Hey Mark! I cut aluminum cans while I watch TV and KZbin videos quite often. I bag the scraps to recycle. I use it for other arts and craft projects such as fish and mermaid scales and roofing shingles for bird and fairy houses and flower petals and leaves. I have never thought to use it to make jewelry with. Thank you for sharing this clever idea Mark. 😀❤👍🏻

Hey Mark. Yet another awesome jewelry idea! I have actually used paper punches to cut my cans. There are so many shapes and sizes and they can be found at thrift stores pretty cheap. Looking forward to seeing what you make next!

I am an artist and I too save the brown paper that comes in packages. I really love it when Amazon employees put twenty feet of paper in a box for no reason. One day I opened a box and saw all this brown paper and there was so much of it I decided to measure it. I had to lay it end to end in my hallway and with my measuring tape I measured almost twenty one feet of paper. I shook my head and laughed BUT, I folded it up nice and neat and put it in my paint room. When I need to cover my work table I use this paper and tape it down. I'm sort of a cardboard box hoarder too but that's because I need them when I ship out my paintings.

@@MarkMontanoMakeYourMark I laugh when I open a box from Amazon and find one small piece of paper. Like, what is THIS supposed to do? I order dry dog food online and sometimes I will order from Chewy.com and Amazon. Chewy doesn't put brown paper in the box but Amazon does. A 58 lb of dry dog food with one little piece of paper. It gets me every time. Thanks Amazon for protecting the dog food bag!!! LOL.

This craft was critizised because people thought it would cut my neck, but the truth is that it doesn't cut, the way the flowers were cut the edge became blunt, only the points of the petals were pointy and needed sanding

Another I had to share! I added it to my list of challenges that will be done in the near future for our Facebook challenge. I've cut the tin can to make jewelry and stuff before but this takes it right over the top with all the paint! This would make beautiful dangles in journals! Or even beautiful stitch markers on yarn projects! What are the gloves that you use for the sharp edges? Does the edges of the can cut into your mono-plate? Namesta 🐞

Can you use a die cutter for paper, cardboard, and card stock?

Yes, you can use the die cutter for paper...that's primarily what they're made for, but soda can aluminum is super thin so it works for that as well.

What medium are you painting on the cans with? Newbie...lol Never have seen a gell press either. What is the function of this? Just to put the medium on? How do you clean it? Thanks

You can use almost any kind of acrylic paint on your Gel Press. You just want to make sure to seal it with something when you're done so they're durable!

Instead of using primer to cover the ink, why not just remove it? There are some videos on how to do this.

Nah, too much. I prefer the primer plus it creates a nice base for the other colors.
