Some of the damage is from jumping into rocks and natural stuff too. Cool vid

Every river is different, I'm sure. These summer fish typically rest during the day and move up at night. In the fall they seem to move during the day a lot more.

Our great lake Chinook are the same way they almost never sit still. And when they start really running like ours are now, nothing will stop them from moving up.

I am in British Columbia, so I'm not that familiar with your area. The Columbia has some decent returns, I'm sure your local tackle store can point you in the right direction. Also try watching "Addicted Fishing" it's a big salmon fishing KZbin channel from your region.

Thanks. I don't ever intend to bother people, but honestly if I only swam where nobody is fishing, I'd have to go at midnight. I kind of look at it like playground rules. Everybody should get to play, but don't push people off the swings :)

Thanks. I started posting videos for my friends and family, but I figure if people want to watch, I might as well try to have a positive impact. I find it's a very fine line between educational and preachy, quite difficult to tread.

Quite awesome under water footage as always. I've been trying to fish the Vedder a couple times but no luck. Do you have any suggestions on what part of the river to target? With the upcoming fall run I would like to go a bit more this year, Thanks.
@petrhermanadventures95092 жыл бұрын
The summer chinook run is peaking as the moment and will be mostly over in another 2 weeks. The fish are throughout the river and you want to find deep runs. If the fish are there, you will see them rolling once in a while.

I usually walk up stream with my gear on and then swim back down to my car. I strap my sandals to my weight belt and this also gives me a chance to scout for danger on the way up.

All the footage is from 2021, the first segment is just a bit zoomed in and taken on July 26. Water is still a tad high for swimming this year.

I think the whole problem with bc fishing community is the criticism itself. Everyone is so obsessed with conservation and what’s native and what’s not. I found the bass video interesting that you were discussing the qualms of keeping all the bass you catch. Here it is exactly the opposite people well 85 percent of people go fishing purely for the reason that they want dinner lol also here it’s like blasphemy to kill a bass Idk I think it’s interesting because I always lean strongly to the conservation side of things but at the same time I love to eat bass and pike and let the salmonoids go (even if some of you might say oh it’s not even a real steelhead oh it’s stocked fish ) I agree with your perspective on this stuff but I think people take it too far. We’re all on the same team … I just don’t get these west coast anglers bitching and moaning amongst each other about random aspects of conservation or fishing ethics.
@petrhermanadventures95092 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your thoughts. I would say that a lot of the "nitpicking" about ethics comes from the great deal of fishing pressure we have on the lower mainland rivers. If you have 2000 anglers on one river over the weekend and they foul hook several fish each and drag them up on shore it amounts to a huge impact on the fish stocks.
@dylanmounsey75152 жыл бұрын

@@petrhermanadventures9509 So, then, why are you fishing Peter? You should not be fishing yourself if you are so concerned.......but, of course......you can fish because you are local, eh?
@petrhermanadventures95092 жыл бұрын
@@miadeaur287 I don't see a problem with killing fish and also caring about them and their conservation. I kill 40 to 50 salmon per year, not one scrap of that meat is wasted. It's not a secret, as I make regular fishing videos as well as underwater videos. Unlike most anglers, I am very aware of the fact that fish experience pain and fear just like other creatures and for that reason I don't fish for sport but rather for food.. When I have caught my limit, I stop fishing immediately.
