I took care of vet with amputation. He used coco butter before put on socks/ stocking.

Yep, our prosthetist gave my husband the "liner, liner" before he got his gel liner. It absorbs sweat, protecting the skin from those bumps (which incidentally is heat rash caused by the skin's inability to secrete the sweat so it backs up in the sweat glands and causes inflammation & a rash) the liner-liner also adds that extra sock liner for a comfortable smooth fit, avoiding traction on the skin.

Is that just a normal type of filler sock you wear under the gel liner? Please help I am going through the same problem that you had. And I am getting calluses at the end of my stump and blister open skin... My prosthetist said that I am bottoming out in my socket. It is getting hectic to have to go to my doctor every couple weeks to check up on this.

Ask your prosthetist about the underliner sock. I’m not sure where to get them other than the prosthetist. And use the thick socks to layer so you don’t bottom out. Have they show you this?

​@@ElectiveAmputationi have to use one of the BLACK and one YELLOW is this bottoming out usual? It seems changing constantly. You are an inspiration an have helped like you wont believe 🙏😉👊 My prosthetist basically told me to layer but this keeps going on. I feel like I need to be refitted or they need to put a foam or pad liner in the plastic socket thing your limb goes in 🤷‍♂️ im so confused

It's usually has silver threaded in the umderliner.

They have my dad one.. called it a "sock". I think I keeps the liner from pulling all of the moisture from your skin.
