Awesome video. I *THINK* I am a SC. I guess that's one good explanation for why "trendy" looks are so off on me!! Growing up as a teen and early 20s girl in the 2000s, i tried various types of fashions, most of which looked terrible 😂 such as long peasant skirts (too frumpy), ruffled/ asymmetric skirts or tops (too fussy) or those horrid bubble dresses/ tops (which just made me look fat and short lol). It took a long time for me to notice that a simple sheeth or wrap dress in a solid colour got me more compliments than anything else. Sometimes i would even be surprised thinking "oh, that's such a boring dress, how come everyone likes it??!" Of course you can't live in dresses all the time 😬 i have noticed though that "my version" of a "jeans and t shirt look" is simply to swap the t shirt for shirt/ blouse (not too tight nor too baggy) and tuck it in. And a pair of pretty sandals to add that touch of "elegance".

So well explained & demonstrated. Soft classic has a lot of nuance they you capture & point out helpful specifics. Aly, you do this best! I’ve read the Kibbe book & your synopsis makes more sense to me. I’m always looking forward to your next video to get more great bodytype information. Thanks for all the time & effort you put in.

Excellent outfits, love them! I noticed that "not done" hair on SC ruins the whole look, no matter how great clothes are, it´s like I have to tidy it up, style it a bit, otherwise I look frumpy. Can you advise soft calssic realistic contemporary hairstyles? This seems like key to the whole SC look, is that right?

I have this too. Have been trying to type myself for months and I'm so torn between SN and SC ( leaning towards SC) I have decided to combine the two and create what I called a relaxed classic. I have been wearing classic outfits but with a relaxed vibe to them, slightly messy hair, basic white trainers instead of elegant sandals. Relaxed cardigans etc. Hope this helps

@@fin418 I am the same too, in between SC and SN. Some classic styles can make me look boring, frumpy/matronly and some natural styles are too rustic/textured. I like your idea - relaxed soft classic. Yes, my hair looks better slightly messy too, I call it oomfy - as in my hair has a bit of oomf to it. I have a layered shoulder length bob and love those mornings when you get up, look in the mirror and you have bed hair and it looks great. I always feel bad about brushing it out.

Your videos are so helpful! I am leaning more and more toward believing that I am a soft classic. My closet is full of delicate sweaters. I bought a sharp jean jacket thinking I was a dramatic classic, but the lines were just too harsh for me. I also look better with wavy hair rather than straight hair.

Hey! Love your content ❤ I’m a soft classic with an outdoorsy job in Patagonia and Iceland. I always struggle with dressing myself in these settings, since outdoorsy clothes are quite boxy and not elegant at all… do you have any suggestions? Thanks!
@user-ed7eu5nu4j Жыл бұрын
Outdoor clothing in just one solid colour without the accentuated knee patches etc. may help. For example dark blue (ski) pants, a white or red jacket and a scarf in the color of the two pieces.
@kallistamorgan1349 Жыл бұрын
I would love more info on this as well! I also live in an outdoorsy town, and enjoy hiking. I find I often look ridiculous when it suits so many other folks. Agree with the above commenter-I’ve found that monochrome, classic colors with lighter shoes work best. I have tan teva sandals and hiking boots, and they look better than all of the colorful, dark, too strappy/chunky styles.

I am soft classic and i love mom jeans but when I wear it with tucked in top, makes me look so short If I wear low rise jeans, it makes me look even shorter. Mid waist jeans never fit my waist as my waist is on the smaller side The only thing that has seemed to work is high rise tailored and pleated trousers which are cigarette cut and hug my waist well, paired with tops that end up on my mid waist This is so tuff😑

Follow the basic principles of simplicity without volume, stiffness etc, and follow the basic lines of your body. Think about proportions and keeping everything in balance. Although soft classic recommendations are often shown with 'classic' style, I believe they can work with any style.

@raraavis7782 Жыл бұрын
I feel your pain. I'm a (flamboyant?) Natural and the typical styling recommendations are sooo not me 😅
@ilinkazibret8234 Жыл бұрын
I felt the same, but since I've been trying out these styles for the past 2 years, the results are: 1. I've had to train my eye (creative) 2. Narrowed down the options (reduced waste and regret) 3. Opted for a palette that suits my color season as well as my body type, makes my clothes pretty interchangeable since they don't clash) 4. The above makes dressing a breeze 5. The above gets me compliments and makes me feel good in the clothes 6. Therefore, it makes me appreciate, care for my clothes better 7. I have been able to find a style and a color palette that I ❤ within this framework. My colors need to be muted, but if your colorings are bright, using the right colors will not mess up your look if done properly. 8. Referring to the style, the biggest takeaway from all of this is that as a soft classic, you can emulate any style, but it's enough to only use 1 element. A leather jacket, or 1 boho accessory, slightly sheer 1 piece to look sexy.. etc. Otherwise, we look like a caricature. 9. The clothes that are spot on, you can keep almost forever, since they're a timeless style. There'a good chance to pay a very good price and still manage to love them for a decade or more, depending on the material. 10. There's an option, to focus and pay for the material, not the print. Materials don't get none of the credit, yet are for me, for comfort, functionality and even aesthetics, far more important than prints. And to wrap up, 11, the most important one, if you're a soft classic, some of your clothes might look boring on the hanger. But when you wear them, you'll look spectacular. It's like magic. It's not about the clothes, how they look. It's about how you look. And I think we can look so polished and put together so easily, simply. Simplicity makes us shine. Our problem is is just different from other types, it's the excess not the lack. Hope you don't mind this essay it's meant to help you navigate through the beginning with a bit more confidence. It's totally worth it.
@jackiedrury318 Жыл бұрын
This is so well written and spot on . I’m trying to navigate my 50’s looking current and not too young, not too old and polished . Finally learning I’m a soft classic and embracing what looks good on us has been the best thing I have learnt this past year and really boosted my mid life confidence . I hope you have learnt this earlier in life it’s a game changer

Blue jeans isn't the best for SC. Solid white and navy blue look much more sofisticated.
@minervarose7664 Жыл бұрын
I think blue jeans can work great on SC as long as they are well tailored. And they shouldn't be "exaggerated" in any direction - not extremely high-waisted but not hipsters/ low-slung either...not baggy/ extreme wide leg but not skintight skinny jeans either. I think a mid-rise straight-cut or bootcut blue jean paired with a pretty chiffon, silk or cotton shirt (tucked in of course!) and a delicate pair of sandals or classic heels - depending on the occasion - can look wonderful on a SC!
