There’s been a lot of talk about overconsumption and social media lately. Much of the blame has been placed on influencers, but is there more to the story? Let me know what you think!

I have been watching you tube since it's beginning. In the beginning it was great people simply shared the things they liked. They were so helpful if you needed help how to do a makeup look. They were also honest if something wasn't good quality. Fast forward when you tubers started to make money that is when things really started to change. You had you tubers making money and quitting their jobs to make you tube their job. So they pushed more things out to get the money. At this point the fun lets help each other ended and it became for some all about them getting ahead and thinnking they could get rich. The honest reviews and helping each other ended. People still don't seem to realize that what you see even on you tube can be fake. You tubers showing items even luxury ones and returning them. Faking living in luxry by themselves when they have room mates, pretending to go on expensive trips and simpy faking it. Instagram is just as bad . I think everyone needs to really pay attention and realize that what you see is not always real No one's life is perfect because they can buy luxury items , even the wealty have problems. I think we all need to get back to having our own opionions and style and stop allowing others to dictate how and what we buy or like.

Great points! I think social media is at its best when we’re sharing the things we love and helping each other out. Money always seems to get in the way of good things.
