Got out for a few days of fishing at Baker Lake. Camped at Shannon Creek. Had the best luck with a 9" Mack's Sling Blade (with a bend added), a orange or pink hoochie with a smile blade or spin glow, and tipped with purple coon shrimp. Every fish was caught at 45' trolling at 1 mph.
Ended up leaving with 7 keepers and 1 that was too beat up. Lost nearly as many the first two days.

Hello! I talked to you when you came back to the Shannon creek camp. You kindly showed me your setup including coon stripe shrimps. I went back there this morning and have got only one bite. It was slow day for everyone. But I managed to get one. Thank you for all your advice!!

I use a down-rigger for one rod and a weight, 6 or 8 oz, for my other rod. I typically have a slider on my main line with beads above and below to protect my rod tip and my knot. The cannonball weights can attach directly to the slider. You really want to use the heavier weights because you don’t want to be long lining with all the other boats and kayaks out there. You really only need to fish about 45 feet down and at very slow speeds .7 - 1.2 or so mph so with those weights it shouldn’t take too much line out and it shouldn’t blow back too far.

I always keep one rig at 45 feet and another 5 feet above or below. I troll at 1 mph. Make sure you are tipping your lures with purple coon shrimp. Remove the heads and use just the bodies. I use smelly jelly shrimp scent on the bottom of my dodgers to put out a strong scent trail. The macks 9" sling blades with a bend near the end work like a charm. Orange or pink hoochies (2 1/2" ones) with smile blades or spin glows above are killers. #1 or 2 hooks. 10-12" mono leaders. Try to stay a bit off the main crowd of boats first thing in the morning. I like the south east area just off the main trolling line along the underwater ledge.

Trolling speed is important. I wouldn't go above 1 mph except to very briefly apply more action. Some people will troll as low as .6 mph. I don't have patience for that slow. I think 1 mph lets you cover a bit more water and will still draw bites.

So you can have more than one day catch limit on you ?
@nw_angler

Each day I put my catches into a cooler at my camp site. The limit was 5 fish per day.

@@nw_angler According to Washington dept. of Fisheries, you can only have one day catch limit in your possession; so I think that if they stopped by your camp site, and you had a cooler full of fish, over the one day catch limit , they would write you a ticket. Please check with them.

What kind of line are you using for your main line? Also, did you use a micro hoochie? Thanks

I bleed them out on a stringer next to the kayak. I think I showed that on...the first fish maybe.
