Hi from the US! Why is 150 kg the limit for a hitch-mounted carrier? Is this a European standard or a vehicle requirement? You probably know that in the US, a class 2 hitch is rated at handling 500 lbs (227kg) and it is a very common capacity for chassis such as the Transit 350HD. I'm curious...

150 Kg is the maximum permitted additional weight on the chassis, it is different to a towbar (hitch in US) weight limit where the load is on a single point. US regulations are also very very different to here in Europe.

@@aguyinback Actually a class 2 hitch is only 350 tongue weight. Remember with a trailer the when you bouncing the trailer and tongue hand the weight. With just a cargo mounted in to the hitch all the bouncing is on the hitch. 300 pounds on the hitch dead load turns in to 1,000 pound live load when you start to bounce it.
