, BCCI released WC ‘23 tickets only 40 days before the tournament. Though our cricket team is not the best in the business we do have a large number of followers of cricket who were eager to visit India to watch some of our stars battle as it is near to us. Unfortunately, it is tough to get an Indian visa serial as some have to wait 3/4 months to submit their visa form and wait another few weeks to get the visa which is sometimes single entry and 2/3 month long only. These discouraging events let us down as both govt and the cricket board should have worked together to eradicate such situations as people from different parts of the sub-continent are fans of the game and communication and food are similar to our home. As a devoted fan of CSK, it is especially disheartening for me to come to terms with the fact that I won’t have the opportunity to witness a match in Chennai.

Hey Mohak, some changes were made in regards to selection committee and chief selector's role. Apparently, when Ajit Agrakar was chosen as the chief selector, he and the team management including skipper and coaches were asked to give all the clarity regarding the selection and non-selection of the players. This is so true. I hated my first cricket experience. I live in Ranchi and India was playing South Africa. I wanted to experience cricket live for the first time. Booked my ticket on paytm and then had to stand in line for the physical one. I was like what is this process... if you're booking tickets online then why to stand in a line. I went to take my physical ticket at around 10am and then got my ticket at 11:30pm. That was such a bad experience. Then the stadium experience sucked too. I hated the whole thing. It was my first and last time i did that. Never going again. Rather watch cricket on tv.

I think Its somehow the issue of fans too. The fans themselves showed more interest in IPL rather than test/ODI/T20 matches. The more interest gets more earnings business run behind earnings not behind fans. One flop IPL or another Format with more revenue BCCI will stop IPL and run behind the new format.

I agree with offline ticket nonsense, just like we do in theatres and metros we should have an option to scan the tickets in stadium just like in MCG. I faced a similar issue during Ind V Aus series in Hyderabad last year, booked ticket on Paytm and at last moment they told us to go to a place that is 15km far from Stadium to collect the tickets and it was not like they bifurcated half tickets in stadium and half in this place, both offline and online tickets were being sold here, at last police had to resort to lathi charge

This video accurately highlights the political turmoil in the cricket industry in India. The fact that ICC does not govern these boards makes for further reason why BCCI is unanswerable to the fans, selectors and players. Just as FIFA banned AIFF for 3rd party political interference until Kalyan Chaubey was ruled the president of AIFF, ICC must do the same.

root cause of all these problems is monopoly of BCCI in cricket field... problems always arises when a person or body start dominating a field entirely... this could be our the future of JIO in their own respective field.... and this is why dictatorshiping or domination is bad no matter how much good deed or intention is showing in the starting period

The aspect which mohak didn't talk about ( and can't do that) is of government involvement in BCCI. No organisation of this magnitude can work without government support. They get their share from the revenue and that is why it isn't transparent, otherwise government would have been the first to tax BCCI.

All these are happening because cricket is reigning a monopoly in the arena of sports in India. If there is emergence of any other game like football, etc. the entire dadagiri or monopoly of cricket will be a thing of the past. By the way, BCCI doesn't pay tax on its profit as it is registered as a non-profit organization. There is a huge unholy nexus of politicians in BCCI.
