This episode... wow! You nailed Duck and Diesel's relationship to the letter. Looks like my little prediction last night was correct. Their past is sure to leave behind some scars, but the two are certainly working their way to healing things up. Can't wait to see how Diesel really atones his mistakes. And I love how you implemented my flashback story in. I must admit, I didn't think that Bear and Diesel could have easily swapped jobs, rather than Diesel having to wait till evening just to apologise to Duck. I also thought that the fact that Diesel had been the one caught by surprise by Duck's forgiveness was... sort of heartwarming.

Interesting setup so far. I really like how the dialogue worked into bringing Diesel into the whole situation. Although I do find it a bit odd how Diesel's own recount of when he told the trucks about his nicknames for the mainline trio to be a contradiction to "Bad Apple" where he told them after James was leaving the yard. Nonetheless, I look foreword to see how this all plays out.

This is well worth the wait! I totally understand the importance proper motivation plays when producing quality work, and as I said, you being able to motivate yourself again comes as a great (but extremely good) surprise, for at the moment I myself lacks that motivation. It's visible you devoted quite a lot of effort developing Diesel's character and as a character, since way back in the days of Sodor the Early Years: Season 2, and I must say adding so much depth into a "talking train" (as people stereotypically call the creation of our beloved reverend) is exactly what franchise needs to remain attractive to older audience without including bad language, or violent and sexual element (which would be hard to do considering the context of the being railway centred, anyways). One little glitch I must point out is I'm not exactly fond of the use of Duck's theme. No offence to its creator, in case he's reading this, he did a fantastic job on "modernising" (so to speak) the theme, but when the other character's theme and music are all Mike & Junior style, it just doesn't feel right, especially because their style suits the stories you wrote much better. Again, no problem with the theme itself, just it doesn't belong here. I'm not sure if this is the case to anyone else, but I always find your episodes much more relatable to and helpful in real life compared to those "moral episodes" the official series produces, such as how apologies and reconciliation wasn't enough to rid the perpetrator's feeling of guilt (if he/she does feel any). This is just the way it is: the older we get, the more complex the difficulties we face becomes, and the drama we enjoy needs to involve them in order to be continually enjoyable and relatable to us. Having your stories back in my weekly routine was one of the best things that happened to me recently: I've got a good reason to look forward to next Saturday!

Great episode, welcome back Wildnorwester! I noticed that there's a possible goof at 12:27, you mentioned that "Duck thought back to the Christmas of 1966", during the events of 'Galloping Sausage.' But Oliver (who was mentioned in that episode) came to Sodor in 1967, according to 'On the Run' and at the end of 'Bad Apple,' it's stated that the events of 'Galloping Sausage' took place in 1981.

I think the real problem is the crews have no idea how to use the train brakes. If you used the brakes properly, you wouldn't have an out of control train.
@sockshandle7 жыл бұрын
incorrect any sort of brake system (yes even modern air brake) can malfunction or be overpowerd for instance in the episode Thomas and the trucks (I think that's the name) Thomas's driver used the brakes properly its just that the trucks over powered the brakes and there for caused the incident and in Thomas and the breakdown train James's brakes malfunctioned quite badly in the sense that they caught fire and assuming that the NWR still uses older tech on its lines I find it safe to say that even if the crews knew how to use the train brakes or... independent which if you look at the trucks they have no air pipe so the driver has to use the independent/train brake essentialy so in that instance you can't blame the crews but the trucks yes...
@ironmatic17 жыл бұрын
fred white 1: The brakes on the trucks should be strong enough to slow them down... They are very light and shouldn't take much braking force to stop anyway. 2: In this episode, it's described that a brake line on one of the trucks failed, so they do have train brakes in this cannon.
@sockshandle7 жыл бұрын
ironmatic 1 but as it is also described that the air can be let out of the brake line so a careless shunter could have forgotten to make it to where air/steam could build and also in this cannon trucks can bump push and pull an engine so the brakes may have a tougher time braking in such a case and I did say in the last comment that malfunctions can happen so who's to say that the brakes were even working on Donalds train if they weren't and the trucks have a load such as coal cement .etc the weight of a truck can increase greatly depending on the load and as evidenced by the fact that that Donalds wheels were sliding the driver and fireman were caught off guard and therefore simply couldn't gain control afterwards
@ironmatic17 жыл бұрын
fred white 1: Loosing air means the brakes would be applied. 2: If the brakes where not working, that's a MAJOR safety issue that no railway would dare have. Not just one or two trucks but the majority of them! 3: They are still extremely light. They're literally just wooden walls on a frame with two axles!
@sockshandle7 жыл бұрын
ironmatic 1 the loads in them though can get very heavy and and if I'm correct there is a valve on the trucks that can make it to where the air can't be released and as far as loads go stone ore coal general goods liquid etc stone is from what i can tell heaviest including if it's cut the way it was in donalds plank wagons back to air perhaps the air was stuck sometimes the brakes could be locked open needing to bleed air out of the system

How Donald keep move if his wheels doesn't move? There's a invisible back engine who push him?
@TheSteamdriver3 жыл бұрын
It's called wheel lock and it happens in real life when the locomotive brakes and the weight of the train behind it then keeps the momentum of the train going even with the wheels not moving it can also happen when passenger trains have to do a emergency brake.

About time those freight cars got back to being troublesome in your series. You might say they haven't been given the proper motivation. Or perhaps they've simply been lying in wait for the tough guys in the Little Western to lower their guard. Even so, I may have a few suspects that haven't been seen in a long while: the Spiteful Brakevan and S.C. Ruffey. You've certainly made Diesel a much more complex character. Who knew that cars could be so easily manipulated?
@TobyandMavisforever7 жыл бұрын
The spiteful brakevan and S.C.Ruffey were destroyed by Douglas and Oliver respectfully. How could it be them?
@DarthWill37 жыл бұрын
Hey, S.C. Ruffey was put back together in the TV Series, and NWR1991 brought back the Brakevan in his series. Besides, it's exciting to find that the guys you thought were dead are actually alive and behind everything. Who else would target the engines on the Little Western with such an enormous grudge?

Well, Dan said that even if S.C.R.uffey was put back in service, he surely would have been withdrawn by now. And the Spiteful Brakevan's remains looked like this: vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/ttte/images/7/7b/BreakVanRS8.png/revision/latest?cb=20140115115252 I doubt that can be salvaged.
